09 Jun 2025, 04:01 GMT+10
New Delhi [India], June 9 (ANI): Two people, including a 24-year-old man, were killed after a fire broke out in Delhi's Dilshad Garden, a fire official said late Sunday.
The fire broke out at the Kodi colony.
According to Fire Officer Anup Singh, they received a call regarding the fire at 11:32 pm on Sunday.
'We reached the spot and carried out the firefighting operations. After dousing the fire, it was found that two e-rickshaws and motorcycles were gutted in the fire. Two people also lost their lives in the fire incident,' Singh said.
Among the dead, one was 24 years old, and the other was 60 years old. The charging of the e-rickshaws seems to have caused the fire,' the officer added.
Further investigation is underway, he added.
Earlier on Friday, a fire broke out at an e-rickshaw charging station in the Ghonda area of northeast Delhi, prompting a swift response from the Delhi Fire Services (DFS). Four fire engines were immediately dispatched to the scene to control the blaze, DFS officials confirmed.
The incident was reported in the afternoon, with emergency teams working to douse the flames. (ANI)

Royal Setup, Luxury Furniture And Secret Chambers: How Karnataka Conman Easily Trapped Businessmen, Industrialists
Mangaluru Police was recently shocked after it started an investigation into a multi-crore scam case where big businessmen and industrialists were trapped by a conman. The findings were shocking. Police were startled and the victims were in fear. The trap was simple. The bait was luxury. On offer were huge business and personal loans. Victims were influential, and the chances of getting caught were minimal. Police have arrested a 45-year-old man identified as Rohan Saldanha, who posed as a high-level financier, trapping big industrialists on the pretext of providing them a high-value chain. What Mangaluru Police thought to be a dark hideout for criminals, turned out to be a luxurious home with secret chambers. After a victim filed a complaint, Mangaluru Police arrested Rohan Saldanha—a man now at the center of a massive financial scam. Investigators believe he may have cheated dozens more. The scale of his operation is only beginning to emerge. Saldanha posed as a wealthy financier. His trap? Offering massive loans—sometimes over Rs 100 crore—at dirt-cheap interest rates. #WATCH | Karnataka | Police conducted a raid at the residence of fraudster Rohan Saldana and detained him, late last night in Mangaluru — ANI (@ANI) July 18, 2025 His base of operations was a palatial bungalow in Jappinamogaru, Mangaluru. The opulence wasn't just for show. It was a prop to lure high-net-worth individuals and entrepreneurs into his web. He would invite them over, flash luxury, and promise easy money. To make it look legal, he even introduced a fake lawyer—using the name of a well-known legal expert from the region. Clients would speak to this "lawyer" for document checks and formalities. Then came the bait—pay stamp duty, registration fees, and other charges. Some handed over crores. One victim paid Rs 10 crore. Once he had the money, Saldanha vanished. Police raids at his mansion revealed a shocking setup. Behind expensive furnishings and royal interiors were hidden passages and secret rooms. Closets led to concealed chambers—likely built to help him escape or lie low during investigations. In just a few months, authorities estimate he swindled Rs 40–50 crore. The actual amount over the years could be far higher. So far, three FIRs have been filed—two in Mangaluru, one in Chitradurga. But officers believe many victims are still silent—either out of fear, shame, or both. The man who lived like a king is now being hunted like a fugitive. And the true extent of his scam may be even darker than imagined.

Assam: 10 arrested after violent clashes at site of eviction drive in Goalpara
The Assam Police on Friday arrested 10 persons in connection with the clashes that erupted a day earlier at the site of an eviction drive in the Betbari area of Goalpara district, ANI quoted Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma as saying. The violence on Thursday resulted in the death of a 19-year-old identified as Shakaur Ali, whose home was demolished when authorities in Goalpara cleared 140 hectares of land in the Paikan Reserve Forest on Saturday. The eviction drive displaced 1,080 families, most of whom are Muslims of Bengali origin. Since then, the displaced families had been living in tents and makeshift tarpaulin huts. Officials had asked them to dismantle the structures. On Thursday morning, the authorities dug up a road that provided connectivity to the settlement, which led to protests and sparked the clashes. Goalpara Senior Superintendent of Police Nabaneet Mahanta claimed on Friday that those arrested 'were caught on video pelting stones and obstructing officials', reported Hindustan Times. 'We are reviewing more footage and expect to make further arrests,' the newspaper quoted an unidentified police official as saying. In the aftermath of the violence, heavy security was deployed in Krishnai and surrounding areas, and curfew-like restrictions were temporarily imposed. Later in the day, Sarma blamed Congress leader Rahul Gandhi for instigating the clashes. 'As per our information, some Congress leaders visited the area on Wednesday night and they planned the attack on government officials,' Sarma said on Thursday. 'We are investigating the matter further.' He added that the police were examining speeches made by Gandhi and Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge during their recent visits to the state. The state government will not hesitate to take legal action against the Congress leaders in case of any evidence showing their involvement, said the Assam chief minister.

She had a son too: How Russian woman Nina Kutina lost her child before Karnataka's Gokarna cave rescue
Nina Kutina, a Russian woman who was found living in a cave in Karnataka's Gokarna with her two daughters, also had a son from a previous relationship. Nina Kutina said there was no danger to her or her children's lives when they lived inside the cave.(ANI) The father of the two daughters found with the Russian woman is said to be an Israeli national, Dror Goldstein, who had filed a missing persons report in November last year. Nina's son from a previous relationship died in October last year. According to the complaint filed by Goldstein, the cause of the boy's death was an accident, the Indian Express reported. Nina Kutina also talked about her son's death while talking to reporters after authorities rescued her from the cave earlier this week. She said her son's death was the reason she overstayed her visa in India. According to her, the authorities found her old passport, and her current visa expired around the time of her son's death. 'After I had my son, big son, he died, and because it happened, I stayed a little more, but not so much, as they say," ANI quoted her as saying. Dror Goldstein wants custody of his daughters Dror Goldstein, an Israeli national, has expressed his desire to share custody of the kids with the Russian woman who was found living in a cave with her daughters a few days ago. "My wish is to be close to my two daughters. I demand shared custody. I want to be able to meet them, to be close to them and to be a father. That's all," Goldstein told news agency PTI. While her discovery from inside a cave stunned many, Nina Kutina has defended the move, saying her family 'loves nature' and that she has lived in forests of over twenty countries in the past fifteen years. "My children were all born in different places. I delivered all of them myself, without hospitals or doctors, because I know how to do it. No one helped me, I did it alone,' she was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.
