The Climate Tribe Opens Its First Sustainability Hub in Abu Dhabi
The Climate Tribe Opens Its First Sustainability Hub in Abu Dhabi Founded in 2023 by Her Highness Sheikha Shamma bint Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, The Climate Tribe is a UAE-based social enterprise committed to collective climate action through creativity, storytelling, and community mobilisation. Over the past two years, it has built a movement that blends sustainability with culture—and now, that vision has taken physical form. The Climate Tribe unveiled its first permanent space: The Climate Tribe Hub in Abu Dhabi. Purpose-built as a collaborative venue for climate-focused creativity, the Hub officially opened with 'The Climate Tribe Live!'—a launch event that brought together partners, creatives, and environmental changemakers. 'The Climate Tribe began with a vision to inspire climate action through storytelling, creativity, and shared purpose,' said Her Highness Sheikha Shamma. 'With 2025 being the Year of Community in the UAE, we are proud to align with our national vision as we now mark this new chapter in our journey.' The Hub itself is as much a statement as it is a space. Designed in collaboration with local artisans and sustainable design studios like Alchemy, Tashkeel, and Alghadeer Emirati Crafts, the venue integrates low-impact materials, recycled elements, and nods to Emirati heritage in every detail. The result is a space that is both functional and reflective—hosting workshops, screenings, panel talks, and strategy labs for climate-driven projects. At the launch event, guests watched a mini-documentary detailing the Hub's transformation from concept to construction, followed by a panel featuring members of The Climate Tribe's leadership team and project collaborators. 'The Hub is a true reflection of our values,' said Executive Director Hind Al Ghseen. 'It stands as a symbol of what can be achieved when creativity, culture, and purpose come together.' Since its founding, The Climate Tribe has united more than 2,200 community members, facilitated over 70 climate initiatives, and contributed to the planting of 921 trees and recycling of over 8,600 kilograms of waste. With the launch of its first physical space, the group is expanding from a digital platform into a real-world ecosystem of ideas, tools, and partnerships—ready to turn climate storytelling into action.

Jun 29, 2025 Dubai's Al Freej Fridge initiative is expanding its summer campaign to distribute 2 million free ice creams and juices to blue-collar workers across the city. The community-led project, which began in 2022, will now cover over 500 locations, doubling its previous scale. The initiative is supported by more than 8,000 volunteers and aims to provide daily relief during peak summer temperatures. Each fridge is restocked twice a day and supplies essential refreshments, including milk, water, juice, and various ice cream products.
