Renault Kwid EV Snapped In India Again: All About Tiago EV Rival
It is worth mentioning that this is not the first time the Kwid EV has been seen in the country. The car was spotted by an enthusiast earlier in August last year. Unlike this time, the previously spotted unit had no camouflage. This time around, the camouflage hides most of the details, revealing only the design of the taillamp. This is a Y-shaped design. Another important detail is the presence of steel wheels on the unit.

The car will likely be a rebadged version of the Dacia Spring EV sold in the international market. If launched, it will be the only electric vehicle of the brand in the country. Chances are, it will be equipped with a 26.8 kWh battery pack offering a claimed range of up to 225 km on a single charge. The charge from the battery will be used by a 65 hp motor with 113 Nm peak torque.
The interior is anticipated to feature a 10-inch touchscreen, a 7-inch digital display, and power-operated windows for all doors. It might also include cruise control and vehicle-to-load (V2L) capabilities to power external devices, which are relatively rare in this segment.
As of now, there is no word on when the Renault Kwid EV will launch in the country. Speculating on it, this event will likely be scheduled in 2026. Additionally, it is expected to be priced at approximately Rs 7-8 lakh ex-showroom.

It has been reported that the model will be sold in more than 70 markets, including the Indian market, followed by Latin America, Turkey and more. The upcoming offering is a part of the company's four-car game plan, which will be introduced in the International market. The model is expected to hit the Indian shore somewhere in 2026. The report says that the company has developed the SUV specifically for the markets, barring Europe. It will be a seven-seater SUV, based on the ultra-flexible platform. Talking about the overall dimension, the model will feature 4.50 meters in length, 1.84 meters in width, and will have a wheelbase of 2700 mm. It will come with shorter overhangs, offering a maximum cabin space. When it comes to the key highlights, it will get a body-colored grille with a backlit NouvelR emblem, featuring fully LED elements at both ends, decent-sized fenders, and 19-inch alloy rims. These elements will make it look superior in the segment, and are likely to capture the masses, especially in the Indian market. Engine and Power Under the hood, the Boreal will use a robust 1.3-litre turbocharged engine. It will be offered in both petrol and flex-fuel variants, depending on the market. The latter will churn out a maximum power of 160 bhp and a peak torque of up to 270 Nm. The unit will be mated with a 6-speed dual-clutch transmission. Renault unveils Boreal SUV based on ultra-flexible modular platform. Will it come to India?
The upcoming Renault Boreal is a family-focused C-segment SUV. Notify me Renault has officially presented the Boreal, a new C-segment SUV developed specifically for markets outside Europe. Positioned as a key component in the brand's international growth strategy, the Boreal is built on Renault Group's new ultra-flexible modular platform. The Renault Boreal forms part of the brand's International Game Plan 2024–2027, under which the company has committed €3 billion to develop eight new models for markets outside Europe. Manufacturing operations for the Boreal will be split between Brazil, for distribution across 17 Latin American countries, and Turkey, for supply to 54 additional markets in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean. Renault Boreal: Design and dimensions The Renault Boreal measures 4,556 mm in length, 1,841 mm in width (excluding mirrors), and 1,650 mm in height with roof bars. Its 2,702 mm wheelbase and 213 mm ground clearance reflect proportions typical of family-oriented C-segment SUVs. The design combines flowing, sculptural lines with structured technical details, aligning with regional preferences in Latin America and other key markets. The exterior features a full body-colour grille incorporating Renault's new 'Nouvel'R' logo and a lighting signature derived from the Renault Niagara concept. Additional elements include 19-inch alloy wheels, a two-tone roof, aluminium skid plates, and a panoramic sunroof. It is equipped with two 10-inch screens, one serving as the digital instrument panel and the other as the central multimedia display. The dashboard layout draws inspiration from Renault's recent EV models, such as the Renault 5 E-Tech. Interior highlights include a refrigerated central console, dual-zone automatic climate control, 48-colour ambient lighting, and upholstery adapted to specific regional markets. Rear-seat features include ventilation nozzles, USB-C ports, and a 40/60 folding bench with Easy Break function. Boot space is rated at 586 litres, expanding to 1,770 litres with rear seats folded. There's also a Harman Kardon sound system developed in collaboration with musician Jean-Michel Jarre, offering five customised sound profiles. Check details Renault Boreal: Modular platform and engine The Boreal is the second model after the Renault Kardian to utilise the company's new modular platform designed specifically for markets outside Europe. This architecture allows for flexibility in vehicle dimensions and supports a variety of powertrain options to suit local regulatory and customer requirements. At launch, the Boreal will be offered with a 1.3-litre TCe turbocharged direct-injection engine, available in both petrol and Flex Fuel versions. Outputs range from 138 hp in Turkey to 163 hp in Brazil, with torque figures of up to 270 Nm. The engine is paired with a 6-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission, which Renault claims is specifically developed for these markets. The latest SUV from Renault will get an IC engine. Renault Boreal: Digital services and Google integration The vehicle features Renault's OpenR Link multimedia system with native Google Automotive Services. This includes Google Maps, Google Assistant, and access to over 100 applications via Google Play. The system supports over-the-air (OTA) updates for both infotainment and driving aids, while users can access remote functions via the My Renault app. Through this app, owners can monitor maintenance needs, receive alerts, and perform vehicle diagnostics. Renault Boreal: Will it come to India? At this stage, the Boreal is scheduled for Latin America, Turkey, the Middle East, and the Mediterranean region from late 2025 onwards. There is no formal announcement regarding its potential launch in India. However, the brand has mentioned that it will be launching the SUV in other regions by 2026. Given India's growing interest in mid-size SUVs, the modular nature of the Boreal's platform could allow Renault to adapt and localise the vehicle for Indian conditions in the future. For now, the Renault Boreal represents a significant step in Renault's non-European market expansion, but its arrival in India remains speculative. Built on Renault Group's modular platform, the Boreal is the fourth model under the ' Renault International Game Plan 2024–2027 ', which includes €3 billion in investments and eight new vehicles for global markets. The Boreal will be produced in Curitiba, Brazil, for Latin America, and Bursa, Turkey, for Eastern Europe and the Mediterranean basin. At 4.56 metres long with a 2.70-metre wheelbase, the Boreal is a family-focused SUV with dynamic styling, including sculptural lines, 19-inch wheels, a panoramic sunroof and advanced lighting. Features Inside, the Boreal boasts a dual 10-inch screen setup with Google Automotive Services built in, which integrates Google Maps, Assistant, and Play Store. This is paired with a Harman Kardon sound system tuned by Jean-Michel Jarre to enhance the high-tech audio listening experience. Comfort features include power-adjustable ventilated seats, ambient lighting in 48 colours, dual-zone air conditioning, and ample boot space of up to 1,279 litres with the seats folded. The Boreal is equipped with up to 24 advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS), including lane-keeping assist, emergency braking, and a 360-degree camera system. It also supports hands-free parking and Level 2 autonomous driving via Adaptive Cruise Control and Lane Centering Assist. At launch, the SUV will feature a 1.3L turbocharged petrol or Flex-Fuel engine with up to 163 hp, mated to a six-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. Renault has also introduced a new Smart mode in its Multi-Sense system for adaptive driving responses.
