Child who was hit by car in Manchester, New Hampshire dies from injuries, police say
One of the children who was hit by a car in Manchester, New Hampshire, on Thursday has died from their injuries, according to police.
Five people, including two girls, were injured when an alleged drunk driver crashed into multiple cars on Belmont Street on Thursday. Witnesses explained that the girls were crossing the street with their father when they were hit. They said one of the girls was riding a bike and another was a baby in a stroller.
The man, 23-year-old Justin Laclair of Manchester, allegedly hit the girl riding the bike so hard she flew over the top of the vehicle. Witnesses told WBZ-TV he then dragged the stroller with the baby still inside for at least a block.
Police said that the youngest of the two children died from her injuries at a Boston hospital. The sister, who was riding a bike, is still being treated for serious injuries.
Neighbors try to help girls injured in crash
Manchester officials stated that an off-duty firefighter had provided critical aid to the girls, while neighbors in the area rushed to their aid.
"We commend the swift actions of the off-duty firefighter and the responding Fire and EMS personnel for their professionalism and dedication in providing urgent care during this incident. Our thoughts are with the families during this difficult time," the Manchester Fire Department said.
"It's traumatic for children around here, especially young children in the area," said Laura Bennett, who lives on the street. "We are all very close. We all know each other. All of our kids play together."
After hitting the girls, LaClair allegedly hit another car and a telephone pole around a quarter of a mile down the road before he attempted to flee the scene. The person inside the other car that was hit has non-life-threatening injuries. There is no update on the conditions of the other two victims.

He is charged with aggravated DWI, reckless conduct, and conduct after an accident. Laclair has previously been arrested for allegedly stealing a Rottweiler puppy off a woman's porch in Manchester.

Justice Department requests lists of undocumented immigrants in LA County jails
Los Angeles County Sheriff Robert Luna said the U.S. Department of Justice is targeting him after the federal government requested a list of incarcerated undocumented immigrants. During a news conference on Thursday, Luna said the federal government has threatened to charge him if his agency does not cooperate. "I've personally received, I'm going to call it, threatening letters from the federal government to make sure that we are cooperating with them, doing civil immigration enforcement," Luna said. "A lot of them say, if you don't, there's going to be consequences up to the point of you being charged federally." The Justice Department said they have sent requests to sheriff's departments across California asking "for lists of all inmates in their jails who are not citizens of the United States, their crimes of arrest or conviction, and their scheduled release dates." Luna said he hasn't seen the request. He added that even if he did, the Sheriff's Department wouldn't be able to help the DOJ. "We don't ask for immigration status," Luna said. "I don't know how we're going to provide a list to anybody, whether it's the fed or anybody else." Sanctuary laws in California and Los Angeles also bar local law enforcement from sharing information with immigration agents unless the federal government has a warrant. Luna said federal agents secured warrants for 20 incarcerated people this year, but the Trump administration is requesting more data without warrants. "At least for this year, there's 435 people that they've asked for in 2025," Luna said. "We have not fulfilled any of them because of state law." Republicans said California's sanctuary laws are hurting public safety. "You're not allowed to talk to ICE. You're not allowed to coordinate," Rep. Kevin Kiley said. "You're not allowed to coordinate. You're not allowed to honor a detainer request. So, what happens is that these individuals get released back out into the community." Luna emphasized that his department is not conducting immigration enforcement. "We cannot do our jobs without public trust in our community," Luna said. The Trump administration has granted Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents access to the personal information of 75 million Medicaid recipients, enabling the federal government to verify the citizenship status of all individuals. The database also has home addresses. Gov. Gavin Newsom said he will fight against any attempt to access information on those enrolled in MediCal, which is paid for with state revenue.

In the documents, Richards alleged that on July 4, Phypers "got within two inches of my face" and "screamed degrading profanities" including calling her a "c--- w----" and a "piece of s---." Richards also alleged that the next day her ex made the same comments in the presence of his father, Steven Phypers. Richards claimed that Steven also "began yelling at me" and threatened to tell the internet that she was a "w----." The Bravo star alleged that later that same day Phyphers "grabbed both of my arms forcefully and pushed me and dragged me to the ground. I landed hard on the stairs causing me immense pain." She also claimed that when she threatened to call the police on July 5, Phypers said, 'I would like to see the cops take me away, I will blow everything up if they try.' She alleged in the documents that 'throughout our marriage, Aaron threatened to kill me and himself and the police.' She also claimed that Phypers 'owns at least eight unregistered guns' and "multiple bullet proof vests."
