Lá Fhéile PIERS'; Outspoken British broadcaster Piers Morgan is soon to become 'Proud Irish man'
The London-based Morgan, can trace his roots back to Galway and Offaly and the former tabloid editor says he will proudly assume the BIFFO moniker.

His biological father, Vincent Eamonn O'Meara, who died when Piers was just a year old, was an Irish dentist from Galway. But Morgan says his familial connection to Ireland runs deep and he has a particular affinity with Brian Cowen's home county of Offaly.

The controversial TV host also revealed this week that he is on the road to solidifying his Irish-ness and obtaining an Irish passport.

In an interview last week the typically irascible Morgan informed the nation of Ireland,
'My connection to Offaly is only that my aunt, my father's sister, moved to Banagher where my cousins grew up. So I'm not actually a proper Biffo at all. In 2018 Morgan posted a picture to his Twitter feed of himself draped in the tricolour with the accompanying caption stating: 'Seems a good moment to remind everyone I'm Irish'.
Then the following year in 2019 Morgan said he is by birthright a proud Irishman saying 'I was born in England and support England at sport, but I have zero English DNA and am Irish by blood and birthright,' he tweeted in 2019. Piers Morgan. Pic: X
So while Ireland may or may not like it, we may have to make room for one more, as Piers Morgan, or Paddy Morgan, may soon be a bona fide Irish passport holder.

What's behind the online 'nude pics' row between Azealia Banks and Conor McGregor?
A SOMEWHAT UNEXPECTED row between rapper Azelia Banks and Conor McGregor blew up yesterday after the New York musician posted what appeared to be nude photos of the former MMA fighter. Banks is a 34-year-old rapper from Harlem who broke into the global music scene with her smash hit '212′ in 2012, and has had a number of critically acclaimed albums. She is also well-known for her controversial and often changing opinions and statements – in 2019, for instance, she described Irish people as 'a bunch of prideful inbred leprechauns' after a sold-out gig in Dublin. Yesterday morning she posted two photos on X, seemingly of McGregor, in which he was nude in front of a mirror. In one of the photos he appeared to have a weight hanging from his penis, and there was an accompanying message – apparently from McGregor to Banks – which read: 'Don't be a rat cos all rats get caught'. In a further tweet, tagging McGregor, Banks says: 'Like how are you really going to sexually harass me with the potato farmer d*** then threaten me not to tell??? 'Honey…… ain't u trying to be the president of Ireland what is it giving fam? Advertisement 'Use some f***ing sunscreen damn.' Later, Banks further tweeted that she and McGregor 'have been sending each other unsolicited nudes since 2016″. X removed the original photos that Banks posted. McGregor hasn't commented on the posts, but has been active online including posting videos of himself on a yacht and sharing a 'Happy Birthday' message to himself. The Journal has contacted representation for both McGregor and Banks for comment. Appeal over civil court sexual abuse verdict McGregor was deemed liable for sexually assaulting Nikita Hand in the Beacon Hotel on 9 December 2018 following a three-week civil trial at the High Court, with the jury in the case awarding Hand over €248,000 in damages. McGregor, who had denied the allegations, subsequently appealed the jury's decision and is seeking a re-trial of the civil case against him. At the start of this month, lawyers for McGregor withdrew their application to introduce new evidence as part of his appeal against the civil jury finding. Colin Farrell, Ruth Negga and Sharon Horgan among Emmy nominees
COLIN FARRELL HAS been nominated for an Emmy for his role in The Penguin. Based on the DC Comics character of the same name, The Penguin is a spin-off from the 2022 film The Batman. Farrell has already won a Golden Globe and a Screen Actors Guild award the role. The Castleknock native is nominated for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Limited Series, alongside Stephen Graham (Adolescence), Jake Gyllenhal (Presumed Innocent), Brian Tyree Henry (Dope Thief), and Cooper Koch (Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story). The Penguin also picked up two other nominations, including Outstanding Limited Series or Anthology. Cristin Milioti got nominated in the Lead Actress in a Limited Series category for her role as villain Sofia Falcone. Another Irish star, Sharon Horgan, got a nomination for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series, for her role in Bad Sisters. Huge ITV drama ‘facing axe' dealt fresh blow as creator quits after he's slammed for woke storylines
DESPITE gaining a huge following since its launch a decade ago, cold case series Unforgotten feels to some fans as if it is losing its way a little. He said: 'I'll probably hand on the baton after this series. I'll still be involved, but I've written 42 episodes and don't want to repeat myself.' In an interview with the Royal Television Society, Chris added: 'I wouldn't write it if I didn't have something to say about the state of the nation. 'Because Unforgotten has an inherent and robust structure, that allows me space to hold up a mirror to British society — it's a Trojan horse show.'
