Forget Ring - this Blink doorbell alternative is only £28.99

Daily Mirror2 days ago
The Blink Doorbell camera is on sale now for £28.99 - down from £49.99 for a limited time
Video doorbells, now more affordable and capable than ever, are a great way to keep an eye on your home while you're away, serving as a security camera.
For those seeking a bargain without wanting to fully commit, Amazon has an offer that might be worth considering. The Blink Doorbell camera is currently priced at £28.99, down from its original price of £49.99 for a limited period. Given this price, it's certainly worth thinking about.
The camera enables Brits to answer their door from anywhere using their smartphone, with 1080p HD day and infrared night video, and two-way audio. Blink boasts of long-lasting battery life, customised alerts, and privacy settings.
For shoppers concerned about the set-up process, it can be completed within minutes using the two included AA lithium batteries and then connected to Wi-Fi via the app. The newly designed internal battery seal also offers an IP54 weather resistance rating to protect against Britain's harsh weather conditions, reports the Express.
Unlike Ring, Blink allows customers to store clips and videos on a separate device without the need for a subscription fee.
For those wanting some alternatives, there's the Ring Battery Video Doorbell for £79.99. It comes with extremely quick set-up within five minutes and high-definition video recording. There's also the Arlo video doorbell that comes in for a slightly more expensive £95.99 - and it comes with 2K cameras and person/package detection.

Product Description
Shoppers are singing praises for the Blink doorbell, with one enthusing: "Now, I'm all for keeping an eye on the doorstep, especially with the little ones running about. This Blink Video Doorbell does just the trick, and it doesn't need any wires, which is a bonus for those of us who aren't keen on DIY.
"Setting it up was fairly straightforward, though it took a few tries to get the hang of it. First, you pop in the batteries and connect the Sync Module 2 to your Wi-Fi.
"Then, you download the Blink app, create an account, and add the doorbell and module. The app guides you through the rest, which is basically scanning QR codes and following on-screen instructions.
"The picture quality is decent, even in the evenings. I can clearly see who's at the door, even if they're lurking in the shadows. The two-way talk feature is handy too - I can tell the postie where to leave a parcel, or have a quick chat with the neighbours without having to open the door."
Yet, not everyone is delighted; some have raised issues about battery life. One shopper pointed out, "Great piece of kit that works really well with the other blink products I have, as well as Alexa.
"My issue is battery life. I have had it for two months and four days, and I am about to change the batteries for the second time. I'm not sure if this is just mine, but it is slightly annoying. The listing says long battery life, but it really isn't."

Tile tracker review: why I prefer these gadgets to Airtags

IF you ask any of my friends, family or colleagues to describe me, it's very unlikely that the word "organised" will be mentioned. There's only one reason that I ever manage to leave the house on time with my keys, wallet and phone: Tile trackers. Tile Essentials Bundle, £74.99 from Amazon BUY HERE The nifty little gadgets attach to your keys, wallet or any other easily misplaced item, allowing you to easily find them with your phone. They work very simply; you attach them to the item of your choice, then hook them up to the easy-to-use Tile app, which you can then use to locate your belongings if they get misplaced. How much are Tile trackers? You can get an individual Mate tracker, which attaches to your keys or bag, for £24.99. The multipack I'd recommend, which also includes a credit-card-shaped tracker for your wallet and a sticky one for whatever else, is £74.99. Do Tile trackers need a subscription? You don't need one — and I don't have one myself — but to unlock features like longer location histories and smart alerts, you will need a Premium subscription, which starts from £2.99 per month. Can you use a Tile tracker for luggage? You can, but having dived into some Reddit threads, it seems an Airtag might be better-suited to this because of its bigger crowdsourcing network. Who's it best for? Ditsy people like myself, whose keys, wallet or phone are never where they left them. What we loved: The easy-to-use app, and the fact you can use a button on the trackers themselves to locate your phone. What we didn't: I've never loved having to pay a monthly fee to use a product I've already purchased to its full capacity, and it's not as good as rivals when you need to track your belongings to a faraway location. They come in several guises. The quintessential tile tracker is the Tile Mate, which you can hook onto your keys or bag — anything that you can hook a keyring onto. There's also the Slim, a credit-card-shaped tracker that sits snugly in one of the slots in your wallet, and the Sticker, which you can attach to your remote control, laptop, bike or whatever else you like — you could even stick it in the glovebox of your car. Finally, there's the Pro, a slightly bigger unit that claims to be the only Bluetooth tracker with an SOS button, which people can use to alert friends or family that they're in an unsafe situation. I'd recommend getting the Essentials bundle, which includes two Mates, a Slim and a Sticker. (Unfortunately, the Pro isn't included). It clocks in at £74.99, but you'll find that it — and other Tile trackers — often go on sale during key shopping periods like Amazon Prime Day and Black Friday. For example, during the most recent edition of Prime Day, we saw a 3-pack of Tile Mate trackers drop from £54.99 to just £27.49. Once you've purchased your Tile trackers, you can track your belongings in two ways. The first is to trigger a loud ringtone, which you can use to find your keys if you've accidentally lost them down a sofa cushion or left them in the pocket of your jeans. The second is by checking its location history, which is helpful if you've managed to leave your keys in a taxi or at a restaurant — I can still see a wallet I lost abroad nearly three years ago. Here's my favourite bit, though; as well as using your phone to find your keys, you can also use a nifty button on your keyring to find your phone. For me, this is the Tile's real party trick; you can't imagine how much I misplace my phone, and being able to find it using my keys or wallet has probably saved me hours of throwing sofa cushions around and dragging coats out of my closet. Plus, it's something not offered by its biggest rival, the Apple Airtag. Tile Essentials Bundle, £74.99 from Amazon You can, of course, get similar results to the Tile Mate using the Apple AirTag — they even offer a couple of advantages, mostly regarding location accuracy. Airtags also have replaceable batteries, whereas you'll have to replace your Tiles after three or so years when the batteries run out (unless you have the Pro, which has a replaceable battery). Finally, Airtags have the distinct advantage of not charging customers to unlock certain features — while you can use most Tile features for free, to unlock features like 30-day location history or smart alerts, you have to pay a monthly fee. Having said that, I've never felt the need to get a Premium subscription, and AirTags are marginally more expensive — they also currently only come in one model, meaning you need to buy extra bits to attach them to your keys or wallet. Oh, and Airtags are only compatible with Apple devices, so if you don't have one of those, you don't even have a choice to make.

'Game changing' hair styler that 'can do it all' gets huge 70% price slash on Amazon

Shoppers will need to act fast, as the price deal is around for a limited time only. Drying and styling our hair used to be quite time-consuming. However, that's changed over the years, with a variety of multitasking tools that do both at the same time. One of them that has been branded a "game changer" in reviews is the Remington Wet2Straight Pro Hair Straightener, and it's currently enjoying a huge 70 per cent discount on Amazon. The online delivery firm has just dropped the price from £99.99 to just £29.99, saving £70 overall - but shoppers will need to act fast, as the deal will only be around for a "limited" amount of time. This nifty styling tool uses an advanced 'wet 2 straight' technology that allows beauty buffs to straighten and dry at the same time, but without the heat damage and frazzled ends. It combines an exclusive venting system that quickly removes and evaporates excess water, reducing styling time, while the moisture sensor straightens hair at the optimum temperature with three times more protection, leaving it "soft" and "shiny." Offering a fast heat-up time of just 15 seconds, it also boasts a dry mode for hair that needs a refresh on non-wash days, while a storage pouch comes in handy for keeping the straightener safe and secure, especially when travelling. The beauty market is packed with similar tools these days, and for those who don't mind paying a bit extra for a professional brand, the ghd Duet Styler has been reduced from £379 to £299. To keep prices a bit more affordable, we have spotted deals website Wowcher offering a voucher that will get shoppers the Airstrait Hair Straightener, which can be used on damp hair, for £69 instead of £169.99. Meanwhile, anyone looking to bag Amazon's limited deal on the Remington Straightener might be pleased to know that it boasts a 4.5 rating from shoppers who say it can "do it all" without excess heat damage. One five-star review read: "I'm in love. I used these to dry and curl my hair at the same time the other day. I was sceptical but, damn, they worked. "Definitely read the instructions as they have a wet and a dry mode. My hair feels great and they haven't caused any extra damage as my hair is bleached." Beauty deal of the week YSL Black Opium remains an iconic perfume - and we know where to bag the newest edition for its cheapest price. The YSL BLack Opium Le Parfum offers a more vanilla-heavy fragrance that has been hailed as "intoxicating" in reviews, with a 50ml now half-price at Boots after being dropped from £115 to £57.50. Massive saving aside, it's the cheapest it can be bought for at the moment, as rival retailers Superdrug, Lookfantastic and The Perfume Shop still stock it at full-price. This interpretation of the iconic perfume was only launched in 2022, with its original floral gourmand fragrance still offering its famed notes that include pear accord, green mandarin, orange flower petals, jasmine sambac and cinnamon. However, the iconic coffee accord has been twisted with four different, yet still complimentary, notes of vanilla, which is said to be its most important ingredient, to create an "unexpected smoothness, with uncompromising intensity." Meanwhile, the unique glossy bottle that has been crafted from a precious black stone, with its dazzling glitter emblem at the heart, eludes to the luxuriousness of the fragrance contained within. As for the YSL Black Opium Le Parfum, Boots shoppers wanting to take advantage of the half-price discount will be glad to hear it has amassed a 4.7 rating from thousands of customers who say it "lasts all day" and "literally turns heads" when it is worn. One five-star review read: "I love the fragrance. I used a lot the first time, not realising how intense it was. It lasts all day and continues to smell great. I literally turn heads when I wear it." Don't miss Boots' half-price discount on the YSL Black Opium Le Parfum (50ml) that is now £57.50, down from £115. A second impressed shopper said: "Just what I was looking for, instead of having to blow dry then get straighteners ready, can do it all with this appliance." Someone else remarked: "This dryer/straightener is brilliant. So good it even gets rid of frizz, leaving straight shiny hair. I am disabled and struggle to hold dryers etc., not with this one. Very easy to use. Love it." A few shoppers have found that the straightener does not heat up as fast as advertised, as one three-star review read: "It does not heat up in 15 seconds as advertised, more like 3 minutes or longer." Although, someone else who praised the heat up time added: "I've tried a lot of different straighteners and nothing comes close to these ones, as sometimes if I couldn't be bothered to dry my hair I could still use them on my wet hair, and they heat up in seconds. I think these are better than the HDC ones by a mile."

'Sleek' smartwatch that offers 'nearly two weeks of battery life' now £22 after 77% cut

'Have been waiting for what felt like forever for this watch to go down in price and when it did, I brought two!' For people who want to be held accountable for their fitness journey, or simply want to tell the time and receive notifications without having to check their phone, then a smartwatch would be a must-have purchase. Available in a variety of styles, these nifty gadgets will still look smart at a formal event. And shoppers don't even need to break the back to buy a quality device. While there are many high tech brands selling top of the range models, for those looking for a device to simply offer the basics there are plenty of amazing offers on Amazon. One of which is on the popular Jugeman Smartwatch. Normally retailing for £99.99, shoppers can now snap up this 4.8 star rated gadget with the pink strap for only £22.79 in a limited time deal. Other colours are also available, including green, grey, deep blue and black, but these are retailing between £23.99 and the full retail price. Boasting a 1.92-inch HD touch screen, shoppers can truly make this smartwatch their own as it comes with over 220 personalised watch faces to choose from. Featuring an ultra lightweight design to provide a comfortable and relaxed fit, the smartwatch will monitor your heart rate throughout the day as well as analyse your sleep. On top of this, the budget watch can track over 113 sports and monitor how many calories you have burned. Shoppers will also be able to use a range of other features, such as music control, weather forecast, find my phone, as well as receive calls, texts and social media notifications. Boasting a large battery life, this watch is said to provide power for up to seven days with typical use, but some shoppers have said it has lasted even longer. Another popular budget smartwatch on Amazon is the GRV Smart Watch. Dropping from £36.99 down to £20.99, this device has over 21,600 ratings. Able to track over 100 sports, while also providing notifications, this watch is perfect for light outdoor activities and casual workouts. Alternatively, for those looking for an affordable branded option, Argos is selling the Samsung Galaxy Fit3 40mm Smart Watch for £59. Featuring a 1.6-inch AMOLED display and a stunning brush aluminium finish, this device will provide users with daily health insights in real time. Back to the Jugeman Watch, it currently has an impressive 4.8 star rating from Amazon shoppers, with some reviewers saying that it offers 'outstanding value' for its price. One delighted shopper said: "I'm genuinely impressed with this smartwatch! It looks sleek and modern, and the bright display is easy to read even in daylight. The features are exactly what I need fitness tracking, notifications, heart rate monitoring, and more. "The orange strap adds a fun and sporty touch, and it's surprisingly comfortable to wear all day. Setup was quick and straightforward, and the battery life is better than expected. For the price, this watch offers outstanding value. Highly recommended for anyone looking for an affordable yet high-quality fitness tracker!" While another five-star reviewer wrote: "An affordable watch that can do everything, track my steps, exercise, sleep, heart rate, blood oxygen also enables calls and messages. Battery life really good lasts over a week. Connects to gloryfit app and paired within seconds." However, some shoppers had a couple of little gripes. One person wrote: "Only gave this three stars because of the instructions to set it up writing is that small can't read it." With another giving a mixed review: "Battery is very good lasted nearly two weeks. The heart rate and blood oxygen seem very accurate, however I think the steps aren't. Very easy to set up." Despite this, a top reviewer said: "Have been waiting for what felt like forever for this watch to go down in price and when it did, I brought two! So easy to set up, comfortable to wear, easy to use but the biggest bonus for me is the battery life. Five days worn and its still at 50 percent that's impressive. "Other well known bands that I've had before, the battery life lasts a day if that. So impressed with this watch. Would highly recommend." With a sixth shopper commenting: "Genuinely a decent little watch, don't expect high end software but battery life is so far incredible." To buy the Jugeman Smartwatch, click HERE.
