Barcelona reject Chelsea swap offer for Christopher Nkunku
Barcelona rejected Chelsea's offer of a swap deal involving Christopher Nkunku, according to reports in Spain. Chelsea have been open to offers for Nkunku this summer as the French forward has struggled to secure a regular role at Chelsea since his £52 million move from RB Leipzig in 2023. The 27-year-old has attracted plenty of interest with Arsenal and Bayern Munich both making enquiries in the January transfer window, while Manchester United have also considered a move this summer after failing with a loan bid earlier this year. Chelsea have also dropped their asking price for Nkunku from £65 million to £43m. According to Mundo Deportivo, Chelsea have also used Nkunku as a makeweight in their bid to sign Barcelona midfielder Fermin Lopez. Wake up to find news on your club in your inbox every morning with Metro's Football Newsletter. Sign up to our newsletter and then select your team in the link we'll send you so we can get football news tailored to you. However, Barcelona turned down the chance to sign Nkunku and opted to sign Marcus Rashford on loan from Manchester United instead. Fermin has also been linked with a move to United, with reports in Spain claiming that Ruben Amorim's side are ready to pay a €70m (£61m) fee. However, Fermin is intent on staying at Barcelona, while the club's head coach, Hansi Flick, does not want the 22-year-old to leave. More Trending Nkunku, meanwhile, faces an uncertain future and Enzo Maresca did not rule out the prospect of still having the 27-year-old in his squad for the start of the new Premier League season. 'If Christo is here with us, it is because we think he can help us and he can be with us even next season,' Maresca said during the Club World Cup. 'But as you said, there are many speculations, not just about Christo, about many players. 'And then if something is going to happen, I don't know because we said many times when the transfer window is open, anything can happen in terms of players that can arrive or players that can leave.' Jose Mourinho's Fenerbahce 'pushing for surprise swoop' to sign one of Man United's five 'Bomb Squad' outcasts
Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is reportedly looking to add a member of Ruben Amorim 's 'Bomb Squad' to his ranks at Fenerbahce. Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Antony and Tyrell Malacia have been left to train at Carrington with United on tour in the US, while Marcus Rashford has secured a loan move to Barcelona. Mail Sport understands that while United are keen to offload the other four players to fund new signings, Amorim wants to ensure that offers are suitable. If not, the Portuguese manager is willing to reintegrate these players back into his squad for the 2025-26 season. The latest interest in one of Old Trafford's outcasts reportedly comes from Turkey, with Fenerbahce eyeing a move for Garnacho, according to local outlet Milliyet. It is said that the Super Lig side will 'push all the limits' to sign the 21-year-old winger who is valued between £50million and £70m by United, as per multiple reports. It is unlikely clubs would be prepared to pay the upper end of that bracket now, considering Garnacho's fractious fallout with the club. Around Europe, the likes of Atletico Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen and Napoli have shown interest in the forward. However, it is understood that Garnacho would prefer to stay in the Premier League, with moves to Chelsea, Aston Villa and Tottenham on the cards. Garnacho sparked controversy this summer by posting a picture of himself wearing Rashford's No.9 Villa shirt after the England star spent the second half of last season on loan at the Midlands club. But his future at United really became precarious after their Europa League final defeat by Tottenham in May. Amorim told Garnacho to find a new club as a result of his reaction to being benched. The Argentine international said after full-time: 'Until we reached the final, I played every round. And I played 20 minutes today – I don't know. I'm going to try to enjoy the summer and see what happens next.' Garnacho also stole headlines on United's post-season tour in June for all the wrong reasons. One incident saw him push a fan who was asking him a question, while Garnacho also aimed a dig at the club - taking to Instagram to express his relief at the tour's conclusion. Antony (left) impressed at Real Betis on loan last season and wants to rejoin the Spanish club As for the rest of United's 'Bomb Squad', it is understood that the club would be willing to listen to loan offers for all but Garnacho, who would generate maximum profit under Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR). Malacia has drifted into the abyss since returning from his six-month loan spell at PSV Eindhoven, with only murmurs of a move to Celtic swirling. Sancho, meanwhile, has been strongly linked with both Juventus and his former club Borussia Dortmund, with United valuing the winger at around £15m - a far cry from the £73m they paid for him in 2021. Lastly, Antony enjoyed a rejuvenated loan spell at Real Betis during the second half of last season, but the club did not activate his £35m buy option. Nevertheless, Betis have remained hopeful that they can secure the winger on another loan deal. It has been reported that Italian side Como have attempted to sign the Brazilian, but Antony's heart is set on returning to Andalusia, where he rediscovered his love for football.
