'He needed help': Friend of Anaconda shooting suspect Michael Brown says he was struggling with PTSD, thought he was still in Army
Michael Paul Brown, the suspect of Friday morning's mass shooting at The Owl Bar in Anaconda, is still at large and now people who know him revealed what made the Army veteran a crazy gunman who killed four inside the bar.
Brown was last seen driving a stolen 2007 white Ford F-150 pickup truck bearing Montana license plate DTY493. The vehicle was reportedly heading west from Anaconda on Stumptown Road at the time it was spotted.
Brown was described as a 5 feet 10 inches tall person, weighing around 170 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair. His residence, located next to the bar, was cleared by a SWAT team, but he was not found there.
The shooting spread panic as the small Anaconda city was put on lockdown during the search.
As of 9:40 pm yesterday, the Granite County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Brown was still at large. 'There is a perimeter set in the Stumptown area,' the agency stated in a public advisory. 'Granite County Deputies will be patrolling the Georgetown Lake area and nearby towns. Stay vigilant—lock your doors and vehicles.'
According to a local news report, one friend described Brown as a "gentle soul" who was struggling with PTSD and it was known to everyone in the area.

45-year-old Brown served in teh US Army as an armor crewman from 2001 to 2005 and was deployed to Iraq between early 2004 and March 2005. He later served in the Montana National Guard from 2006 until March 2009, leaving military service with the rank of sergeant.
Brown's friend said he had untreated mental health issues and used to share delusional stories about still operating in special forces. Local residents were concerned about his mental health and it was reported to the authorities but there was no intervention.
'He needed help,' the friend said. 'It's devastating that no one listened until it was too late.'
Bar owner David Gwerder, who was not present during the shooting, told the Associated Press that he believes Brown personally knew all four victims. 'He didn't have any disputes with them. I just think he snapped,' Gwerder said.

Ahmedabad man refuses to get snacks for booze party, beaten up
Ahmedabad: A 27-year-old man from the Gita Mandir area was assaulted by an acquaintance after he refused to fetch soda and namkeen for a booze session, according to a complaint filed with Kagdapith police. The complainant, a resident of Ekta Nagar near Gita Mandir, works at a tailoring shop in Gheekanta. "On Saturday, at around 8.30pm, I went to Shiv Studio near Chhipa Kabristan to get some photos taken, but the shop was closed. There, I saw my friend, who lives at Patravali Chali, sitting in an auto," the complainant said. After exchanging pleasantries, the friend asked the complainant to get soda and snacks for a small booze party. "When I refused, he began hurling filthy abuses at me. I asked him not to use such language, but he got aggressive and started hitting me with a stick. I fell to the ground," the FIR states. Five pilgrims die, 5 injured as pickup van overturns in Bhagalpur
Bhagalpur: Five young ' kanwariyas ' (pilgrims), who were on their way to Sultanganj to fetch holy Ganga water, died, while five others were injured, when their pickup van overturned in Belthu village under Sahkund police station in Bhagalpur district around 12.50am on Monday. The deceased, identified as Santosh Kumar (18), Manoj Kumar (24), Vikram Kumar (23), Ankush Kumar (18) and Ravish Kumar alias Munna (18), were residents of Kherai village under Sahkund police station. The injured were admitted to the primary health centre (PHC) at Sahkund. According to sources, the pilgrims had set out for Sultanganj to take a holy dip in the river Ganga and collect its holy water for paying obeisance at Jethor Nath temple in neighbouring Banka district on the occasion of the last 'somwari' (auspicious Monday in the holy month of Shrawan). On Shahkund-Sultanganj road, the driver of the speeding pickup van lost control while negotiating a rainwater-filled ditch and overturned, said the sources. Following the accident, Sahkund and dial-112 police were called by other pilgrims. "A rescue operation was undertaken. The local police, along with the district administration officials, are camping at the spot. We are recommending compensation as per the statutory norms of the govt," said the SDO. Navneet Kumar, DSP (law and order), said that the police teams from Sahkund and other police stations rushed to the spot within minutes of receiving the information. An FIR has been lodged in this connection, he said. One of the injured, Pintu Kumar, narrating the incident, said that the pickup van skidded on the road due to the crater and sludge on the road. The pickup van eventually fell into a water-filled ditch by the roadside, added the survivor. JD(U) MLA from Sultanganj, Lalit Narayan Mandal, who is also camping at Sahkund, said, "We will ensure that the victims' kin receive proper compensation."
