Vida Z based VX-2 electric scooter teased for the first time

Hero MotoCorp, Vida have released the first teaser for their upcoming electric scooter on their social media channels. Images of the new electric scooter were leaked online earlier. The launch of the new electric scooter is slated to happen on July 1.
The VX2 is expected to be positioned below the V2 in the portfolio. The scooter that was spotted earlier had a smaller TFT display and the switchgear is shared with the V2. However, there is a physical keyhole that hints towards, the VX2 being a more budget-oriented electric scooter.
The V2 is offered in three battery pack options, and the VX2, which was also spotted, also boasted a 'Plus' suffix, hinting towards multiple variants being on offer. The leaked image also revealed that the alloy wheels of the new electric scooter will be shared with the V2. The Vida V2 consists of three variants right now. There is V2 Lite, V2 Plus, and V2 Pro. Hero MotoCorp is reportedly developing a new electric vehicle platform called ACPD, designed to bring down production costs. While the specifics of the upcoming models are still under wraps, this initiative aims to make electric scooters more competitively priced—potentially aligning them with traditional internal combustion engine (ICE) models.
Currently, Hero manufactures approximately 7,000 electric scooters monthly. With the introduction of the new models based on the ACPD platform, this figure is expected to more than double, reaching up to 15,000 units per month.

To support its growing EV ambitions, Hero continues to aggressively expand its Vida brand's retail footprint. The company now boasts 203 Vida outlets, which include 180 full-fledged dealerships spread across 116 cities. This expansion is aimed at enhancing customer accessibility and offering reliable after-sales service across more urban and semi-urban locations.

Hero's push into the EV space is already bearing fruit. In FY2025, the company sold 48,673 electric two-wheelers—a significant 175% increase compared to the 17,720 units sold in FY2024. This growth reflects rising consumer interest in the Vida range, which competes against major players like Ola Electric, Ather Energy, Bajaj, TVS, and Ampere.
The current Vida V2 lineup is priced between ₹ 74,000 and ₹ 1.15 lakh (ex-showroom). A recent price revision has positioned the entry-level model more competitively, undercutting several key rivals in the segment.

Under the Vida sub-brand, the company now sells the Vida V2 electric scooter, which is available in three trim options - V2 Pro, V2 Plus and V2 Lite. Now, the EV manufacturer is gearing up for the launch of its latest product, VX2, which will come as a more affordable iteration compared to the V2. Slated to launch on July 1, the Vida VX2 electric scooter will target budget-conscious consumers, offering an all-electric option for daily commuting. Interestingly, other major players in the Indian electric two-wheeler segment, including TVS Motor Company, Bajaj Auto, Ola Electric, and Ather Energy, have already launched their respective products that focus on the budget-sensitive buyers. Now, with the Vida VX2, Hero MotoCorp also plans to walk the same path. Upon launch, it will compete with TVS iQube, Ola S1 Air, Bajaj Chetak, etc. Before the Vida VX2 is launched in the Indian market, here are some key details about the upcoming electric scooter. Vida VX2: Design The Vida VX2 has been teased through a teaser video online. As it seems, the electric scooter draws design inspiration from the Vida Z electric scooter concept that was displayed at the EICMA 2024. The electric scooter will come with a design that will resemble the V2. However, there will be some distinctive styling elements as well. It will come with LED lighting at the front and rear, including LED daytime running lights (DRL) integrated into the LED headlamp, LED indicators and LED taillight. Also, there will be a flat seat, basic toggle buttons at the handlebars, and a digital instrument cluster. Vida VX2: Equipment Being an affordable electric scooter, Vida VX2 will come implementing some cost-cutting measures, which will see the EV getting drum brakes at both ends instead of disc brakes. However, the higher trims of the VX2 may get a disc brake at the front. There will be a smaller digital display with physical buttons in comparison to a touchscreen. Also, there will be a conventional key ignition system instead of a keyless or mobile app-based ignition system. Vida VX2: Powertrain The Vida VX2 is expected to be underpinned by the same modular architecture that houses the Vida V2. Powering the Vida VX2 would be multiple battery pack choices, ranging from 2.2 kWh to 3.4 kWh units. Expect the VX2 to offer a range of more than 100 kilometres on a full charge. However, the range will depend on the battery pack variant. The EV will come with removable battery packs for easy indoor charging or battery swapping. Vida VX2: Pricing and BaaS model Vida VX2 is expected to come available at a starting price of around ₹ 1 lakh (ex-showroom). However, the company has already revealed that the VX2 will come with a Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) model, which will offer a subscription plan to the buyers, allowing them to subscribe to batteries separately. This will allow them to pay the company subscription cost depending on usage per kilometre. Vida, the electric vehicle manufacturing arm of Hero MotoCorp, is preparing to launch its new affordable VX2 electric scooter in India on July 1. Before the event, the brand had been teasing the vehicle, revealing its details bit by bit. Until now, we know that the electric scooter will miss out on the front disc brake and will come with drum brakes. Furthermore, there will be design similarities with the V2 range. Now, we have more details of the EV. Starting with appearance, the Vida VX2 electric scooter will have a smooth body design. With a rather minimalistic appearance, this will be complemented by paint scheme options like White, Red, Blue, Yellow, Orange, Black, and Grey. These monotone options are different from the dual-tone options offered with the V2 electric scooters. Apart from that, the electric scooter is likely to get two variants, which will be called Go and Plus. These will have different battery capacities and ranges. The smaller battery pack version is likely to have a 2.2 kWh unit, while the larger one will be a 3.4 kWh battery pack. They might also have a removable battery pack consisting of two swappable batteries. These are speculated to offer a range of around 100 km on a single charge. The unit of Vida VX2 was spotted with a TFT display that appeared smaller than those found in the V2 series, potentially suggesting a downgrade. Additionally, this model featured a keyhole, highlighting its focus on being cost-effective. Once launched, the Vida VX2 is expected to be priced around Rs 1 lakh. It will make the electric scooter a perfect rival for models like Bajaj Chetak, Ola S1 Air, and TVS iQube in the Indian market.
