A Disappointing Update On The ‘Bridgerton' Season 4 Release Date

Forbes20-06-2025
Bridgerton season 4
We know that Bridgerton season 4 will release in 2026, allegedly. But we now have an update that reinforces just how long the wait has been and will continue to be.
The good news is that Netflix has just shared that season 4 of Bridgerton has wrapped filming as of today. The bad news is how long of a wait there is still to come and how long the gaps between these seasons still are.
So, if filming has wrapped now, which we can round up to the beginning of July, we can use past data to figure out when Bridgerton season 4 is actually going to be released. And it's a while yet.
Bridgerton season 3 wrapped filming in March 2023 and stayed in post-production until May 24, 14 months later. So, if season 4 wrapped now, 14 months from the beginning of July would be the beginning of September 2026.
Given that season 3 of Bridgerton season 3 aired in May 2024, that makes this a gap of two years and five months between seasons. We could scale down a few months maybe if we assume season 3 was interrupted by strikes to some degree, but it's still over two years.
Previously, showrunner Jess Brownell has said outright that there is just no way around this:
She may have said they're trying to speed things up, but given the data we've seen here, that does not appear to be happening unless they can dramatically increase their production schedule. And the idea that shows have to be filmed and edited and dubbed and written (with source material to reference) is not exactly something that other shows don't also have to deal with. But I suppose that's why 1.5-3 years is the new norm.
Bridgerton season 4
There are eight books in the Bridgerton series, and if this large gap remains, it will be the mid-to-late 2030s before the show finishes the source material in full. But given how well it performs, it stands to reason that Netflix has every reason to see it through to the end. Here's the synopsis for season 4 via Netflix:
It remains to be seen whether Bridgerton season 4 will be broken up into two parts like season 3. Fans are sick of that, but it's a coinflip whether or not Netflix keeps doing it with its big shows currently. My guess would be yes. See you this fall. Sorry, next fall.

Netflix just gave its reasons for using generative AI in a TV show — and it could be a watershed moment

AI video has come a long way in recent years. As the quality has risen, so have people's concerns about its implications for the creative industries. Now, it looks like the tech is making its way further into Hollywood with Netflix giving it its blessing. In an earnings call, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos opened up on how the Netflix team behind the TV show The Eternaut utilised AI to speed up the production process. The use of AI appears in one scene in the show. It depicts a building collapsing and was made in collaboration between Netflix's internal production team and a group of producers using AI to help create the scene. Sarandos claimed that, through the use of AI, the scene was completed 10 times faster than would have been possible with traditional tools. It was also done at a much lower cost. Through the use of AI, the scene was completed 10 times faster than would have been possible with traditional tools. It was also done at a much lower cost. 'We remain convinced that AI represents an incredible opportunity to help creators make films and series better, not just cheaper. There are AI-powered creator tools. So this is real people doing real work with better tools,' Sarandos said during the call. 'Our creators are already seeing the benefits in production through pre-visualization and shot-planning work, and certainly visual effects. It used to be that only big-budget projects would have access to advanced visual effects like de-aging.' Netflix's other CEO, Greg Peters, has also said that the company is using generative AI in other parts of the business. Get instant access to breaking news, the hottest reviews, great deals and helpful tips. This includes personalization, search and advertisements. However, this is the first time Netflix has publicly used AI in the production of one of its shows. Just a few years ago, the quality of AI video was so poor that any reasonable person would have spotted it in a TV show or film. However, that is no longer the case. The likes of Google's Veo 3 have shown how far not just AI video has come but even AI audio generation. Recently, the first copyright-free AI video generator was announced. It claimed to be able to produce AI video at movie-level quality and aimed to help movie makers speed up the production process and reduce costs. While it is not clear which AI software Netflix used in this process, the quality was high enough to be undetectable. Netflix has seemingly become pretty comfortable with the use of AI. It uses AI art generators for the intro of its Marvel TV show Secret Invasion, and has been rolling out AI features across different parts of its platform. Based on the success of this latest project, and the company's positive attitude towards it, I wouldn't be surprised to see Netflix delve deeper into the use of AI in future projects. 'The Summer I Turned Pretty' Filming Locations As Fans Search For Cousins Beach

The third and final season of The Summer I Turned Pretty officially began streaming on July 16. The Prime Video series, based on the books by Jenny Han (To All the Boys I've Loved Before), has quickly become a fan favorite. The series follows Isabel 'Belly' Conklin (Lola Tung) as she's caught between two crushes: her childhood friend Conrad (Christopher Briney) and his younger brother Jeremiah (Gavin Casalegno). There's also growth and drama in their family dynamics, but the heart of the series is the love story that takes place on Cousins Beach, where Belly's family visits every year. Here's where they made that atmosphere come to life. The two families vacation every year at Cousins Beach, but sadly, it turns out that the beach does not actually exist. Han told Prime Video that she 'had a lot of beaches in [her] head' as she was forming Belly's story. 'I think that's part of the reason why people can read the book and feel like [Cousins Beach] is their beach,' she said. In another interview with Today, she said that Cousins Beach was inspired by Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard, the Hamptons, and Nags Head. Nags Head is in North Carolina, and that's where the show was eventually filmed—more specifically, the town of Wilmington. Other shows filmed in Wilmington, NC include Netflix's The Waterfront and the classic dramas One Tree Hill and Dawson's Creek. The Fisher family's house is located in a Wilmington gated community called Porters Neck Plantation. That's where many of the house's exterior shots were filmed. '[The house] had to have that cedar shake on it because [Han] wanted that Cape Cod Northeast look,' the location manager, Lindsay Fort, told People. As for the interior of the house, those scenes took place on sound stages in Wilmington, but the attention to detail is all the same. 'Our character Susannah [Conrad and Jeremiah's mom] loves to garden, and there are always fresh flowers throughout the house,' the production designer for season 1, Teresa Mastropierro, told House Beautiful. 'Our greens department literally transformed the landscape around the house. I think we bought every last hydrangea plant in the state.' In addition to Wilmington, scenes were filmed in other North Carolina locations like Southport, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Old River Farms, Porters Neck Country Club, Fort Fisher, and Wrightsville Beach, per People. The latter is where Belly and Jeremiah took the path from the house to the beach in season 1. 'That's the one with the seashells hanging in it,' Fort, told People about Wrightsville Beach. 'It has that really pretty romantic vibe that they run down that path.' College scenes were filmed at Han's alma mater, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. 'Filming at my old dorm, Old East, was definitely emotional,' Han told UNC. 'I was in the first class of women who were allowed to live there. I would lay out in the grass and listen to music and look up at the stars. It felt very romantic and nostalgic to come back and be able to shoot my show here.' Giant Willow Oak by Amanda Sauer (L'Artiere) L'Artiere Disobedient by Elizabeth Fremantle (Penguin Books) Disobedient by Elizabeth Fremantle–the celebrated author behind bestselling historical novels turned Hollywood hits such as Firebrand –is a powerful historical novel based on the early life of Baroque painter Artemisia Gentileschi. Set in the vibrant and patriarchal world of 1611 Rome, the story follows young Artemisia as she strives to become an artist in a society where women are expected to remain silent. Raised in a family of painters, Artemisia knows she possesses exceptional talent, but her future is not her own to shape. When a new tutor, the charismatic Tassi, enters her life, he briefly seems to offer a glimpse of freedom—until a violent betrayal shatters her world. After accusing Tassi of rape, Artemisia finds herself at the center of a sensational trial that shakes Rome and puts her very character on trial. Fremantle masterfully captures the emotional weight of a young woman forced to fight for her voice, her future, and her dignity in the face of societal condemnation. Disobedient is both a gripping courtroom drama and a stirring portrait of resilience, illuminating the true story of one of art history's most groundbreaking women. Also look out for Fremantle's latest novel Sinners– set in Rome in 1599–based on the tragic tale of Beatrice Cenci. Bruce Weber 'My Education' / TASCHEN TASCHEN Grace by Scott Offen (L'Artiere) Grace is a poetic and visually striking collaboration between photographer Scott Offen and his partner Grace. This large-format book blends dreamlike imagery with themes of gender, mythology, and nature. Through intimate and symbolic photographs, Grace challenges traditional artistic representation and offers a deeply personal meditation on transformation and freedom. Teresa Piardii's design and Laura McPhee's text elevate Offen's striking, fairytale images, created through a fruitful creative partnership with Grace. Grace by Scott Offen L'Artiere Ahuva Zeloof Faith (Silvana) Faith is a striking exploration of the artistic evolution of contemporary sculptor Ahuva Zeloof, best known for her textured stone carvings and expressive bronze figures. Although a latecomer to the art world, Zeloof has risen quickly, exhibiting internationally alongside figures like Tracey Emin and David Hockney, and holding three solo shows in London. This latest collection marks a significant turning point in her career, as she shifts from emphasizing physical manipulation to evoking spiritual resonance through organic forms. The sculptures in Faith —many cast in bronze from Nubian stones found along Israel's Mediterranean coast—invite viewers to interpret their shapes intuitively, embodying Zeloof's belief that art can emerge naturally when guided by instinct. Accompanied by fine art photography from Georgia Metaxas and a thoughtful essay by curator Federico Poletti, the book offers both a visual and intellectual journey through Zeloof's creative process. Edited by Shelly Verthime, FAITH is not only a showcase of Zeloof's evolving artistry but also a meditation on the dialogue between nature, form, and human perception. Ahuva Zeloof 'Faith' / Silvana Ahuva Zeloof / Silvana Giant Willow Oak by Amanda Sauer (L'Artiere) Amanda Sauer's Giant Willow Oak is a contemplative visual exploration of one tree across time. Sauer spent years documenting the same willow oak in Washington, D.C., through seasonal cycles, offering a lyrical tribute to nature's quiet strength and the passage of time. Sauer's deeply contemplative images of the ancient Oak offer the opportunity to meditate on the importance of humanity's relationship with nature, and the legacy of the living world. Ideal for fans of slow photography, environmental art, and meditative visual storytelling. Giant Willow Oak by Amanda Sauer (L'Artiere) L'Artiere
