When asked about the rumours of Aamir possibly headlining the film, Basu cautiously replied to Mid-Day, 'No comment. Until everything is finalised and the contract is signed, I don't think I should speak on it.'
A Decade-Long Passion Project
Basu admits the journey of the Kishore Kumar biopic has been full of ups and downs, particularly due to delays in securing approval from Kumar's family. He said that this project has gone through a lot.
"I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it happens this time. I don't want to jinx it,' he added.

While Ranbir Kapoor was initially linked to the role years ago, rumours now hint at Aamir Khan's involvement. However, Basu also opened up about his strong bond with Ranbir, having worked with him on 'Barfi!' (2012) and 'Jagga Jasoos' (2017).
