China calls for more engagement with US
Wang made the comments during a meeting in Beijing with a delegation of US businesses that include executives from Goldman Sachs, Boeing and Apple, the ministry said.
"China is willing to enhance engagement with the US, avoid misjudgment, manage differences, and explore cooperation," Wang was quoted as saying.
His remarks came a day after top Chinese and US negotiators wrapped up a latest round of trade talks in Stockholm, with both sides agreeing to seek an extension of their 90-day tariff truce struck in May.
Wang said that China-US relations are affected by global developments and exert a "profound impact" on international dynamics.
"China and the US need to establish more channels of communication and consultation, view each other objectively, rationally, and pragmatically, and foster a correct strategic perception," he said, urging both countries to reject "unilateralism and bullying".
He encouraged US companies to maintain confidence in the Chinese market, and welcomed them to continue to invest in China, the ministry statement said.
A high-level delegation of US executives is visiting China this week and has also met with China's commerce and industry ministers.
The trip comes as Beijing and Washington work towards a summit between the two countries' leaders later this year, probably around the time of the APEC forum in South Korea from October 26 to November 1, sources previously told Reuters. Reuters

China, Hong Kong stocks rebound after steep weekly loss
HONG KONG: Chinese and Hong Kong stocks inched higher on Monday, recovering from last week's sharp declines, as defense and banking stocks led gains. By the midday break, the Shanghai Composite index was up 0.2% at 3,567.02 points, recovering from losses in the opening hour. The blue-chip CSI300 index was barely changed. The defence sector led the onshore market higher with a 2.2% gain. The banking sector added 1% and semiconductors gained 0.4%. The small gains on Monday came after markets booked their steepest losses since April last week. The bullish trend for Chinese equities has started to show signs of slowing as the much anticipated Politburo meeting and tariff negotiations with the U.S. both failed to deliver positive surprises. 'Market sentiment is becoming more volatile as positive catalysts are losing momentum,' Citic Securities said in a note, adding that investors might shift focus to defensive sectors and those more insulated from external shocks. In Hong Kong, the benchmark Hang Seng Index was up 0.5% at 24,627.25, also recovering from last week's loss. The tech sector jumped 0.9% and AI-related shares added 1%, leading markets higher. Looking ahead, markets are awaiting new developments on the trade truce between China and the U.S. that expires on August 12. Ukrainian drone attack sparks fire at railway station in Volgograd region, Russia says
A Ukrainian drone attack damaged a power line and sparked a fire at a railway station building in Russia's southern region of Volgograd overnight, the regional administration said on Monday. An unexploded drone fell on railway tracks near the Archeda train station, the administration of the region said on the Telegram messaging app, citing Volgograd region's governor, Andrei Bocharov as saying. 'No damage to the tracks has been reported,' the administration said. Russian state news agency TASS reported several regional trains were delayed in the area. Flights at the regional airport in the city of Volgograd, which is the administrative centre of the broader Volgograd region, were halted for several hours before resuming at around 0300 GMT, Russia's civil aviation authority Rosaviatsia said on Telegram. Russia's defence ministry said that its units destroyed a total of 61 Ukrainian drones overnight, including six over the Volgograd region. The ministry reports only the number of drones destroyed, not how many Ukraine launched. The region's administration cited Bocharov as saying the attack was 'massive' and targeted energy and transport infrastructure. Reuters could not independently verify the reports. There was no immediate comment from Ukraine, which has staged frequent attacks on infrastructure inside Russia that Kyiv deems key to Moscow's war efforts - including on the Volgograd region which lies not far from the border with Ukraine.
