Google Cloud Summit Doha Marks Two Years, Showcases AI and Qatar's Digital Growth
The Google Cloud Summit Doha showcased the vibrant tech ecosystem in Qatar and Google Cloud's commitment to it. Attendees experienced keynotes from Google Cloud executives and Qatari leaders, gained insights into transformative AI technologies like Gemini, AI Agents, and NotebookLM, heard compelling customer success stories, and participated in deep-dive sessions on data management and cybersecurity. This ongoing partnership with Qatar is poised to play a vital role in building a resilient, secure, and digitally advanced ecosystem in the nation.
Mr. Sami Al Shammari, Assistant Undersecretary for Infrastructure and Operations Affairs at MCIT, stated: "Our collaboration with Google Cloud has served as a key enabler in Qatar's journey toward a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy. Since the launch of the Doha cloud region two years ago, this collaboration has yielded tangible outcomes that directly support the objectives of Qatar National Vision 2030, particularly in enhancing digital infrastructure, delivering scalable and secure government services, and building a future-ready digital workforce."
Mr. Sami added that "by providing access to cutting-edge cloud technologies, Google Cloud is empowering entities alike to innovate, improve service delivery, and accelerate progress across key sectors. beIN partners with PayLater to expand payment options
Tribune News Network Doha beIN Media Group (beIN), the global sports, entertainment and media group, has signed a Partnership Agreement with PayLater, Qatar's first licensed Buy Now, Pay Later (BNPL) provider. The partnership enables customers in Qatar to pay for all beIN products, including new subscriptions and package renewals, using interest-free instalment plans, both for online payments and in-store purchase transactions. To mark the occasion, a signing ceremony was held on Wednesday 16 July, at beIN's MENA Headquarters in Doha, attended by Hamad Aljaber, regional sales manager at beIN MENA, and Mohammed Abdulaziz Al Delaimi, co-founder of PayLater. MCIT participates in WSIS+20 Forum 2025
QNA Geneva Reaffirming Qatar's steadfast commitment to global digital cooperation and its active contribution to shaping the digital future, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology (MCIT) participated in the High-Level Events of the World Summit on the Information Society +20 (WSIS+20) Forum 2025, held from July 7 to 12. The sessions addressed key themes, including digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and the advancement of digital government services. The participation included the attendance of minister's advisor, and Artificial Intelligence Committee Chairman, Hassan Jassim Al Sayed, at the official opening of the WSIS+20 Forum. Al Sayed delivered an intervention during the Ministerial Roundtable, in which he presented Qatar's national vision for advancing its digital priorities. He highlighted Qatar's ongoing efforts to strengthen digital infrastructure, design inclusive and accessible government services, and advance key national AI initiatives, such as the development of the Arabic AI project Fanar, the issuance of Principles and Guidelines for Ethical Use and Development of Artificial Intelligence, and the integration of generative AI technologies in government operations in partnership with leading global tech firms. MCIT concluded its participation with the session titled 'Leaders TalkX: Building inclusive and knowledge-driven digital societies', which explored ways to promote digital inclusion and expand equitable access to information and knowledge in the digital age. The session also emphasized the importance of developing robust digital infrastructure and forward-looking policies that foster knowledge production and contribute to building more inclusive and sustainable digital societies. Through this participation, the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening Qatar's position on the global digital stage, fostering knowledge exchange, and building strategic partnerships that support digital innovation, sustainable technology solutions, and the country's leadership in the ICT sector at the international level.
