YSRCP flays govt for pursuing ‘vindictive' politics

Hans Indiaa day ago
Nellore: YSR Congress Party MLC Parvathareddy Chandrasekhar Reddy has alleged that the coalition government headed by Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu was encouraging vindictive politics to divert the attention of people from its failures.
In the wake of the Special Investigation Team (SIT) arresting Rajampet YSRCP MP Peddireddy Reddy Midhun Reddy, Chandrasekhar Reddy addressed a media conference at his camp office here on Sunday.
Speaking on the occasion, the MLC has pointed out that it has become common practice for the coalition government to arrest the YSRCP leaders if they raised queries over its failures in the administration.
Chandrasekhar Reddy pointed out series of arrests of the YSRCP leaders like Kakani Govardhan Reddy, Chevireddy Bhaskar Reddy, Vallabhaneni Vamsi, Krishnamohan Reddy and Dhanunjaya Reddy etc during the past few months.
The MLC alleged that the government which illegally confined former minister Kakani Govardhan Reddy in jail by imposing 17 cases, now freshly targeted the Rajampet MP though he was in no way connected with the liquor policy.
The MLC alleged that Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu developed a personal grudge against ‚ Peddireddy's family as the TDP was wiped out in Chittoor district during 2019 elections.
The MLC said the people of AP were silently watching the vindictive policies being implemented by the TDP-led government and they were waiting for appropriate time to teach a lesson.

Parliament adjourned for third consecutive day as opposition presses for discussion on Bihar SIR, Op Sindoor

Both Houses of the Parliament were adjourned for a third consecutive day of the Monsoon session on Wednesday, as opposition continued disrupting the proceedings, reiterating the demand for discussions on several issues, including the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls in Bihar. Waving placards and raising slogans, opposition members stormed into the Well of the Lok Sabha during the Question Hour, leading to the adjournment of the proceedings for the day. Earlier the proceedings were adjourned till 2 pm when the protests and sloganeering continued. The protests continued when the House reconvened and TDP leader Krishna Prasad Tenneti, who was in the Chair, adjourned the proceedings. Opposition members raised slogans like "SIR wapas lo (Roll back SIR)". Speaker Om Birla said the protesting MPs were behaving as if they were on the streets and warned that he would be forced to take "decisive" action against them. "You should behave in a manner that reflects the hopes and aspirations of the people who have elected you. You should work in a manner and debates and discuss issues that will make people's lives easier. But you have been showing street-like behaviour in Parliament," he said. Birla also told the members that their behaviour does not behove Parliamentarians. "The MPs are not supposed to carry placards. If you continue with such acts, I will be forced to take decisive action," he said and asked the members to take their seats.

SC refuses to hear plea challenging gag order in Dharamsthala case

The Supreme Court on Wednesday declined to hear a petition challenging a sweeping gag order that restrained media houses from reporting on matters related to the brother of Dharamadhikari D Veerendra Heggade of Dharamsthala in Karnataka. The gag order pertained to reports on alleged murder of women in Dharmasthala in the state's Dakshina Kannada district. The plea, filed against an ex parte interim order of a local court, questioned the legality of the directive which directed as many as 390 media houses to remove nearly 9,000 links and stories related to the Dharamsthala burial case. A bench comprising Chief Justice B R Gavai and Justices K Vinod Chandran and Joymalya Bagchi asked the petitioner as to why the high court had not been approached. You go the high court first, the CJI said. The gag order was reportedly passed in a defamation suit filed by Harshendra Kumar, Secretary of Sri Manjunathaswamy Temple institutions, who highlighted the spread of allegedly false and defamatory content online, despite there being no specific allegations against him or the temple authorities in any FIR. Recently, Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara asserted that a thorough investigation must precede any conclusions regarding the alleged murder of women in Dharmasthala. Prior to this, the state government constituted a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe the allegations. The plea in the top court was filed by YouTube channel Third Eye against a Bengaluru court order restraining the publication of any defamatory content against Harshendra Kumar D, brother of Dharmasthala Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade, in relation to the Dharmasthala temple burial case.
