All 6 episodes of 'compelling' mystery thriller are streaming now on Netflix
Another week, another thriller for fans to dig their teeth into, this time over on Netflix.
The French mystery series, Under A Dark Sun, has already entered the top 10 TV shows on the streamer, promising a 'heartfelt' and 'suspenseful' experience for viewers who tune into this six-episode drama.
The show follows runaway single mother Alba Mazier (Ava Baya) whose boss, Arnaud Lasserre (Thibault De Montalembert), is killed 'just hours into starting her new job'.
Now the main suspect, she becomes intertwined in a conspiracy full of 'deep-rooted secrets and morally grey decisions'.
'[When] her name mysteriously appears in his will, how far will she go to force the truth from his family?' the synopsis of the fast-paced miniseries concludes.

As teased by Time: 'What begins as a murder case quickly spirals into something much more complex: a dark family history full of hidden paternity, forced silence, and decades of manipulation.'
The series also stars two-time Oscar nominee Isabelle Adjani as the ill-fated Arnaud's wife, Beatrice.
The feel of the show has been compared to the likes of Harlan Coben's mystery thrillers, which have stirred up a storm on the streaming platform with huge viewership for adaptations like Fool Me Once and Missing You.
'There's a lot to like about Under A Dark Sun, like Baya's intensity as Alba and Adjani's insouciant performance as Beatrice, who seems so unfazed by Arnaud's death that she wears a pink suit to his funeral and reads a eulogy she created with ChatGPT.
The Devil's Leap on Channel 4: When a former special forces father takes his daughter on a hike, their bonding opportunity soon takes a turn for the worse when they witness a murder – and are soon being pursued by a gang.
La Fortuna on ITVX: Stanley Tucci stars in this Spanish-American adventure drama based on an incredible true story about a diplomat 'leading a team of treasure hunters'.
The Glass Dome on Netflix: This Swedish drama follows a criminologist who returns to her small hometown and 'becomes wrapped up in the investigation of a missing girl and its haunting similarities to her own childhood abduction'.
'That back and forth between these two very opposite characters should drive the tension in this series,' Decider wrote in a review.
The Review Geek pointed out the show's sometimes clunky plotting but added: 'Under a Dark Sun is an easy binge with strong performances, a compelling lead, and just enough intrigue to carry you through.'
Over on IMDb, user zeksozen called it a 'tense and intriguing' and said it was 'a hidden gem for those who enjoy European crime dramas with a moody, cinematic style'.
Proceed with caution, however, as not all the reviews have been glowing, with some calling it a 'weird' storyline filled with sometimes 'unnecessary twists'. More Trending
You'll have to tune in to decide whether it's down your alley.
There's a growing market for European thrillers in the UK, with plenty of options if you find yourself hooked after this one.
Just last week, Channel 4 added a French survival thriller, The Devil's Leap, which followed a father-daughter duo on a hiking trip gone wrong.

Prince Harry faces 'tough decision' if he wants to reconcile with King Charles
Our community members are treated to special offers, promotions and adverts from us and our partners. You can check out at any time. More info Since stepping down from Royal duties in 2020, Prince Harry has been candid about sharing personal insights into his relationships with his Royal family members, leading to tensions between him, his brother Prince William, and his father King Charles. However, over recent years, 43 year old Harry has repeatedly expressed his desire for reconciliation with his family, a wish that may soon be realised. Yesterday, reports emerged of a meeting held last week between Tobyn Andreae, the King's communications secretary, and two representatives from Harry and Meghan Markle's team. These were Meredith Maines, the couple's chief communications officer and head of their Montecito, California household, and Liam Maguire, who manages the Sussexes' PR team in the UK. The meeting, which occurred last week, is thought to represent an initial step towards reconciliation. As disclosed by the Mail on Sunday, the meeting took place at the London private members' club Royal Over-Seas League, where the trio was seen seated on a terrace overlooking Green Park in London. While the specifics of the meeting remain undisclosed, it is believed that both Harry and the King authorised the discussions, reports the Express. Although this development might indicate progress towards mending the Royal rift, it is suggested that Harry would need to accept a harsh condition for reconciliation: ceasing public criticisms of the Royal Family. However, there are speculations that Harry may face a tough choice if his partnership with Netflix hinges on new revelations, particularly as Meghan Markle's show "With Love, Meghan" concludes. Discussing the couple's relationship with Netflix on The Sun's Royal Exclusive show, 5 News Royal correspondent Simon Vigar suggested that the streaming giant could pressure Harry for more Royal disclosures than he's made previously. This comes after Harry teased in his 2023 memoir, 'Spare', that there are additional untold stories and experiences from his life that have yet to surface publicly. Vigar commented: "If the Netflix deal is continuing, they're going to say, 'look, so much for behind the scenes at Polo and flower sprinkles, we actually want to know what else there is.'". At present, it remains unclear whether Harry has had any recent communication with the King following their aides' meeting last week.

Elden Ring Nightreign and Silent Hill 2 get huge discounts on Amazon
Metro journalists select and curate the products that feature on our site. If you make a purchase via links on this page we will earn commission – learn more FromSoftware's Elden Ring spin-off has been discounted barely a month after launch, as the Amazon sales somehow get better after Prime Day. Amazon Prime Day came to an end last Friday, but that hasn't stopped a bunch of new deals on games popping up on the website almost straight away. In fact, many Amazon Prime Day deals are still up now, including discounts on Split Fiction, Assassin's Creed Shadows, Tekken 8, and others. While it's unclear exactly why, you might want to jump on them sooner rather than later, in case someone's fallen asleep at the deal wheel. Some new discounts have popped up too, with one of the standouts being Elden Ring Nightreign. The co-op multiplayer spin-off has been a big hit sales wise since it came out at the end of May, and it's not full price anyway, so these discounts are surprising. On Amazon, Elden Ring Nightreign is 28% off on PlayStation 5 at £28.93, down from £39.99. Similarly, it's 20% off on Xbox Series X/S at £31.95. However, the best discounts are on the special editions. The Seekers Edition, which includes a SteelBook, digital artbook, soundtrack, and access to upcoming DLC, is 35% off at £35.95 on PlayStation 5. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. Meanwhile, the Collector's Edition, which throws in a statue of Wylder, eight Nightfarers cards, and a physical artbook, is £80 off at £99.99. More Trending There are other notable discounts too, with The Last Of Us Part 2 Remastered 44% off at £25, while Silent Hill 2 is down to £34.99. You can check out all these deals below. According to SteamDB, Elden Ring Nightreign's popularity has remained fairly steady since it launched on May 30, 2025, although it is naturally declining. After it racked up a peak player count of 313,593 players at launch, its 24-hour peak at the time of writing is 77,172. It is currently 22nd in the list of Steam's most played games though, just behind Marvel Rivals and Dead By Daylight. While the game has been a success so far, it's biggest test will be whether it can maintain these numbers in the months to come. FromSoftware has already promised a two-player mode and upcoming DLC, although a release date for those is yet to be announced. Email gamecentral@ leave a comment below, follow us on Twitter. Children from across Livingston celebrate Bastille Day in true French style
The celebration brought France to West Lothian with French music, food, games, and art activities, offering young learners a memorable introduction to both the language and culture of France. Children from across Livingston celebrated Bastille Day in true French style this week as local French teacher, Sandra Kasparek's popular bilingual summer camp launched its 2025 season with a festive, fun-filled day of cultural immersion and language learning. Set in a private venue in Livingston, Sandra's French-themed Holiday Activities Club opened its doors on 14 July - Bastille Day, France's national holiday, marking the start of an exciting summer of creativity, connection, and bilingual discovery. The celebration brought France to West Lothian with French music, food, games, and art activities, offering young learners a memorable introduction to both the language and culture of France. 'This was the perfect way to kick off camp,' said Sandra Kasparek, a seasoned French teacher and licensee of the award-winning La Jolie Ronde Programme. 'Bastille Day is a fantastic opportunity for children to connect with French traditions in a fun, meaningful way. It sets the tone for the rest of the summer where every day is a blend of language, learning, and laughter.' Sandra has been running French classes in Livingston for over 15 years, and her summer camp has grown into a beloved local tradition. This year, excitement reached new heights with children from as far afield as Keswick in Cumbria returning for the vibrant, bilingual experience. The Bastille Day celebration was just the beginning. Throughout July and into August, children will enjoy a range of hands-on activities including baking, arts and crafts, dance, outdoor games, and role-playing—all conducted in both English and French. It's an immersive approach that keeps children engaged while developing real-world language skills. Parent Jane, from Livingston, said: 'My daughter Grace has been attending Sandra's Summer Camp for a few years now, and every year, she can't wait to go back. 'Grace absolutely loves meeting new friends from all over, and the fun activities keep her engaged while boosting her language skills. 'It's more than just a camp, it's a place where she feels at home and excited to learn. Every time summer approaches, she's the first to ask, 'When can I go back to Sandra's holiday club?' Sandra's camp is open for both full-day (9am–4pm) and half-day bookings, with discounts available for multi-day attendance. The programme not only boosts language confidence but also creates a warm and welcoming environment where children feel at home. 'What we do here is more than just language lessons,' added Sandra. 'It's about building confidence, sparking curiosity, and creating lasting memories. Seeing children so eager to return year after year, especially on a day like Bastille Day, reminds me how powerful and joyful learning can be.'
