Angolan Government Launches Tender for Concession of Passenger and Cargo Terminals in the Ports of Cabinda and Soyo
The process initiated today arises within the scope of Presidential Order No. 210/23, of August 29, which authorizes the opening of the tender for the award of concession contracts for the management, operation and maintenance of these terminals, for a period of 20 years.
Within 40 working days after the publication of the public tender notice in Jornal de Angola, investors interested in developing and optimizing the operation of these public assets can submit their proposals, in accordance with the requirements and factors set out in the documents of the procedure defined by the Ministry of Transport.
Connected to Luanda and ports in neighboring countries, Cabinda and Soyo are central hubs in maritime and river trade in the northern region, linking cities, populations and companies from different sectors, including oil.
In addition to the development of the cabotage sector in Northern Angola, the management of the concession will allow the creation of jobs, the improvement of freight and passenger transport logistics, and a better use of existing resources, ensuring a more competitive and sustainable operation, in line with efficiency and sustainability policies in the transport sector. in Angola.
The launching ceremony of the Tender for the Concession of the Passenger and Cargo Terminals of the Ports of Cabinda and Soyo was chaired by the Secretary of State for Civil Aviation, Maritime and Port Sectors, Rui Carreira.

Qatar: Maritime Transport Affairs records 5,042 transactions during Q2 of 2025
Qatar - The Maritime Transport Affairs at the Ministry of Transport (MoT) recorded 5,042 transactions during the second quarter of 2025, according to an X post by the ministry. These covered maritime vessels' main services, including issuance and accreditation of certificates of competency for safe manning, naval architect and marine officer. Also, services were provided for maritime vessels' ownership transfer, renewal and registration. Data monitoring and renewal services were extended for foreign vessels engaged in operations in Qatar waters. The MoT is providing various services to small and large vessels in order to develop the maritime transport sector. They are also designed to facilitate operations and procedures, and to keep pace with technological advancements through the automation of all ship services. Oman: Itin Tunnel project in Salalah opened for traffic
Muscat: Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology on Saturday inaugurated the Itin Tunnel project in the Wilayat of Salalah, opening it to vehicular traffic. The project, valued at more than OMR11 million, is part of the ministry's ongoing efforts to develop infrastructure and enhance the road network throughout the Dhofar Governorate. Engineer Saeed bin Mohammed Tabook, Director General of the Directorate General of Roads and Land Transport in Dhofar, stated to Oman News Agency that the project had been fast tracked, reaching a completion rate of approximately 97 percent—an impressive 24 percent ahead of the scheduled timeline. He noted that the work was carried out by a local company, showcasing the high level of expertise and capability within Omani national firms. The project includes a network of roads spanning more than 9 kilometres. Among its components is a dual carriageway tunnel measuring 1.35 kilometres in length. Additionally, 18th November Street has been expanded to include four lanes in each direction across a stretch of 2.7 kilometres. The development also features bypass roads in four directions totalling 1.3 kilometres in length, along with the construction of seven service roads and various access and exit points that aim to improve traffic flow and ease of movement. The Itin Tunnel is considered a major addition to Salalah's infrastructure. It is expected to significantly reduce traffic congestion, particularly during the Khareef (monsoon) season—a time of heightened activity in the governorate.
