Warner Bros. Sets Release Dates for "Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum", New "Evil Dead" Movie

Gollum will return to the big screen in Christmas 2027.
Warner Bros. has announced that Andy Serkis' 'The Lord of the Rings: The Hunt for Gollum' will open in theaters December 17, 2027.
The studio has also dated the next 'Evil Dead' movie, starring Souheila Yacoub, for July 24, 2026, and M. Night Shyamalan's 'Remain' for October 23, 2026.
Jake Gyllenhaal, Phoebe Dynevor, and Ashley Walters star in Shyamalan's latest project.
The release date for 'The Hunt for Gollum' is hardly a surprise given all six movies in Peter Jackson's 'Lord of the Rings' and 'The Hobbit' film trilogies opened in December ahead of the Christmas holiday. Each trilogy powered to $2.9 billion at the worldwide box office.
Warner Bros. first announced 'The Hunt for Gollum' last summer and said it would be ready for theaters in 2026. The film has been delayed a year.
Serkis is directing the tentpole and once again starring in the title role, which he's been playing via motion capture since 2002's 'The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.' Serkis' directorial efforts include 'Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle' and 'Venom: Let There Be Carnage.'
Original 'The Lord of the Rings' trilogy filmmaker Peter Jackson and his partners Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens are producing the new movie.
Warner Bros. stressed when announcing 'Gollum' that the trio 'will be involved every step of the way.'
Boyens told
Empire
magazine that 'The Hunt for Gollum' is 'quite an intense story' that 'falls after the birthday party of Bilbo and before the Mines of Moria.
It's a specific chunk of incredible untold story, told through the perspective of this incredible creature.'
Original 'Rings' cast members like Ian McKellen (Gandalf), Orlando Bloom (Legolas) and Viggo Mortensen (Aragorn) have all expressed interest in returning for the new film should the story make sense for their characters to appear, although no additional casting has been confirmed.
'The Lord of the Rings' franchise was last in theaters in December 2024 with the release of the anime movie 'The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim.'
'Gollum' will be the first live-action 'Rings' movie since 2014's 'The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.'

Martin Solveig Retires from DJing

Yara Sameh Martin Solveig, the acclaimed French producer, singer, and songwriter, has announced his retirement from the world of DJing. According to France 24 , Solveig shared the news with fans at France's Les Vieilles Charrues music festival on Saturday (July 19) – his one and only performance of 2025, and first live gig since November. 'It's a special moment,' Solveig told a crowd of 70,000. 'All my life, each time I came onstage I told myself: 'Play like it's your last concert.' Just until that moment arrives. 'Some of you have been following me for decades,' he added. 'Thank you for coming, I know some have come from far away. Some of you will take my place. Thank you for being here, from the bottom of my heart.' Solveig later confirmed the news in a social post shared on Tuesday, explaining that he would not, however, be retiring from making music. 'To new beginnings,' he wrote. 'I'm leaving the stage with a full heart, stepping aside for the next generation. You'll find me in the crowd, cheering them on at concerts and festivals. 'Music is my life — and always will be,' Solveig added. 'I'll keep creating, for the joy, for the kids, and for/with artists I look up to. Per France 24, Les Vieilles Charrues Director Jerome Trehorel explained that the festival was itself unaware they would be hosting Solveig's final live performance until only recently. 'It was a surprise when he told us several weeks ago that the Vieilles Charrues would be his only concert date this year, and that it would be his last,' Trehorel said. 'It's an immense honour.' Solveig began DJing at the age of 18 in the early '90s before rising to fame throughout the early '00s as a prolific producer and songwriter. Alongside collaborations with names such as David Guetta, Madonna, and Laidback Luke, he released a total of five studio albums, including his most recent, 2023's Back to Life. The 2011 single 'Hello' (which featured Canadian musician Martina Sorbara's Dragonette project) became Solveig's most successful track, peaking at No. 5 in his native France and giving him his sole appearance on the Hot 100 at No. 46. Solveig also made a small number of appearances on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart across his career, with collaborative singles 'All Day and Night' and 'Thing For You' reaching No. 14 and No. 19, respectively, in 2019. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks

"Glee" Star Chris Colfer's Book Series "Land of Stories" Movie in Works

Yara Sameh Warner Bros. is set to start a new chapter with the adaptation of a best-selling book series from the "Glee" alum Chris Colfer. The studio has acquired Colfer's book series "The Land of Stories" and has attached filmmaker Phil Johnston to write the live-action adaptation. Emma Watts brought the property to Warner Bros. Colfer and Watts serve as producers, while Rob Weisbach will executive produce. "The Land of Stories" centers on twins Alex and Conner Bailey, who are grieving the loss of their father when they are transported into a magic book where classic fairy tales are brought to life. The series kicked off with "The Wishing Spell", published in 2012. With seven books in the original series, Colfer has also published several prequel titles. In 2017, The Hollywood Reporter reported that Colfer was set to write and direct a feature version of the book series for 20th Century Fox and Shawn Levy's 21 Laps. The author of 20 books, Colfer is known for playing Kurt Hummel on the Fox series "Glee". He starred in the 2012 coming-of-age film 'Struck by Lightning", which he also wrote and produced. Johnston is the director of such movies as the forthcoming Netflix feature adaptation "The Twits" and the Disney animated sequel "Ralph Breaks the Internet". His writing credits include "Cedar Rapids", "Wreck-It Ralph," and "Zootopia." read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks

New "Wonder Woman" Movie Finds It "Supergirl" Writer Ana Nogueira

Yara Sameh 'Supergirl' screenwriter Ana Nogueira has been tapped to write DC Studios' new redo of "Wonder Woman". Nogueira is also writing a live-action 'Teen Titans' for the studio. "Wonder Woman" has become a major priority for the studio. On July 16, DC was reported to be fast-tracking the feature project, and DC Studios co-chief James Gunn told Entertainment Weekly in June that a 'Wonder Woman' movie 'is being written right now.' The studio is also developing 'Paradise Island,' a TV series for HBO set on Wonder Woman's home of Themyscira, though Gunn has said progress on that project is 'slow moving.' Nogueira started her career as an actor, including on 'The Michael J. Fox Show,' 'The Vampire Diaries' and most recently the crime series 'Hightown.' 'Supergirl,' directed by Craig Gillespie ('Cruella') and starring Milly Alcock ('House of the Dragon'), will be her first produced screenplay. It is adapted from the graphic novel 'Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow' by Tom King. The film is scheduled to open on June 26, 2026. The Princess of Themyscira was first played on the big screen by Gal Gadot in 2017's 'Wonder Woman' directed by Patty Jenkins. The film grossed $822 million worldwide, shattering the industry's false presumption that audiences weren't interested in female-led superhero movies. Gadot and Jenkins teamed up again for 'Wonder Woman 1984,' which opened on Christmas in 2020 at the height of the coronavirus pandemic. She also played the character in 2017's 'Justice League,' 2021's 'Zack Snyder's Justice League' and 2023's 'The Flash.' When Gunn and Peter Safran took the reins of DC Studios, however, they effectively rebooted the DC Universe, starting with the streaming series 'Creature Commandos' and Gunn's feature film 'Superman,' which has grossed $406.8 million globally since it opened on July 11. Alcock appeared in a brief cameo at the end of the film, when she picked up her dog Krypto, who'd been staying with the Man of Steel while she was away. read more New Tourism Route To Launch in Old Cairo Ahmed El Sakka-Led Play 'Sayidati Al Jamila' to Be Staged in KSA on Dec. 6 Mandy Moore Joins Season 2 of "Dr. Death" Anthology Series Don't Miss These Movies at 44th Cairo Int'l Film Festival Today Amr Diab to Headline KSA's MDLBEAST Soundstorm 2022 Festival Arts & Culture Mai Omar Stuns in Latest Instagram Photos Arts & Culture "The Flash" to End with Season 9 Arts & Culture Ministry of Culture Organizes four day Children's Film Festival Arts & Culture Canadian PM wishes Muslims Eid-al-Adha News Israeli-Linked Hadassah Clinic in Moscow Treats Wounded Iranian IRGC Fighters Arts & Culture "Jurassic World Rebirth" Gets Streaming Date News China Launches Largest Ever Aircraft Carrier Videos & Features Tragedy Overshadows MC Alger Championship Celebration: One Fan Dead, 11 Injured After Stadium Fall Lifestyle Get to Know 2025 Eid Al Adha Prayer Times in Egypt Arts & Culture South Korean Actress Kang Seo-ha Dies at 31 after Cancer Battle Business Egyptian Pound Undervalued by 30%, Says Goldman Sachs Sports Get to Know 2025 WWE Evolution Results News "Tensions Escalate: Iran Probes Allegations of Indian Tech Collaboration with Israeli Intelligence" News Flights suspended at Port Sudan Airport after Drone Attacks
