Unlicensed veterinary drug manufacturing unit busted in Gajularamaram
During the inspection, the DCA officers found that the company was producing veterinary drugs without the required manufacturing licence. The unlicenced products included Albendazole Tablets 250mg (Bolus) and Albendazole Granules, both meant for veterinary use. During the raid, 537 kilograms of Albendazole tablets and 986 kilograms of Albendazole Granules were seized. The estimated value of the confiscated stock is around ₹3 lakh, said a release.
Further investigation will be conducted, and action will be taken in accordance with the law against all offenders, the release stated.

The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) conducted a special inspection drive on Wednesday (July 16, 2025) to curb the illegal sale of abortion kits across medical shops. The inspections, held simultaneously in multiple districts, targeted unauthorised sale of Schedule-H drugs such as Mifepristone and Misoprostol tablets, commonly used in medical terminations of pregnancy. The drive, aimed at ensuring compliance with the Drugs and Cosmetics Act, 1940, and associated rules, revealed serious violations in 149 medical shops. Show Cause notices were issued to these outlets, paving the way for departmental action, officials said. According to the DCA, the officers detected a range of violations during the inspections. These included selling abortion kits without a valid prescription, dispensing drugs in the absence of a licensed pharmacist, and failing to issue or maintain sales and purchase bills. Other lapses included the non-maintenance of prescription registers and irregularities in the documentation of stock records and invoices. 'Abortifacient drugs are powerful medications that should only be used under strict medical supervision. Their misuse can have life-threatening consequences. These inspections are part of our effort to ensure public safety and uphold the law,' said a release.

Pharma distributor in Karimnagar arrested in counterfeit anti-epileptic drug case, second in a week
The Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) on Friday, July 11 arrested R. Venu Gopal, Managing Partner and Competent Person of Venu Medical Agencies in Karimnagar, for selling counterfeit anti-epileptic tablets falsely labelled as a product of a leading pharmaceutical company. This is the second arrest by the DCA in a week in connection with the distribution of counterfeit Levipil 500 tablets (Levetiracetam 500 mg), a drug prescribed to treat epilepsy. Earlier this week, Manish Kumar, Partner-cum-Competent Person of Arvind Pharma Distributors in Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, was arrested for a similar offence. The latest arrest follows a raid conducted on July 5 at Venu Medical Agencies, located in Sai Nagar, Doctors Street, Karimnagar, where officials seized a consignment of counterfeit Levipil 500 tablets. The packaging falsely claimed the drug was manufactured by Sun Pharma Laboratories Limited. A batch comparison conducted by Sun Pharma confirmed that the seized tablets were counterfeit. Following this, Venu Gopal was arrested and produced before the Additional Judicial First Class Magistrate Court in Karimnagar, which remanded him to judicial custody until July 23. He is currently lodged at the District Prison in Karimnagar.

Pharma distributor arrested in Hyderabad for selling counterfeit anti-epileptic drugs
Telangana Drugs Control Administration (DCA) on Tuesday arrested Manish Kumar, partner-cum-competent person of Arvind Pharma Distributors in Gandhinagar, Hyderabad, for dealing in counterfeit anti-epileptic drugs. The arrest follows the seizure of counterfeit 'Levipil 500' tablets, falsely labelled as being manufactured by Sun Pharma Laboratories Limited. Following his arrest, Manish Kumar was produced before the X Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate (ACJM) Court in Secunderabad. The court remanded him to judicial custody until July 23. He has since been lodged at Chanchalguda Jail, said a release. The seizure was made during a raid conducted on July 4 on the premises of Arvind Pharma Distributors, located in the SBI Staff Colony, Gandhinagar. Acting on intelligence inputs, DCA officials discovered counterfeit versions of 'Levipil 500', an anti-epileptic drug used in the treatment of seizures. A comparative analysis with a genuine batch confirmed the tablets were counterfeit, as verified by Sun Pharma Laboratories.
