England vs India LIVE SCORE UPDATES, 3rd Test Day 3: Rahul-Pant put up 100-run stand; 200 up for IND

ENG vs IND 3rd Test Day 3 Live Updates: As Day 3 of the third Test between England and India begins at Lord's, KL Rahul and Rishabh Pant will take the crease to start the day for India, looking for a first-innings lead. The wicket at Lord's has been pretty tricky so far, with batters finding it tough to score runs with ease, and things are unlikely to change today. But Rahul is set, and a sensible way of batting is his style of play. He will also have Pant playing alongside him, who can punish any bad ball bowled by the English bowlers.
On the other hand, England will feel comfortable with three wickets for just 145 runs conceded, as they will try to get one or two wickets early in the day to put India on the back foot.
Need of aggression with sensibility
While keeping it steady has been the mantra for batters so far in the match, India will still need to add some quick runs as only two days of play will be left after today, and it might be tough to end both innings quickly if batters decide not to go for big ones.
India vs England 3rd Test Day 2 Highlights
On Day 2, India first bundled out England for 387 in the first innings, thanks to Bumrah's five-wicket haul. But their start with the bat was underwhelming as Yashasvi Jaiswal (13) lost his wicket to Jofra Archer early. Karun Nair (40) looked in good form but was dismissed by a brilliant catch from Root off Stokes. The last wicket on the day for India was probably the biggest one, as it was skipper Shubman Gill who fell for just 16. Rahul (53*), and Pant (19*) kept things steady after that as India finished the day with 145 for 3 on the board, still trailing by 242 runs.

Akash Deep review system: India pacer survives 2 terrible LBW calls from Bangladesh umpire

India fast bowler Akash Deep survived two back-to-back LBW calls from umpire Sharfuddoula in India's 3rd Test match against England. Batting late on Day 3 of the Test match, Akash Deep was pinned in front of the stumps twice by Chris Woakes in the 114th over of the Indian innings. Given out both times by the on-field umpire, Bangladesh's Sharfuddoula, Akash Deep called for the DRS review and first instance came on the second ball of Chris Woakes' over, right after the seamer had taken the wicket of Ravindra Jadeja. In the second ball of the over, Woakes' inswinger hit Akash Deep on the front pad. Given the ball was jagging back into the stumps, it felt odd that the umpire called it out on-field. England vs India 3rd Test Day 3: Updates Akash Deep reviewed the decision straight away, and the Decision Review System showed that the ball would have missed the leg stump. Two balls later, once again, another nip-backer from Woakes hit Akash Deep on the pads, this time on the back one, and Sharfuddoula gave it out once again.A frustrated Akash Deep called for the DRS once again and was vindicated against Sharfuddoula - twice in the space of three crowd at Lord's cheered Akash Deep's successful reviews, while fans on social media did not waste time in calling out the umpire. Akash Deep, on the other hand, enjoyed a lot of support from social media after displaying an incredible understanding of where his stumps were. After surviving two DRS calls, Akash Deep hit a massive six off Jofra Archer, before getting out in the 117th over of the innings. He dug out a Brydon Carse yorker, hoping to guide the ball through third man for a four, but a sensational diving effort from Harry Brook ruined his plan. Akash Deep scored 7 runs from 10 balls.\India-England Level after 1st InningsIndia were bowled out for 387 runs against England in their 1st innings with the bat. At the end of Day 3, the two teams remained unseparated from each other. For India, KL Rahul scored a hundred at Lord's, his second at the venue in Test cricket. Rishabh Pant and Ravindra Jadeja scored crucial fifties, while Karun Nair and Nitish Reddy played crucial hands at either ends of the innings.- EndsTune InMust Watch

Rishabh Pant Or KL Rahul: Who Was At Fault For Run-Out? Ex-India Coach Dissects

Anil Kumble has analysed who was at fault in the disastrous run-out of Rishabh Pant. Former India leg-spinner and captain Anil Kumble felt Rishabh Pant's unfortunate run-out was completely unnecessary and a fault of both him and the non-striker, KL Rahul. Pant got out for 74 (112) at the stroke of Lunch on Day 3. He and Rahul had put up a 141-run stand together, going through the entire session, besting several different plans from Ben Stokes. But perhaps attempting to bring Rahul — at 98 — on strike for the last few balls of the session, Pant took on Ben Stokes at short cover after a defensive push. The England captain was sharp to pick it up, turn and hit the target to catch him short. 'I think initially Rishabh Pant called and then hesitated, thinking there was no run," Kumble said on JioHotstar. 'KL Rahul, however, was off the blocks immediately. Rishabh Pant's initial hesitation probably delayed his response. And then he had to take off because KL was running straight through and on target. This was unnecessary because they could have just blocked the next three balls, gone to lunch, and then continued their great work," he added. Kumble rued the waste of the partnership that at one stage looked like will take India past England's 387-run score. 'I thought India blunted England's attack. Initially, Jofra Archer bowled sharply, but the short bowling was a bit too predictable, especially to KL Rahul. India navigated that phase comfortably and began attacking after about 45 or 50 minutes. The last hour certainly belonged to India, with nearly every over producing a boundary. Both batters were absolutely comfortable until Pant's indecision. He hesitated for just a fraction of a second, which cost him his wicket," Kumble added. Rahul reached his century after the break but got out for exactly 100, edging one to slips against Shoaib Bashir. 'I look at this and go, wow, what a lifeline this is for England. It's a huge lifeline," Harminson said. 'I thought England bowled really well in that first half-hour. KL Rahul played naturally, accepting what was on offer, and executed some beautiful shots square of the wicket for boundaries. 'And Rishabh, I've stopped trying to understand what goes on inside that young man's head. But it's brilliant. It is so good to watch. He has just accelerated the game for India. So, I think England are getting a massive lifeline with that little bit of indecision with the runner," he added. India didn't lose any more wickets before Tea, ending the session 71 runs behind England with Ravindra Jadeja and Nitish Reddy solid at the crease. view comments First Published: July 12, 2025, 20:33 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's. Jofra Archer's Reaction After Akash Deep Hits Him For A Six Goes Viral

Akash Deep came out to bat at No. 9 for India in the first innings and scored 7 runs from 10 balls on Saturday. Akash Deep came out to bat at No. 9 for India in the first innings of the ongoing third Test against England at Lord's, and on the first ball of the 116th over, he hammered England fast bowler Jofra Archer for a big six. Archer, who is playing his first Test for England after more than four years this week, was not expecting Akash to take an aerial route against him, and so after getting hit for a biggie, he gave a surprise reaction, and the clip of his expression is now going viral on the internet. Akash, who made his Test debut for India against England in Ranchi last year, however, failed to do much with the bat on Saturday apart from hitting that big six. He was sent back to the pavilion by Brydon Carse on the first ball of the 117th over. Harry Brook completed a brilliant catch of him in the slips to help Carse take his first wicket of the ongoing match. 1 wicket for Archer In the first innings of his first Test for England after February 2021, Archer bowled 23 overs and picked up one wicket for 52 runs. He opened his wicket account by dismissing Yashasvi Jaiswal for 13 runs on the third ball of his first over. The left-handed Indian batter was caught by Brook. India had high hopes from Jaiswal at the Home of Cricket, and the world No. 4 Test batter got off to a great start as well, but he failed to convert it into a big knock. view comments First Published: July 12, 2025, 22:36 IST Disclaimer: Comments reflect users' views, not News18's.
