
Chadwick encouraged by female participation in motorsport before Le Mans debut
The 27-year-old has long been an advocate of promoting women in motorsport, including founding her own female karting championship, and is convinced the motor racing landscape is finally beginning to change.
She will make her debut at the Circuit de la Sarthe driving for the French IDEC team, alongside Mathys Jaubert and the Le Mans veteran Andre Lotterer, a three-time winner of the world's greatest sports car race.
'I'm really encouraged by everything that we're doing now for women in the sport. If you look where we were six or seven years ago, it's a huge transition,' Chadwick says. 'Walk into any paddock now and you see the amount of female mechanics, engineers, drivers. It's changing so quickly and that's only going to go from strength to strength. I think in the next decade we'll see a huge transition, which is encouraging.
'Maybe to some people it seems forced, too much in one favour but it's important for that and in the short term it will make some difference but in the long term it's going to make a massive difference.'
She goes into the 93rd edition of the meeting, that starts at 5pm BST on Saturday, very much on a roll. In the opening two rounds of the European Le Mans Series, she has gained a class win and an overall victory and her car must be considered a contender for a class win at Le Mans, a feat not achieved by a woman since 1975.
She will compete in the LMP2 class, a fiercely competitive field that sits immediately beneath the top hypercar category in a three-class, 62-car field. This season Aston Martin have returned to the top class, with Ferrari vying to take a third consecutive victory since the Scuderia came back in 2023.
Chadwick, who enjoyed great success in sports cars at the beginning of her career, including a victory at the Silverstone 24 Hours in 2015, went on to blaze a trail in single seaters, taking three consecutive titles in the all-female W Series. She then competed for two years in the IndyCar feeder series, Indy Nxt, for Andretti racing, with a pole-to-flag win in 2024.
She is still an ambassador for the Williams F1 team and works with their F1 Academy team but remains ambitious, with a desire to move up to the hypercar category. She says she can contribute, alongside the racing, to further promote change for women in the sport but for the moment is revelling in her chance to take on Le Mans.

'It's such a tough test, it's tough on the teams, tough on the drivers but it's something that for every driver, it's a dream to win one day,' she says. 'It's so pure, it feels very raw.
'You can be a fan of motorsport or not but you can really appreciate it's very special. Three-hundred thousand people come to this and it's a festival, a celebration of motorsport. It's very cool to be a part of it.'

Man makes £20k a month from side hustle that 11m Brits could also do – it's effortless and can be done all year round
A MAN has revealed he makes a whopping £20,000 a month from a little known side hustle, that requires hardly any effort. Barrie Taube, owns 150 garages and 300 car parking spaces across the country, and rents them out to people in need of storage space. 2 2 Renting Out Garages The property investor and surveyor charges between £50 to £150 a month for garages, and between £30 and £60 for car parking spaces. 'We rent to people who live in blocks of flats; we will approach them and see if they want to rent them out", Barrie, who owns that garages through his business Southern Land Securities, told The i Paper. "For the car parking spaces, they might have an extra car or just want an extra space." Barrie revealed that he also rents out his parking spaces to people who need them for a short period of time, such as if they are attending a football match or a concert. In the UK, an estimated 11 million people own a garage, with half of these not used to store cars. That means that millions of Brits could also be cashing in on this side hustle. Hardly Any Maintenance The investor also owns many properties which he rents out to tenants, but revealed that renting out garages comes with many advantages, such as the lack of upkeep. 'There's not much to maintain, just the roof, walls and the garage door", he said. 'If the roof is leaking, you make the decision whether to mend it but, in general, when someone signs the lease, they agree to maintain it and to give it back in the condition they rented it in.' He added that it also costs a lot less to purchase garages, which cost around £10,000 to £30,000 in most locations. How to make cash from renting out your garage If you have spare garage space, you can make cash by renting it out for storage, using websites such as Stashbee and Storemates. You can also advertise your garage on Facebook Marketplace or Gumtree. When listing your garage, make sure to include key details, such as photographs, the size of the space, notable features, and whether the area has its own independent access. It is also a good idea to arrange viewings, to make sure the space is right for potential renters. Make sure to take any costs into account, as Stashbee charges a 5% fee on bookings, while Storemates deducts 16.5% plus 20p from each payment. Gumtree generally offers free advertisements, but specific surcharges apply for garage storage or car parking listings (£8.79) and for linking to an external website (£6.59). According to Stuart Collar-Brown, from online auctioneer Bidx1 UK garages are much more profitable than buy-to-let properties, pulling in yields averaging 10 percent, compared with a 4.75 percent average for rental properties. Landlords Ditching Properties To Rent Out Garages 'Garages offer a great alternative to storage costs for tradesmen, so they'll perform well in densely populated residential areas, especially where houses are rows of Victorian houses [and] where parking on the street is tricky due to a lack of driveways, so demand will outstrip supply.' He added that, in light of the Renters Reform Bill, which is set to come in over the coming months, many landlords are switching their business to garages. 'We're definitely seeing a shift of residential landlords into non-residential assets, so this would include commercial, industrial, garages and other similar asset classes,' he said. 'The sheer amount of red tape that landlords have to wade through now is becoming too much hassle, so they are looking for an easier way to earn yields on their investment." Arguably, the council are no longer building garages either, so the fact that they are not building more suggests, long term, there will be some capital appreciation too.' However, Barrie revealed that since many people have now cottoned on to the fact that garages are good investments, they are reluctant to sell. He added that it can be harder to get loans on garages than properties as banks often ask for larger deposits.

Judy Murray has opened up on the secrets of the Royal Box at Wimbledon as celebrity guests continue to flood into Wimbledon. The Championships are well into their third day, with home favourites Jack Draper and Emma Raducanu preparing for their second round clashes after relatively simple victories in the opening round. While there are 18 Championship grass courts at SW19, all eyes are often on the historic Centre Court, which plays host to the best stars the sport has to offer as they compete for glory. Centre Court boasts nearly 15,000 seats, meaning lucky punters can be seen cheering on their favourites, and are joined by guests in the Royal Box at around lunchtime each day. So far this week, the likes of John Cena, Thomas Tuchel and Olivia Rodrigo have all been present, with all three part of a star-studded line-up in the Box on Wednesday. On Tuesday, however, Murray made an appearance, renown for her coaching work in the sport and her support for tennis-playing sons Andy and Jamie. And, before her trip, she opened up on the ordeal of the Royal Box on The Chris Evans Breakfast Show with The National Lottery on Virgin Radio UK. She added: 'Well, you arrive usually around 11.30, so you go upstairs, they have a champagne reception, then you go in for lunch and you could be sitting beside absolutely anybody at lunch. There's no seating plan, it's just as you go into the room. 'It's in the clubhouse of the All England Club, and the first year that I went I took my mum, of course, and we sat with Jack Nicklaus. I sat with a few years ago a lady who was the first female Spitfire pilot. I mean it's just you could be with absolutely anybody and the stories are fascinating. 'It's really tough when the sun comes round because there's no escape and it's actually I think worse for the guys because they have to wear a jacket and tie and they're not allowed to take the jacket off unless the royalty in the box takes their jacket off first. That's the protocol.' David Beckham was one of the stars in the Royal Box earlier this week and he was seen with his jacket on, as well as his arm in a sling after undergoing surgery. A regular feature at SW19, the former England football captain jetted in overnight to attend the first day of the competition on Monday from Atlanta where his Inter Miami side were knocked out of the Club World Cup. And it was there that Beckham bumped into another England sporting icon in Stuart Broad - as well as Gareth Southgate - who retired as the second-highest wicket-taker among all fast bowlers in Test cricket.
