Bank Islam Issues Ninth Tranche Of RM1 Bln Senior Sukuk Murabahah
The issuance marks the ninth tranche under the bank's RM10 billion Sukuk Murabahah Programme.
KUALA LUMPUR, July 29 (Bernama) -- Bank Islam Malaysia Bhd has issued RM1.0 billion Senior Sukuk Murabahah under its RM10.0 billion Sukuk Murabahah Programme on July 25.
The Senior Sukuk Murabahah is rated AA3/stable by RAM Ratings Services Bhd and carries a competitive profit rate of 3.85 per cent per annum for a seven-year tenure, it said.
'The proceeds will be used to finance Bank Islam's banking activities, working capital requirements and other corporate purposes. The utilisation of the funds will be in accordance with Shariah principles,' it added.
Bank Islam is the principal adviser, lead arranger, lead manager, and Shariah adviser for the Sukuk Murabahah Programme.

KUALA LUMPUR: The federal government spent over RM21 million on organising Madani Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations in 2024 and 2025. Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof said all costs were fully borne by the federal government as part of its social investment to strengthen public engagement and reinforce the spirit of unity in the Madani framework. He said no financial contributions were received from private entities or government-linked companies (GLCs) for the festivities in either year. "The actual expenditure for the 2024 Madani Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebrations held in seven states was RM10,050,196.66, with an average of RM1,435,742.38 per state. "For 2025, the total expenditure across seven locations is RM10,928,222.53, averaging RM1,561,174.65 per location," he said. He said this in response to Abdul Latiff Abdul Rahman (PN–Kuala Krai) on the expenditure for each open house and Madani Hari Raya Aidilfitri celebration programme organised by the government. He said the costs covered essential items such as logistics, public catering and promotional efforts to ensure wide community participation, especially as the events were held on a large scale across multiple states. He said that starting from 2023, the open house celebrations had been expanded nationwide. In contrast, the 2022 event was limited to attendees in the Klang Valley, yet incurred a higher cost of RM11 million. "The open house was part of the government's efforts to strengthen the relationship between the people and leaders through an inclusive, people-friendly approach that reaches all levels of society. "These events are not merely festive celebrations but serve as important platforms to foster national unity, promote harmony and encourage interaction and mutual understanding among Malaysia's multiracial society," he said.

Malaysia launches exporter outreach, reforms post-US tariff deal
KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia will implement three major initiatives—exporter outreach, regulatory reforms, and nationwide supply chain mapping—following its recent tariff agreement with the US. The deal reduces tariffs on Malaysian goods from 25% to 19%, effective August 1. Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Tengku Datuk Seri Zafrul Abdul Aziz stated the agreement resulted from 'months of intense but thorough as well as methodical negotiations' without compromising Malaysia's 'red lines' in strategic sectors. 'Most importantly, we achieved this without conceding on our red lines in key areas,' he said during his keynote at The Edge Malaysia Centurion Club Awards 2025. Protected areas include foreign equity limits in strategic industries, digital legal safeguards, and halal standards. 'The negotiation package was a full-of-nation offer, not just the government, but all (of you)—many companies contributed to that,' he added. Post-deal, the government's focus includes: 1. **Exporter Outreach:** Engaging SMEs and multinationals to mitigate tariff impacts. 2. **Regulatory Reform:** Cutting bureaucratic overlaps and outdated rules. 3. **Supply Chain Mapping:** Strengthening industrial roles in global supply chains. Tengku Zafrul highlighted Malaysia's mid-cap companies (RM100m–RM1b market cap) as vital to the New Industrial Master Plan 2030. Preserve national unity and peace for independence, urges Ewon
PENAMPANG: Entrepreneur and Cooperatives Development Minister Datuk Ewon Benedick has called on Malaysians, particularly in Sabah, to uphold the true meaning of independence by preserving unity, well-being, and peace. He emphasised that harmony and stability are crucial for sustainable national development and sovereignty. 'This all starts with cooperation, unity, and harmony because if the people are at odds with one another, unable to cooperate or be in harmony, how can national sovereignty be defended?' Ewon said after launching the Sabah Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang 2025 convoy. The event, organised by the Sabah Information Department, involves 20 vehicles and 60 participants covering 2,500 kilometres across 75 locations in 20 days. The convoy began in Penampang and will conclude in Tuaran on Aug 23. Ewon encouraged Sabahans to join the 'One House, One Jalur Gemilang' initiative by displaying the national flag at their homes. He also highlighted the relevance of this year's National Day theme, 'Malaysia MADANI, Rakyat Disantuni,' aligning it with the 13th Malaysia Plan's goals of uplifting the people's dignity. 'I hope this theme reaches the grassroots. I am confident that the people understand what the government is doing, which is not only to care for them but also to champion and uplift their dignity,' he said. - Bernama
