And one of the most popular quote-tweets from a woman ultimately summed up the discourse, reading: 'We're not lying. Men cater to the male gaze more often than they realize.' But it seems as though men have learned absolutely nothing from this viral moment, with the same conversation erupting on X again just last week. This time, it stemmed from a right-wing X account sharing photos of Hugh Jackman and Alan Ritchson in character as muscular Wolverine and Jack Reacher respectively. The user wrote: 'Notice how no one, not a single soul, has ever complained about the female gaze in entertainment.' Rage-bait or not, this tweet undeniably struck a chord, and it has been seen more than 41 million times since it was posted on at the time of writing, tens of thousands of people have shared their response in the replies and quote-tweets, arguing both for and against its original message. Unsurprisingly, the overwhelming consensus was that, once again, these hench male action heroes with bulging muscles are actually catered to other men. 'both photos represent a perfect example of entertainment catering to the MALE gaze,' a viral quote tweet reads. 'did straight men learn nothing from the recent before and after gym photos of that british singer?' Somebody else shared a photo of the stripper characters in Magic Mike, led by Channing Tatum, writing: 'That's not shot for women. This is shot for women. See the difference?' 'Ted Lasso' Season 4 first look revealed as filming begins in Kansas City
Ready to "believe" again? Apple TV+ has released a first look photo from the upcoming fourth season of "Ted Lasso," which has officially started production in Kansas City. Filming is also set to take place in London, the streamer said. The photo shows Jason Sudeikis' titular soccer coach seated at a restaurant alongside his old colleagues Leslie Higgins (Jeremy Swift), Rebecca Welton (Hannah Waddingham) and Keeley Jones (Juno Temple). Brett Goldstein's Roy Kent and Brendan Hunt's Coach Beard aren't pictured in the image, but both characters are also returning for the new episodes, Apple has confirmed. Goldstein and Hunt are also producers on the new season. Several supporting characters from the first three seasons of "Lasso," including Nick Mohammed's Nate and Phil Dunster's Jamie Tartt, have not been announced as part of the Season 4 cast. The glimpse at Season 4 comes more than two years after the Emmy-winning soccer comedy aired what appeared to be its final episode in May 2023. The show's first three seasons followed college football coach Ted as he is recruited from Kansas to coach a British soccer team, AFC Richmond. By the end of Season 3, Ted said goodbye to the team and moved back home to the U.S. to be with his son, Henry (Gus Turner). Sudeikis and his fellow "Lasso" producers had said in interviews that a three-season arc was planned from the start of the series. But despite the finality of the Season 3 finale, which also tied up many stories for the supporting characters, Apple never explicitly confirmed that it was the end of "Lasso."
