Five pink toilets for women opened in 4 cities
Patna: Five pink toilets were inaugurated in four Bihar cities on Thursday as a pilot venture, seeking to ensure women and girls have access to secure, hygienic, and private sanitation spaces, protecting them from public harassment.
Two toilets were opened in Patna, while one each in Bhagalpur, Muzaffarpur and Rajgir with Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) fund from
Indian Railway Finance Corporation
Limited.
Bihar deputy chief minister Samrat Chaudhary led the inauguration ceremony, along with urban development and housing minister Jibesh Kumar.
"The distinctive pink colour serves to identify women-specific toilets, which will be operated and maintained by female staff. These facilities are equipped with essential services, including power supply, water access and maintenance standards, complemented by sanitary pad provision, disposal systems, emergency contact numbers and supervision by women attendants," Kumar said.
The Indian Railway Finance Corporation Limited is also planning for expansion of the facilities to other cities across the state in subsequent phases.
