Leading Australian post-production firm collapses

The Australia-based firm behind the post-production of hits such as Aquaman, Pirates of the Caribbean and Thirteen Lives has fallen into liquidation. Cutting Edge Post, which has offices in Brisbane, Sydney and the Gold Coast, announced on July 3 that the company would no longer be operating. The production house offered sound and picture services for the advertising, films and TV nationally and across the world, including Hollywood. 'To all our valued clients and supporters, we would like to inform you that after 35 years Cutting Edge Post has officially ceased operations,' it said on social media. According to the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), the decision to send the firm into liquidation was made at a general meeting on June 27. It has since been revealed the company owed $3.7 million, of which $2.4 million is owed to 62 staff across Australia. In documents submitted to ASIC, the debt to staff included $951,680 in redundancy entitlements, $581,649 in annual leave, $484,230 in long service leave and $77,884 in wages, The Herald Sun reported. The report listed other creditors, among whom are the Australian Tax Office which is owed $389,176 and Commonwealth Bank of Australia which is due $25,166. A total of $182,990 in the form of a term loan is listed for the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority, while it is indebted to trade creditors by $81,633. Company director Michael Burton said in the report that 20 trade debtors owed his company a total of $702,243 on top of $35,032 for related party loans. Regarding the firm's current financial state, he said it possessed just over $1 million across its assets. This was made up of $848,024 in fit-outs and $236,500 in bank accounts with the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. William Paul Cotter, from Robson Cotter Insolvency Group, has been appointed as liquidator and has been contacted for comment, as has Cutting Edge Post.

A Disappointing Update On The ‘Bridgerton' Season 4 Release Date

Bridgerton season 4 We know that Bridgerton season 4 will release in 2026, allegedly. But we now have an update that reinforces just how long the wait has been and will continue to be. The good news is that Netflix has just shared that season 4 of Bridgerton has wrapped filming as of today. The bad news is how long of a wait there is still to come and how long the gaps between these seasons still are. So, if filming has wrapped now, which we can round up to the beginning of July, we can use past data to figure out when Bridgerton season 4 is actually going to be released. And it's a while yet. Bridgerton season 3 wrapped filming in March 2023 and stayed in post-production until May 24, 14 months later. So, if season 4 wrapped now, 14 months from the beginning of July would be the beginning of September 2026. Given that season 3 of Bridgerton season 3 aired in May 2024, that makes this a gap of two years and five months between seasons. We could scale down a few months maybe if we assume season 3 was interrupted by strikes to some degree, but it's still over two years. Previously, showrunner Jess Brownell has said outright that there is just no way around this: She may have said they're trying to speed things up, but given the data we've seen here, that does not appear to be happening unless they can dramatically increase their production schedule. And the idea that shows have to be filmed and edited and dubbed and written (with source material to reference) is not exactly something that other shows don't also have to deal with. But I suppose that's why 1.5-3 years is the new norm. Bridgerton season 4 There are eight books in the Bridgerton series, and if this large gap remains, it will be the mid-to-late 2030s before the show finishes the source material in full. But given how well it performs, it stands to reason that Netflix has every reason to see it through to the end. Here's the synopsis for season 4 via Netflix: It remains to be seen whether Bridgerton season 4 will be broken up into two parts like season 3. Fans are sick of that, but it's a coinflip whether or not Netflix keeps doing it with its big shows currently. My guess would be yes. See you this fall. Sorry, next fall. A Sunday Ritual Turns Into a Smoky Scene of Chaos

Every Sunday at 1 p.m. in Boulder, Colo., the walkers take their places. They have done so since a few weeks after the Oct. 7, 2023, Hamas-led attack on Israel. They begin at Pearl and Seventh Streets and walk toward the courthouse, along a pedestrian mall. Lisa Effress, 55, who has lived in Boulder for 17 years, has been there since the first walk. 'Whenever I'm in town,' she said, 'I try to be there.' The ritual is simple: walk, speak the names of those still held hostage, sometimes sing 'Hatikvah,' the Israel national anthem, and bear witness. The numbers vary — 20, sometimes 100. People see the group, hear the songs, and fall into step. They wear red. It's symbolic. It's visible. Ms. Effress wasn't walking this Sunday. She was across the street, having lunch with her daughter. But lunch got cut short. She heard sirens. Police cars, ambulances. She checked the time and figured the group must be near the courthouse. She left lunch and ran over. 'I knew immediately — I just knew,' she said. 'I ran across the street, looking for everyone.' What she found felt surreal. Smoke. Discarded clothes used to extinguish flames. People dazed, half-undressed. Bags and backpacks left behind in panic. And then, she saw a friend who was a Holocaust survivor, being helped into an ambulance. 'It was horrible,' said Ms. Effress, a filmmaker and managing partner in a post-production company. On every walk, Ms. Effress said, she is vigilant. Alert to strange behavior, to tension in the air. 'We are peaceful. We are not protesters,' she said. 'But there are always people protesting us.' She added: 'I have always taught my daughter: Be proud to be Jewish. Don't be afraid. But in a time like this, it is crazy to think we will ever be walking again. It's dangerous, it's not safe for us.' She said that according to a Whatsapp chat for the walking group, the weekly walk has been canceled indefinitely.
