
Five pink toilets for women opened in 4 cities
Patna: Five pink toilets were inaugurated in four Bihar cities on Thursday as a pilot venture, seeking to ensure women and girls have access to secure, hygienic, and private sanitation spaces, protecting them from public harassment.
Two toilets were opened in Patna, while one each in Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur and Rajgir with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund from
Indian Railway Finance Corporation
Limited.
Bihar deputy chief minister Samrat Chaudhary led the inauguration ceremony, along with urban development and housing minister Jibesh Kumar.
"The distinctive pink colour serves to identify women-specific toilets, which will be operated and maintained by female staff. These facilities are equipped with essential services, including power supply, water access and maintenance standards, complemented by sanitary pad provision, disposal systems, emergency contact numbers and supervision by women attendants," Kumar said.
The Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited is also planning for expansion of the facilities to other cities across the state in subsequent phases.

Rs 98.81 lakh welfare aid distributed to differently abled persons in Tirunelveli
Municipal Administration Minister K.N. Nehru distributed welfare assistance worth ₹98.81 lakh to 1, 231 differently abled individuals in Tirunelveli on Sunday. These assistance were provided on behalf of District Administration, Differently Abled Welfare Department and Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund of Indian oil and Alimco. Speaking at the event Tirunelveli Collector R. Sukumar said that over the past four years, welfare assistance worth ₹57.90 crore has been extended to 7,731 beneficiaries through five different schemes implemented by the Differently Abled Welfare Department. These included a monthly assistance of ₹2,000 to each person. He added that an educational allowance of ₹1.44 crore was distributed to 2,715 students from class I to XII, as well those pursuing degree and diploma courses. Additionally, 551 individuals received mobility scooters and other supports. The Collector also highlighted that smartphones equipped with assistive applications were distributed to 325 differently abled persons, and a total of 33,261 individuals benefited from various assistive devices over the past four years. At the event, beneficiaries received tricycles, crutches, folding wheelchairs, hearing aids, calipers, smartphones and other mobility supportive devices. Palyamkottai MLA Abdul Wahab, Tirunelveli District Revenue Officer M. Sukanya, Tirunelveli Revenue Divisional Officer Kanna Karuppaiya and other officials were present.

Hyderabad to get sculpture park around KBR walkway
HYDERABAD: The GHMC, in collaboration with the Krishnakriti Foundation, will develop the Hyderabad Sculpture Park around the Kasu Brahmananda Reddy (KBR) Walkway in Jubilee Hills under the Corporate Social Responsibility programme. The primary objective is to enhance the area with public art installations and improve the overall aesthetic appeal of the walkway. Popular for walking, jogging and enjoying nature, KBR Park is a well-known green space in Hyderabad. The sculpture park is intended to beautify the urban landscape and provide a more appealing experience for visitors and walkers at KBR National Park. The project is being undertaken as part of the GHMC's CSR initiatives, demonstrating a commitment to social and environmental responsibility. Officials said the collaboration with the foundation focuses on integrating art and culture into the urban environment, creating a unique space at the popular KBR Park. On Thursday, the GHMC Standing Committee approved the proposal and recommended it to the GHMC Council for awarding the work. Recently, the foundation submitted proposals to the zonal commissioner of Khairatabad to take up the project. The initiative includes enhancing the city's visual landscape, creating a cultural landmark, promoting public engagement, encouraging CSR partnerships and fostering community involvement through educational programmes. The GHMC's responsibilities include providing designated spaces, facilitating infrastructural and logistical support and assisting in CSR outreach and promotion.

Five lakes in Serilingampally to be rejuvenated
HYDERABAD: Five neglected water bodies in Serilingampally mandal — Mallai Kunta, Bachu Kunta, Gosai Kunta, Chakalvani Cheruvu and Moosa Kunta — will be rejuvenated under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is set to sign an MoU with WaterAid India, Hyderabad, following approval from the standing committee on Thursday. WaterAid representatives met GHMC Commissioner RV Karnan and confirmed that they would take up lake restoration works. In Mallai Kunta, Chandanagar, plans include lake cleaning, bund strengthening, desilting, walking track development, outlet restoration and stone revetment. Bachu Kunta will see bund strengthening, desilting and revetment, while Gosai Kunta in Gopanpally will undergo desilting and stone revetment. At Moosa Kunta, Gachibowli, the project will include bund strengthening, outlet repair and desilting. Chakalvani Cheruvu will be taken up for beautification and related works.
