Hearts Melt As Family Helps Senior Dog Be Life of the Party Safely

A senior dog who still wants to be in the middle of every party was able to hang out safely after his owners had a genius idea to keep him safe.
Alexa Stockhausen lives in Long Island, New York, and is the proud owner of Yorkiepoo Marley, who she was surprised with in 2008 after spending "months begging for a puppy."
Her childhood dog is now 16 years old and still very much a part of the family—even when there's a big party going on.
"Marley absolutely still loves parties. He's never liked being alone and is happiest when he's surrounded by people. I actually work from my mom's house when she's out, just to keep him company," Stockhausen told Newsweek.
When the family was preparing to throw a large backyard party for Stockhausen's sister Erica following her engagement, they knew Marley had to be a part of it—but as he's a "senior now and moves a little slower," they had to make some accommodations for him.
And Erica came up with the idea of tying a helium balloon to Marley, which floated above him as he meandered around guests' feet, helping them "keep track of him so no one accidentally tripped."
"Everyone at the party already adored him, and they thought it was both hysterical and heartwarming. And, no falls! We'd honestly recommend this trick to anyone with an older pup at gatherings," she said.

A video shared to Stockhausen's TikTok account @alexastocks on June 30 showed Marley on the day of the party, happily trotting around the garden and patio amid dozens of people.
And, tied to him was a white balloon, with the words: "BEWARE OF DOG."
"Diapers and balloons for our good boy Marley," she wrote in the caption, referencing a special doggy diaper Marley was wearing, which helps senior dogs who may have issues with incontinence.
TikTok users loved the idea, watching the video more than 2.5 million times, one laughing: "I feel like 'Be Aware of Dog' would've been more fitting."
Another said it was "actually a good idea, but a little embarrassing for him," while one said they were "obsessed with this idea."
"Our dog is almost 19 years old and tiny. We constantly spend gatherings holding him and reminding people of where he is when we aren't. Definitely doing this next time," they wrote.

And as one person put it: "This is love. Considering him so far ahead that a problem was anticipated and solved to protect him."
Stockhausen, who also posts to Instagram under @alexastocks, told Newsweek that Marley has "always been the gentlest, sweetest soul. You couldn't ask for a more loving dog."
As for the enormous reaction to her video, she said Marley has "been bringing us joy for 16 years, and it means so much to share that joy with others."

Christian summer camp where girls went missing during devastating flooding has been attended by daughters of Texas' political elite for 100 years
The all-girls Christian summer camp in Texas — where a frantic search is underway for survivors of a catastrophic flood — has been a destination for the daughters of Texas's political elite since it was founded nearly a century ago. Camp Mystic, situated along the Guadalupe River in the tiny town of Hunt, has been a beloved summer retreat for some of the most influential young women in the Lone Star State — and national politics, according to a 2011 Texas Monthly story The Post discovered Friday. 3 Camp Mystic, where nearly two dozen girls are missing after horrifying flooding, has catered to the Texas political elite for generations. campmystichunttx/Instagram Advertisement The daughters of former Texas Govs. Dan Moody, Price Daniel and John Connally, who was shot as he sat next to President John F. Kennedy when he was assassinated in Dallas in 1963, all attended the camp, according to the outlet. The daughters, granddaughters and great-granddaughters of Democratic President Lyndon B. Johnson — JFK's successor and one of Texas' most formidable politicians — also summered at Camp Mystic, per Texas Monthly. James Baker, who served as chief of staff to Republican Presidents Ronald Reagan and George H.W. Bush, sent his daughter and a granddaughter to Camp Mystic, the outlet added. Advertisement While attending Southern Methodist University, future first lady Laura Bush was a Camp Mystic counselor, years before she married George W. Bush, who would serve as Texas governor he, like his father, became president, according to Texas Monthly. 3 Camp Mystic, an all-girls Christian camp, was devastated by floods this week. campmystichunttx/Instagram 3 Presidents from both parties sent their daughters to Camp Mystic, including LBJ and both Presidents Bush. campmystichunttx/Instagram Campers would go on to 'become executives for Neiman Marcus, dance with London's Royal Ballet, own a Gymboree franchise in the former Soviet Union, or marry well and become the kind of intensely focused volunteers who would probably be happier as CEOs,' the outlet wrote. Advertisement 'I don't care where my goddaughter goes to college, but I do care where she goes to camp,' Mystic alum Catherine Jones told a reporter. Camp Mystic, which will celebrate its 100th birthday next year, was founded by EJ 'Doc' Stewart, a former head football coach at the University of Texas, in 1926, according to its website. Its mission is 'to provide young girls with a wholesome Christian atmosphere in which they can develop outstanding personal qualities and self-esteem,' its site added. Aside from when the federal government leased Camp Mystic as 'a convalescent camp for Army Air Corps veterans of World War II' between 1943 and 1945, it has operated continuously since its founding, according to the Texas State Historical Association.

I shed 170 pounds and learned that ‘skinny privilege' is real — here are the things I couldn't get away with when I was fat
Here's the skinny on what a former overweight woman's life is like now that she's skinny. Shrinking down from 298 pounds to 130 pounds is a massive change, says Krista, a 30-something from Colorado, who's dropped 170 hunks of excess chunk sans anti-obesity shots, as the Daily Mail previously reported. But, according to the newly slimmed siren, an even more massive change since losing the weight has been the lifestyle habits she can now 'get away with,' which were previously impermissible when she was plump. It's much like pretty privilege — when the world becomes one's oyster owing to their hotness. However, when that favor comes only after fat loss, it also comes with a bit of a sting, per Krista. 'Three things that skinny people can get away with that fat people cannot,' she began in her TikTok countdown. 'No. 1, now that I'm skinny, I could literally not workout another day in my life and nobody would care,' said the brunette. 'But the second you're fat, everybody has an opinion about what you're doing and how you're moving your body.' 'And if you're not actively moving it, you're just a lazy disgusting person.' Krista went on to say that acting like a jerk is a slender person's perk. 'No. 2,' she listed, 'now that I'm skinny, I can get away with being a b- -ch more than I could when I was fat.' 'When you're fat, people automatically respect you less because of your size,' she surmised. 'So the second you have an attitude or you're not nice or you're too opinionated, the [derogatory] names start coming out and people just don't like you.' But much to the millennial's shock, her tremendous weight loss came with the green light to be mean whenever she liked. 'When you're skinny,' continued Krista, 'you have these same opinions you maybe had when you were fat…but now they respect you.' 'And it's okay for you to say those things now because you're skinny.' But Krista says the most fab side effect that's come with her new physique is the freedom to dress how she pleases. 'I can wear whatever I want whenever I want,' she stated as the No. 3 benefit of being fit. 'I can wear baggy clothes, tight clothes — literally anything, and look put together.' 'Being skinny is the outfit.' 'When you're fat and you wear tight clothes, you feel like you look disgusting,' she continued. 'You feel like you just can't win. Getting dressed when you're fat is just super hard.' 'Moral of the story,' Krista said with a smirk, 'being skinny is superior to being fat.' And her virtual viewers agreed. 'Skinny privilege is insane,' a commenter crowed. 'Also eating whatever I want in public without fear of being judged,' another onlooker added to Krista's list, prompting her to concur, writing in response: 'Omg yes this one!!!.' 'It's so cute and quirky if a skinny girl eats a lot of food — like whoa what a big appetite,' noted a separate supporter. 'But a big person having a normal meal is like, 'Hmm should you be eating that?.'' 'Brutal,' another remarked, 'but true.'
