Train veers off track forcing long delays for Euston passengers
National Rail has warned of long delays for the rest of the day following the 'low-speed derailment' in Bletchley near Milton Keynes.
Both stations are on the West Coast Mainline, the primary route for trains between London and the North West.
It was not carrying passengers and no injuries were reported, the rail company said.
Trains operated by London Northwestern Railway and Avanti West Coast could be delayed or cancelled.
A spokesperson for LNWR said: 'We are working closely with Network Rail to resolve the disruption as soon as possible. In the meantime, ticket acceptance is available with East Midlands Railway and Transport for London Overground.' More Trending
Avanti said in a statement that passengers could use tickets on the two services before and after their booked train as well as via alternative routes with other operators.
In a statement, Euston station said: 'For safety reasons, all lines between Milton Keynes and Bletchley were temporarily closed and we have worked quickly to reopen two of the four tracks on the West Coast Main Line.
'Although some trains are running again, we expect this incident to cause significant disruption to journeys today and we are working to recover the timetables as quickly as possible.
'We are very sorry to passengers whose journeys are affected and urge people to check before they travel at http://nationalrail.co.uk.'

Evacuations and streets closures as Storm Floris hits Fort William
Images shared on social media showed a section of copper roofing coming away from the building housing the VisitScotland information centre on the town's High Street. The thoroughfare, as well as the parallel Middle Street, have both been closed for 'public safety'. "Fort William High Street shut as roof about to fly off!" one user wrote on Facebook, sharing video of fire and rescue personnel on the scene. Storm Floris has hit the Highlands with gusts of more than 90mph, as well as severe travel disruption across road and rail networks. The road closures are due to a large section of copper roof that has come unstable due to high winds. 'Adjacent buildings have been evacuated, and sections of both High Street and Middle Street have been closed off. 'Structural engineers from building control will assess the damage as soon as possible, however due to the current wind conditions, it's not possible to safely access the roof to assess the full extent of the damage.' It comes after [[Police Scotland]] issued a warning to motorists to avoid the popular Bealach na Ba road altogether, with 'multiple' reports of strong winds overturning campervans both there and along the A87 on Skye. An amber weather warning is in place in an area stretching from the central belt to the north coast until 11pm, with the Met Office saying injuries and danger to life are expected from large waves hitting seafronts, coastal roads and properties. The rest of the country is covered by a yellow weather warning until 11.59pm on Monday. Fallen trees have seen a number of roads closed, including the A95 Rosarie road in both directions and the A96 in a number of locations, while the A9 at Daviot is partially blocked by a fallen tree. High winds have also led to the closure of the A9 Dornoch Bridge in both directions, and the A1 Tyne Bridge is only open to cars and single-decker buses. ScotRail has urged people to secure all outdoor equipment such as trampolines. Posting on social media, the rail operator said: 'We're asking anyone with garden equipment, such as tents, trampolines or furniture, to secure items so that they don't blow onto the tracks and interfere with lineside equipment.'

A further five trains - out of a total of 18 heading from Paris to London - have been cancelled. Six others bound for London from France have been pushed back. A power outage in Moussy - 30 miles north of Paris - occurred at 8.30 this morning, triggering the slew of delays. As a result, services were forced to divert to slower lines which caused carnage on France's rail network. Since the problem is largely affecting French services, holidaymakers heading to Brussels or Amsterdam from London have largely been unaffected by the cancellations. The train operator took to X to confirm which services have been cancelled. Some have taken to social media to vent their frustrations at the incident. One wrote: "How is it that the one day I choose to take the Eurostar they choose to cut power to the high speed rail in Northern France? "What are the odds?" However, according to lucky holidaymakers, regularly services are slowly being restored for some passengers. One person posted: "Thanks Eurostar for working through the track problems affecting all trains headed west from Paris Nord today. "Our train was late, but still running today. His mum jumped onto a later flight to Italy and was due to be reunited with her son today. Spanish police confirmed today they had helped locate the youngster after he became separated from his mum and dad. A source familiar with the extraordinary sequence said: 'They were due to catch Tui flight BY5107 back to London Stansted Airport together at 9.25 this morning but became separated. 'The boy's parents ended up reporting him missing and that led to police intervention.' A spokesman for the National Police in Majorca said: 'Officers checked cameras in the departures area and saw the teenager had managed to get onto a flight to Milan. 'The airport had already activated its missing child alert system but it was deactivated after it was confirmed the lad was on his way to Italy.' It was not immediately clear this afternoon how the youngster, who according to local reports may suffer from autism, managed to board EasyJet flight U23762.
