'You always shined brighter': BTS' V aka Kim Taehyung receives heartwarming farewell messages from military friends post discharge
BTS member V, also known as Kim Taehyung, has officially completed his mandatory military service as of June 10. Along with group leader RM, he greeted the press briefly, revealing upcoming plans and thanking ARMYs and fellow soldiers for the support during his military journey.
He served in the elite Special Duty Team (SDT) under the 2nd Corps Military Police Unit, a division known for its intense counterterrorism operations and demanding training. Stationed at the Ssangyong Unit in Chuncheon, Taehyung achieved several commendable milestones throughout his service, but what truly stood out was the deep bond he formed with his fellow soldiers.
As V's discharge date arrived, many of his comrades, most of them younger and a few older, took to sharing heartfelt messages for the Rainy Days singer. Their warm words and sincere goodbyes reflected just how much Taehyung meant to those he served alongside. BTS' V receives heartwarming messages from fellow SDT soldiers
After Taehyung officially wrapped up his military service, it wasn't just ARMYs who were emotional — his fellow soldiers also had a few heartfelt things to say. One of them, a junior who had served in a different unit, left a touching note that perfectly summed up the warmth Taehyung is known for.
'Since we were in different units and you were my superior, I couldn't talk to you as freely as I wanted to,' the message began, as shared by a fan page of the K-pop star. 'But even so, you were kind and warm to the end. You signed my guitar without a second thought — I don't have much to give back, but I hope this little gesture shows how thankful I am.'
The soldier went on to add, 'I hope you shine even brighter in the civilian world as an amazing artist and continue to be someone who makes our country proud as you do now. Congratulations on your discharge!'
[INFO] One of Taehyung's former comrade replied under Taehyung's former military mate's post
'Hyung, you always shined brighter than anyone else in the military with your passionate (heart) and diligence. I will forever cheer you on so you can shine even brighter in the outside… pic.twitter.com/oAbUG1aYGv — TAE GUIDE (@taeguide) June 10, 2025
Another touching tribute came from a fellow soldier who trained alongside him in the Special Duty Team (SDT) and also attended his discharge ceremony.
'You're even cooler because you're the hyung who went through all the hardships with me. Congratulations on discharge, hyung!' The comrade wrote, sharing his admiration and gratitude for Taehyung not just as a celebrity but as a teammate who endured the same intense training and challenges. View this post on Instagram
Another SDT member jumped into the comments, continuing the thread of warmth and respect among the unit. He said, "Hyung, you always shined brighter than anyone else in the military with your passionate heart and diligence. I will forever cheer you on so you can shine even brighter in the outside world. During his discharge ceremony, the Winter Bear singer didn't just thank his fans — he opened up about the personal transformation he went through during his military service. Clad in uniform and standing tall as Sergeant Kim Taehyung of the 2nd Corps Direct Unit, Ssangyong Special Task Force, he greeted reporters and fans with sincerity and a full heart.
'I have been officially discharged from the military,' V said, before reflecting on the time he spent in one of South Korea's most elite military units. 'It's been a time of growth for me — both physically and mentally. I feel like I've rebuilt myself from the ground up, and now I'm truly ready to return to ARMY.'
To the fans who stood by him during his service, V offered genuine thanks. 'To all the ARMYs who waited for me throughout my service, I want to sincerely thank you from the bottom of my heart,' he shared, adding a little promise: 'Just a little more patience, and we'll be back with amazing performances.'
He didn't forget his fellow soldiers either. With a respectful nod to the camaraderie he built over the past 18 months, he said, 'I also want to thank my unit and the people I served with — your support and kindness meant a lot to me.' V closed the moment with a salute, gently noting, 'My voice is a little hoarse,' hinting at just how emotional and meaningful the moment had been.

Saiyaara Beats BLACKPINK, Billie Eilish, Justin Bieber To Top Spotify's Global Viral 50
Last Updated: Saiyaara becomes 1st Indian song to top Spotify Global Viral 50, beating BLACKPINK, Billie Eilish & Justin Bieber. A milestone moment for Indian music. The Saiyaara wave shows no signs of slowing down. The film's hauntingly beautiful title track has not only taken over Indian cinema halls but is now echoing across global playlists, creating history as the first-ever Indian song to top Spotify's Global Viral 50 chart. Sung by Faheem Abdullah and composed by Tanishk Bagchi, Saiyaara has surged past international music heavyweights like Justin Bieber, Billie Eilish, Lady Gaga, Bruno Mars, BLACKPINK, and Sabrina Carpenter, marking a watershed moment for Indian music on the world stage. Celebrating the milestone, composer Tanishk Bagchi shared a heartfelt post on Instagram, 'We did it. Saiyaara is now #1 on Global Viral Spotify. This moment belongs to every heartbeat behind the song." View this post on Instagram A post shared by Tanishk (@tanishk_bagchi) Bagchi went on to thank the creative team, writing, 'Thank you to Mohit Suri sir, the man with the vision. Irshad bhai, for penning words that pierced hearts. Arsalan & Faheem, your music and your voice brought the sky closer. YRF, for backing us with belief. And to every listener, every sharer, every dreamer — this is yours too." He concluded with a powerful declaration, 'Indian music isn't rising. It's already flying. Saiyaara is the proof." For years, Tanishk Bagchi's name has been synonymous with Bollywood hits—but also with controversy. Known for delivering chartbusters at lightning speed, the composer has often been criticised for relying too heavily on remakes. But with Saiyaara, the soulful title track from Mohit Suri's latest romantic drama, Bagchi feels he has finally broken free of the label—and found long-overdue vindication. 'People used to say that I only recreated songs. But they didn't know that I have composed a number of good original songs as well," he told Hindustan Times. 'Par ab Saiyaara se logo ko pata chal raha hai ki Tanishk Bagchi original mein bhi baap hai (People are finally realising that I'm a master at originals too). I'm really loving it all. I've received a lot of encouragement." Meanwhile, the film Saiyaara is rewriting box office records. Headlined by newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda, the Mohit Suri directorial opened with a staggering ₹21 crore, the highest-ever first-day collection for a debutant-led film.
