Samsung to launch its first triple foldable in a few months and this is how much it may cost

India Today7 hours ago
Samsung Galaxy Unpacked 2025, set to take place on July 9, is confirmed to unveil the upcoming foldables. Unlike the usual lineup, this year, Samsung has more surprises to showcase. The rumour has it that the lineup will include four foldables, including a triple foldable device. So far, the company has teased its Galaxy Z Fold 7, but now we have a few more details around the upcoming triple foldable. advertisementSamsung's triple foldable price leak According to a report out of South Korea, the upcoming device is tipped to arrive with a sky-high price, an expansive screen, and top-tier hardware, including a next-generation processor. It's expected to retail for approximately $3,000 (around Rs 2,56,500) locally, nearly twice the price of the Galaxy Z Fold 6. Availability, however, may be limited to just the South Korean and Chinese markets. Samsung's triple fold design leakAccording to the Android Authority, sketches and an accompanying animated video have surfaced, offering a peek into this upcoming device, the triple foldable. However, these are merely conceptual drawings extracted from animation files within the latest One UI 8 update—no official renders or real-world images just yet.
What stands out is the unique dual-hinge mechanism, folding inward on both sides. This results in a G-shaped configuration, setting it apart from Huawei's Mate XT, which employs an S-shaped fold and holds the title of the world's first tri-fold handset.Rumour has it that the device could launch under the name Galaxy G Fold. While the leaked footage doesn't show the device in motion or folding, it does reveal both the front and back when the phone is fully extended.Spec-wise, Samsung's tri-fold is tipped to feature a sizeable 10-inch display, putting it in direct competition with Huawei's 10.2-inch offering. As for performance, Qualcomm's latest Snapdragon 8 Elite chipset is expected to power the device—hardly a surprising choice for a premium foldable of this calibre.Samsung triple foldable battery leakAnother development surrounding Samsung's upcoming tri-fold smartphone comes from China's 3C certification database, where a device bearing the model number SM-F9680, widely believed to be the Galaxy G Fold, has made an appearance. The listing confirms support for 25W wired charging via Samsung's long-standing EP-TA800 charger. This modest charging speed is already drawing comparisons. Huawei's rival tri-fold, the Mate XT Ultimate, supports a far speedier 66W fast charging, and even Samsung's own mid-range Galaxy A56 boasts 45W. By contrast, the Galaxy G Fold appears to retain the same 25W ceiling found on its predecessors, including the yet-to-launch Z Fold 7.Given the tri-fold's larger display and more complex internal architecture, such conservative charging speeds may impact real-world usability—particularly for users expecting flagship-grade endurance and swift top-ups. While Samsung has long taken a cautious approach to fast charging, prioritising battery health over speed, that philosophy might feel out of step in 2025, as consumer expectations continue to evolve. - Ends

Mahindra BE 6 And XEV 9e Pack 2 Get 79 kWh Battery Pack; Check Prices

Mahindra has made the 79 kWh battery pack more affordable for the BE 6 and XEV 9e by adding it to the Pack 2 trim of the electric vehicles. This move from the brand seems to be rooted in the consumer demand pattern, which the company has observed after the launch of both SUVs. A while back, the brand had announced that over 75 per cent of total bookings were for the expensive Pack 3 variants, which in the long term would affect the sales volume. The Mahindra BE 6 Pack Two with the 79 kWh battery pack comes at Rs 23.50 lakh (ex-showroom), bringing down the price for the option from Rs 26.50 lakh (ex-showroom). Similarly, for the XEV 9e, the option of a 79 kWh battery pack now begins at Rs 24.50 lakh (ex-showroom), which is a significant reduction compared to the option on Pack 2. This iteration with the 79 kWh battery pack promises a range of up to 500 km, while the 59 kWh version offers 400 km. Additionally, Mahindra is incorporating sage leatherette interiors from Pack Three into the BE 6 Pack Two, complemented by an ivory roof finish for an elevated aesthetic. These electric SUVs are designed with both performance and convenience at their core. With 210 kW of power available in the 79 kWh variant and 170 kW in the 59 kWh version, along with several driving modes, including Boost Mode, they provide an exciting driving experience. Furthermore, the BE 6 and XEV 9e Pack Two models are equipped with superfast charging technology, enabling a 20 to 80 per cent battery recharge in just 20 minutes when using fast DC chargers.
