During the devastating Guadalupe River flash floods, as many as 25 campers were swept away, including Renee Smajstrla, 8, and Janie Hunt, 9.
Taking to Facebook, Renee's uncle Shawn Salta posted an emotional statement, confirming that first responders have identified her quickly.
'Thank you to all our friends and family for all the prayers and outreach. Renee has been found and while not the outcome we prayed for, the social media outreach likely assisted the first responders in helping to identify her so quickly,' he wrote.
'We are thankful she was with her friends and having the time of her life, as evidenced by this picture from yesterday. She will forever be living her best life at Camp Mystic. Please continue to pray for the other families in Kerrville,' Salta added.
Meanwhile, Corpus Christi Crónica reported that 9 years old Janie was also discovered dead. Earlier on Friday, her mother told CNN that she had not received any updates on her daughter's location, adding that they are just praying.

Camp Mystic floods tragedy
On Friday, the catastrophic floods washed away between 23 and 25 girls from the Christian sleep-away camp, which caters to females aged 7 to 17. Some of the cabins, where the kids were sleeping, swept away.
According to the National Weather Service, the Guadalupe River, which sits above Camp Mystic in the Hunt suburb of San Antonio, surged more than 20 feet in just ninety minutes, causing flooding that hasn't occurred in the region since 1987.
A flood alert was issued at 4 am when most of kids were sleeping.
While officials warned of the continuous concern of potential flash flooding extending from San Antonio to Waco for the next 2 to 2 day, authorities continue search and rescue operations on Saturday morning as rainfall continued to fall throughout Hill County.

Epstein case: 'Ex-girlfriend' Ghislaine Maxwell interviewd by DOJ deputy; 'answered all the questions truthfully, honestly, says her lawyer

US deputy attorney general Todd Blanche held a meeting with convicted sex offender Ghislaine Maxwell and her lawyer in Tallahassee, as pressure mounts on the justice department to disclose more about its handling of the Jeffrey Epstein case. The meeting lasted several hours, with Blanche posing extensive questions and Maxwell responding to each of them, according to her lawyer David Oscar Markus. 'Productive day today with the Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche and Ghislaine Maxwell,' he said, as quoted by CNN. 'She never invoked a privilege. She never declined to answer. She answered all the questions truthfully, honestly and to the best of her ability,' Markus added, though he declined to reveal the content of the conversation. Blanche later confirmed he would return tomorrow to continue the interview. 'The Department of Justice will share additional information about what we learned at the appropriate time,' he posted on X. The meeting comes just weeks before Maxwell is due to testify before the US Congress under subpoena. The House Oversight Committee has ordered her to appear on 11 August, calling her testimony 'crucial' to understanding the federal government's failings in the Epstein case, including controversial plea deals and prosecution gaps. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like American Investor Warren Buffett Recommends: 5 Books For Turning Your Life Around Blinkist: Warren Buffett's Reading List Undo Maxwell, a British socialite and former girlfriend of Epstein, is serving a 20-year sentence after being convicted in 2022 for grooming and trafficking underage girls in partnership with the disgraced financier. She has since filed an appeal. Blanche had earlier acknowledged that Maxwell was never before approached by federal investigators willing to hear her out. 'That changes now,' he said, signalling a shift in the justice department's posture under President Donald Trump's directive to release all 'credible evidence' related to Epstein's crimes. Her lawyer also said that past prosecutors had avoided direct talks and welcomed the administration's new approach. 'The truth should not be feared or ignored,' Markus said. 'We're grateful someone is finally listening.' Maxwell's possible testimony before Congress could mark a turning point in the saga, depending on whether she decides to fully cooperate. 'She's taking this one step at a time,' Markus said. 'If she chooses to testify before Congress, and not plead the Fifth, she will speak the truth—as she always said she would,' he added The renewed attention to Maxwell's case comes amid mounting scrutiny over the handling of Epstein-related investigations and growing calls for transparency. A federal judge in Florida last week refused to unseal grand jury records from the early 2000s, rejecting a request by the Trump administration to make them public. Meanwhile, political tensions continue to rise following a Wall Street Journal report highlighting past links between Trump and Epstein. The US president filed a defamation lawsuit against Rupert Murdoch and the newspaper.

Bajrang Dal member held for abusing Blinkit staff for delivering chicken during Shravan

A member of the Bajrang Dal was arrested by the Ghaziabad Police on Thursday for allegedly insulting and intimidating an assistant manager of Blinkit — a quick commerce company — for delivering chicken during the month of Shravan, police said. Ghaziabad (City) Deputy Commissioner of Police Dhawal Jaiswal identified the accused as Manoj Verma. 'We have begun a probe into the incident,' he said, adding that a court has sent Verma to judicial custody. Vijay Nagar Assistant Commissioner of Police Ritesh Tripathi said Verma was arrested after the Blinkit assistant manager, Monish, filed a police complaint on Wednesday. In his complaint, Monish alleged that Verma, along with his associates, had come to the Blinkit store at Siddharth Vihar in Vijay Nagar on July 15. 'He came between 4 pm and 5 pm and started abusing our fleet manager, Abhay, saying that he was getting chicken delivered in the month of Shravan,' Monish wrote in the complaint, adding that they were threatened that if Abhay did not stop, Verma would kill him and get the store closed. Meanwhile, in a purported video that has gone viral on social media, Verma and one other person could be seen stopping a Blinkit delivery agent, Ritu Raj, who was on a bike, on Wednesday — hours before the police complaint was filed. In the video, Verma is seen asking Raj to show the parcel he was carrying. On finding raw chicken, Verma asks Raj to call the customer. When the customer picks up, Verma is heard saying on the phone — 'Today, it is Tuesday and Shravan too. We are trying to ensure that less non-veg is sold. We are from Bajrang Dal and this is our work…' When the customer on the other end tells him that she is a Christian, Verma lets Raj go. Neetika Jha is a Correspondent with The Indian Express. Border tensions intensify as Thailand rules out dialogue with Cambodia amid conflict escalation

Bangkok/Phom Penh, July 24 (UNI) Thailand has suspended diplomatic talks with Cambodia as deadly clashes continue along their shared border, escalating a tense standoff that has already claimed multiple civilian lives and strained regional stability. Caretaker Thai Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai ruled out all negotiations, stating that no dialogue could take place 'until the fighting stops,' reports CNN. He stressed that while no formal war has been declared, Cambodian forces had fired heavy weapons into Thai territory 'without clear targets,' resulting in civilian deaths. 'We are not in a state of war,' he added, 'but we are not ignoring the reality on the ground.' Tensions between the two countries have been simmering since May, when a brief clash in the disputed Emerald Triangle border region—where Thailand, Cambodia and Laos meet—left a Cambodian soldier dead. Both sides blamed each other and said their forces had acted in self defence. Despite pledges by military leaders to de-escalate, border reinforcements have increased and tit-for-tat economic measures have followed. Cambodia has blocked Thai imports including fresh produce, and halted purchases of electricity and internet services. Thailand has responded with similar restrictions. Violence spiked this week when a Thai soldier lost his leg in a landmine explosion near the border. In retaliation, Thailand launched airstrikes, with an F-16 fighter jet dropping bombs on what Bangkok said were Cambodian military targets. Phnom Penh condemned the strikes, accusing Thailand of hitting a road near the historic Preah Vihear temple—calling it 'brutal and illegal military aggression' and a violation of international law. At least 11 Thai civilians and one soldier have been killed in the crossfire. Cambodia has not released an official death toll, but damage on both sides is mounting. Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet called on Cambodian nationals in Thailand to 'maintain their dignity' and return home if they face discrimination. 'Avoid any actions that could affect the Royal Thai Embassy, Thai companies, or citizens in Cambodia,' he said in a Facebook statement. The crisis has also shaken Thai politics. Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra was suspended earlier this month following a leaked phone call with former Cambodian leader Hun Sen, in which she appeared to criticise her own military's actions. With both sides reinforcing positions and public rhetoric hardening, hopes for a quick resolution appear slim. Thailand maintains that no talks will resume until the border is calm—an increasingly uncertain prospect as the standoff deepens. UNI ANV SS
