
Police investigate suspicious death in northwestern Ont. First Nation
The Ontario Provincial Police is investigating a suspicious death in Lac Seul First Nation.
Police responded just after midnight Thursday to the area of Mahkwa Road, 'where one person was located deceased,' police said in a news release.
'The death has been deemed suspicious.'
'Residents of the Lac Seul First Nation community of Frenchman's Head will continue to see an increased police presence as the investigation continues,' police added.
'Further information will be released as it becomes available.'
Working the case are the OPP's crime unit, the Lac Seul Police Service, under the direction of the OPP criminal investigation Branch, in conjunction with the Office of the Chief Coroner and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service.
A post-mortem examination will be conducted in Toronto.

4 men charged with 1st-degree murder in death of 19-year-old in Abbotsford, B.C.
Homicide investigators say four men have been charged with first-degree murder in the death of a 19-year-old man in Abbotsford, B.C., in January. The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team (IHIT) said 21-year-old Ravdeep Gill of Winnipeg, 26-year-old Harmandeep Gill of Brampton, Ont. have been charged with first-degree murder and forcible confinement, as have Surrey residents Jaskaran Singh, 20, and Bipanpreet Singh, 22. A fifth man, 19-year-old Inderpreet Khosa of Abbotsford, has been charged with forcible confinement. IHIT said just before 2 a.m. PT on Jan. 27, witnesses reported seeing a man being assaulted and taken away in a vehicle from the 2900 block of Abbotsford's Victoria Street. Three hours later, police say the 19-year-old victim was found in Surrey's Crescent Beach area with severe injuries. He later succumbed to his injuries in hospital.
