However, this time around, Istanbul giants Galatasaray are ready to try and make a move for Calhanoglu.
It's not just Galatasaray who are keen on the former AC Milan midfielder, though.

Croatia Star Ready To Put Calhanoglu On Notice & Fight For Spot In Inter Milan Midfield Next Season

Croatia Star Ready To Put Calhanoglu On Notice & Fight For Spot In Inter Milan Midfield Next Season Summer signing Petar Sucic is ready to fight Hakan Calhanoglu for a starting spot in the Inter Milan midfield next season. This according to today's print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. Advertisement Petar Sucic really announced himself as an Inter Milan player against River Plate. The Croat had already made a couple appearances off the bench for Inter at the Club World Cup. There were cameos against the likes of Monterrey and Urawa Red Diamonds. But after those two relatively unimpressive displays, Sucic was decisive against River. He even provided the assist for Inter's all-important opening goal. (Photo by) Now that Sucic has truly arrived at Inter, there is a feeling that the 21-year-old could already play a big role next season. It will not be easy for Sucic to break into the Nerazzurri midfield. Advertisement Under Simone Inzaghi, the hierarchy had been absolutely abundantly clear in central areas. However, there is a feeling that Cristian Chivu is open to changing things. The new coach is allowing every player to stake their claim to a starting spot. In the view of the Gazzetta, it is Calhanoglu who is really on notice from Sucic. Naturally, Henrikh Mkhitaryan will see his playing time wind down next season considering his age. Meanwhile, Nicolo Barella will certainly need a rest here and there with the fixture list Inter will have. Therefore, these will all constitute opportunities for Sucic. However, the Gazzetta anticipate, the Croatian international could look to stake his claim on a deeper midfield role. Advertisement Hakan Calhanoglu has been the decisive influence in that position for Inter in recent seasons. However, the Gazzetta argue, Sucic could have the right qualities to put the former AC Milan man on notice.

Hakan Calhanoglu, Piotr Zielinski, Benjamin Pavard, and Yann Bisseck have all already returned to Italy. Advertisement Meanwhile, striker Mehdi Taremi remains stuck in Iran due to Israeli airstrikes. However, there are a couple pieces of good news for Inter on the fitness front. Firstly, striker Marcus Thuram will be able to return. The Frenchman had come off the bench in Inter's group stage opener against Monterrey. However, a lack of fitness was evident. Then, Thuram missed subsequent group stage matches against Urawa Red Diamonds and River Plate. This was due to a thigh problem. Tagliafico remains Roma's alternative to De Cuyper

Roma are taking steps to find a replacement for Angeliño in the event of the Spaniard's departure, due to the need to balance the books due to the 'Financial Fair Play'. The other left winger Anass Salah-Eddine will probably also leave on loan. Advertisement According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Giallorossi are trying to convince Maxim De Cuyper, the Belgian full-back from Club Bruges who has expressed his desire to change teams: it is a deal worth 20 million euros. However, Roma, should the deal not come to fruition, has an alternative ready: Nicolàs Tagliafico, the Argentine full-back from Lyon who is leaving on a free transfer. Tagliafico will be officially released starting June 30 and his name is among those on Frederic Massara's shortlist. A possible arrival on a free transfer would represent an important opportunity for the capital club.
