Man Utd sent latest transfer message by Real Betis over 'complex' Antony deal

Man Utd sent latest transfer message by Real Betis over 'complex' Antony deal

Metroa day ago

Real Betis sporting director Manu Fajardo insisted the club are still pursuing a deal for Manchester United winger Antony but said finances could prove an issue.
Antony enjoyed a resurgent spell at Betis during the second half of last season, helping fire the club to the Europa Conference League final and scoring nine goals in 25 appearances.
And the Brazil international is now desperate to return to Spain, repeatedly making it clear he sees his future at Betis.
The 25-year-old has no future under Ruben Amorim back at United, but the Red Devils do not want to loan him out again and are seeking a permenant transfer this summer.
Betis have not spent over £20m on a player in six years, but are set to raise funds through the departure of midfielder Johnny Cardoso, who is close to joining Atletico Madrid.

Regardless, Fajardo conceded that reaching a deal with United for Antony could still prove difficult, but said they would do everything in their power to bring the winger back to the club this summer.
'We all have to be aware that this is a very complex operation,' Fajardo said. 'Given the player's level and his recent career at Real Betis, it's not an easy transaction.
'But, as long as Antony hasn't committed to a third party, we, with the utmost humility, will play our cards to be able to opt for Antony.
'I insist, despite this being a complex operation, we will try to carry it out in different ways without compromising the club. In the end, the most important thing is also the sustainability of the club.
'We will try to be creative, as we have been in the past, so that Antony can be here. Today, the market is open, as I said before, it's very dynamic, and we are part of that game.'
Antony is prepared to take a 30 per cent wage cut to help seal a move away from Old Trafford. The former Ajax star is currently on £150,000-a-week.
But United would still demand a fee in the region of £32.58million to avoid a loss on the player under the profit and sustainability rules (PSR). More Trending
Asked about Antony's publically stated desire to return, Farajado added: 'It doesn't surprise me (Antony wants to return to Betis).
'And I'd like to take this opportunity once again to highlight the work that Real Betis does as a whole, across all departments.
'When a player arrives here and has such an immediate impact, that's no coincidence. It's the result of the work, sacrifice, and seriousness of everyone involved on a day-to-day basis.
'Not only so that Antony can perform and give his best, but so that all the players who join Betis can reach their prime.'

Ruben Amorim makes board request as Man Utd sent clear message on target

Manchester United are braced for a busy summr in the transfer market but we're still in the calm before the storm for Ruben Amorim's side after their deal for Matheus Cunha Manchester United's summer rebuild has slowed down a little since the arrival of Matheus Cunha, but things could soon be about to pick back up. Ruben Amorim can't offer potential signings a chance of European football, but he can offer them the chance to be part of a project. That appears to have been enough to convince Bryan Mbeumo. The Cameroon forward is due to arrive from Brentford in another big-money deal, with an announcement expected sooner rather than later. ‌ United's pre-season campaign is less than a month away. They are due to face newly-promoted Leeds in Sweden in July, with three matches in the US during the Premier League Summer Series and, finally, a return to Old Trafford to face Fiorentina. ‌ There are likely to be plenty of ins and outs before then. Alejandro Garnacho, Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony are among those expected to leave for the right price, while the likes of Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen will leave upon the expiry of their contracts at the end of June. As we prepare to move from June into July, fans will be eager for updates. Here are Mirror Football 's latest lines from around Old Trafford. United receive Martinez message Manchester United have received encouragement that Emi Martinez would welcome an Old Trafford move. The Aston Villa and Argentina star has also been linked with Chelsea, and to clubs in the Saudi Pro League. The links to United come amid questions over the future of Andre Onana and Altay Bayindir. Third-choice keeper Tom Heaton is staying at Old Trafford, though, having signed a new contract during the week. Martinez was visibly emotional after the final home game of the season, prompting reporters to ask Villa boss Unai Emery about the player's future. "We will see about the team, the players, but of course, they are responding on the field, at the moment they are responding and they are so, so focused in how we are preparing and playing each match," the manager said. ‌ Chelsea close in on Garnacho alternative Chelsea have already turned down the chance to sign Jadon Sancho from Manchester United and they now look increasingly unlikely to move on to Alejandro Garnacho. The winger was linked with a January move to Stamford Bridge, but a summer return appears unlikely. That's because the Blues have turned their attentions to Jamie Gittens. According to Sky Sports, the London side are moving closer to a deal for Gittens, who spent time in Manchester City's academy before moving to Germany as a teenager. ‌ Gittens, an England Under-21 international, is part of Dortmund's Club World Cup squad. Representatives for Chelsea and Dortmund have reportedly been engaged in productive conversations over the 20-year-old. Amorim makes board request Ruben Amorim has made a special request to Manchester United's board to bring in ally Acacio Valentim, according to Record. Valentim, 49, previously worked with Amorim at Braga. ‌ Valentim left Braga earlier this year, and Amorim is said to be keen on a reunion. United's head coach brought in his own coaching staff after joining from Sporting CP in 2024 and could now make a further new addition. Carlos Fernandes, Jorge Vital, Adelio Candido, Emanuel Ferro and Paulo Barreira were all added to United's ranks shortly after the new boss came in. Ruud van Nistelrooy was among the previous staff members to leave around the same time, with the Dutchman spending a short time as Leicester City manager. Ligue 1 Monaco have asked the question but even with their wealth it would still be a stretch to pay the Cameroonian's wages. Casemiro makes final decision on Man Utd exit as Carlo Ancelotti role emerges

Casemiro has been attracting interest from Saudi Arabia for the past 18 months as United have been looking to trim their huge wage bill - but he's set to stay at Old Trafford Big-earning Brazilian midfielder Casemiro is set to stay at Manchester United next season after being offered a World Cup lifeline by Carlo Ancelotti. Casemiro, who collects a cool £350,000-a-week, was handed a shock recall by his country when his former Real Madrid boss named his first Brazil squad earlier this month. ‌ And with the 33-year-old now targeting the finals in Canada, Mexico and the United States next summer, he believes his chances of playing in a third World Cup will be enhanced by staying in the Premier League. Casemiro has been attracting interest from Saudi Arabia for the past 18 months as United have been looking to trim their huge wage bill. ‌ But he worked his way back into manager Ruben Amorim's plans towards the end of the season and was rewarded when new Brazil coach Ancelotti ended his two-year international absence by bringing him into his squad for the World Cup qualifiers against Ecuador and Paraguay. Casemiro played the full 90 minutes in both games as Brazil collected four points to move up to third place in the South American qualifying table. Ancelotti managed Casemiro at the Bernabeu and didn't agree with the decision to sell him to United in a £70million deal three years ago. The Italian believes the five-time Champions League winner can be a big dressing room influence for him during his first crack at international management. Casemiro has one year left on his United contract, although the Reds have an option to trigger a 12-month extension. He impressed Amorim with his attitude during the final few months of a traumatic season, but United will not stand in his way if the Brazilian decided to cash in by moving to Saudi. Casemiro has continually insisted that he is happy in Manchester despite interest from Al-Nassr, the big-spending club that has just handed Cristiano Ronaldo a two-year contract worth almost £500 million. ‌ The Brazilian is a close friend of the 40-year-old Portuguese after they played together at Madrid. And he posted a picture of him wearing a pair of £7,000 LED recovery boots manufactured by a company partly owned by Ronaldo on his Instagram account during the week. United are looking for buyers for a raft of players who are surplus to requirements under Amorim as they try to raise money to finance a rebuild. ‌ Wing trio Marcus Rashford, Jadon Sancho and Antony are all in the shop window, but the Reds' hopes that Inter Milan would follow up an enquiry for misfiring £72 million striker Rasmus Hojlund with a bid for the Danish international. Inter targeted two new strikers after finishing second in serie A and then being hammered by Paris St Germain in the Champions League final. But they have spent £20 million on Parma's Ange-Yoan Bonny and are ready to give teenager Francesco Pio Esposito more game-time after he capped a fine performance against River Plate in the Club World Cup with his first goal for the club. That would close the door on a permanent move for Hojlund, although Inter could still offer a 12-month loan option with an obligation to buy.
