Rohit Godara gang seeks 30 crore from Sriganganagar BJP functionary
Jaipur: Sriganganagar businessman Ashok Chandak, a member of the BJP, lodged a complaint at Kotwali police station Saturday alleging that gangster Rohit Godara had threatened to kill him and his family if he did not pay up Rs 30 crore. Tired of too many ads? go ad free now Chandak alleged that beginning June 20, he and his son have received repeated death threats. His FIR said the threats began after his business partner Ashish Gupta was shot at on June 17. Gupta survived the attack, and now is under police protection. On June 20 at 12.26pm, Chandak received an audio message in which the caller threatened him and demanded Rs 30 crore. "We'll strike so hard you won't forget. Even your police guards won't be able to save you. Your lifetime earnings will be of no use — no one from your family will survive to enjoy it. Someone else will take over your contracts in Punjab," the caller said. Two days later, Chandak said he received three more calls that he did not answer. His son, Raghav, then received a missed call from an unknown number, followed by a message saying, "Talk to us." When Raghav returned the call, a man claiming to be gangster Harry Boxer threatened him and repeated the demand for Rs 30 crore. Boxer reportedly called once more on June 24 with similar threats. Chandak also accused a local criminal, Sunil Pehlwan, of orchestrating the attack on Gupta. In his complaint, he requested police to verify the authenticity of the calls and audio clips and take appropriate action. "Chandak and his son Raghav were threatened through social media calls and audio messages. An FIR has been registered and investigation has begun. He added that the audio and phone recordings provided by Chandak were sent for forensic examination, and it is being investigated whether the threats were issued by an organised gang. Police have identified the shooters involved in the June 17 attack on Gupta but are yet to arrest them. The shooting took place outside a gym on Jassa Singh Road. Gupta, a 50-year-old real estate businessman, had just stepped out after a workout when he was fired at. He sustained bullet injuries in his leg.

Dubai, Pak links into illegal arms mfg racket suspected
Lucknow: The ongoing investigation into the illegal arms manufacturing racket busted in Malihabad has taken a turn, with Lucknow Police uncovering a possible Dubai connection and probing suspected ties to Pakistan. Hakeem Salauddin, 68, who was arrested earlier this week after a late-night raid led police to an illegal arms unit operating out of a residential area in Malihabad. During the raid, police recovered a cache of illicit firearms, live ammunition, and even prohibited wildlife material from Salauddin's home. The investigators also recovered a laptop containing records of frequent communication with a Dubai-based phone number. According to police sources, Salauddin was in almost daily contact with this number—often calling once or twice a day. While local-level arms transactions were handled domestically, police suspect that larger consignments were coordinated through this international channel. DCP North Gopal Krishna Choudhary confirmed the seizure of a significant cache from Salauddin's residence, including three .32 bore pistols, a .315 bore country-made pistol, two .22 bore country-made pistols, one .22 bore rifle, and seven airguns. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like local network access control Esseps Learn More Undo Also recovered were 18 live cartridges of .315 bore, 68 of .22 bore, and 30 of 12 bore, along with 40 empty cartridges (.22 bore), tools, semi-manufactured weapons, Rs 2,000 in cash, and the skin of a protected deer species. The cyber cell is currently examining Salauddin's laptop to retrieve emails, chat records, and social media activity that may reveal the identities of possible associates or foreign handlers. Surveillance teams are also analysing his call detail records (CDRs) and bank transactions to trace the financial trail behind the illegal arms trade. Salauddin's nephew, Gaush Khan, has been detained for interrogation. He is believed to possess critical information about Salauddin's contacts in Pakistan and other countries. Investigators say over a dozen of Salauddin's relatives have lived in Pakistan since the 1950s, and the family made frequent trips across the border, reportedly two to three times a year. The probe has further revealed that Salauddin was employing skilled gunsmiths from Madhya Pradesh and Bihar under the guise of tenants. While he posed publicly as a traditional healer and honey seller, his house served as a covert manufacturing hub for illegal arms. Police are now preparing to seek Salauddin's custody remand for further probe, particularly into his suspected links with networks operating out of Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).

4 days after Kolkata rape, cops seize hockey stick, clothing of suspects; collect DNA
KOLKATA: The hockey stick with which ex-Trinamool Chhatra Parishad union president Manojit Mishra inflicted a head injury on the 24-year-old Kolkata law student he and two others allegedly gang-raped on campus last Wednesday now sits inside an evidence bag at Lalbazar, the city police headquarters. So do the red kurta, light brown six-pocket trousers and black shorts the prime suspect was purportedly wearing during the crime. In four days since the assault, Kolkata Police's special investigation team has moved with urgency and meticulousness that contrast with its contentious handling of the RG Kar Medical College rape-murder case last Aug. Police said Sunday they had collected DNA samples from all three suspects and seized items of clothing from their homes in Kalighat, Tiljala and Howrah, reports Tamaghna Banerjee. From the guard room floor where the crime occurred, forensic teams have retrieved hair strands, said to be evidence of how the survivor fought back before giving up. "I just lay like a dead body," she wrote in her complaint. CCTV caught her being dragged back to room Police said Sunday they had collected DNA samples from all three suspects and seized items of clothing from their homes in Kalighat, Tiljala and Howrah. From the guard room floor where the crime occurred, forensic teams have retrieved hair strands, said to be evidence of how the survivor fought back before giving up. 'I just lay like a dead body,' she wrote in her complaint. The real smoking gun? Mishra's cellphone. Co-suspects Zaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukherjee – both law students – allegedly filmed the assault on Mishra's orders, making sure to capture the survivor's face clearly in the frame. Those videos, sent for verification to the cyber forensics lab in Kolkata's Salt Lake, tell a story that contradicts Mishra's claims of 'consensual sex' with the woman whose refusal to accept his marriage proposal allegedly triggered the assault. CCTV footage backs the survivor's version of what happened between 7.30pm and 10.50pm Wednesday. Cameras captured her bolting for the main gate, only to be dragged back to the guard room. They also caught the colour of Mishra's kurta, later matched to the one seized from his Kalighat home. Based on the footage, investigators have calculated that 25 students were on campus that day, and seven were in the union room just before the assault. Police have asked authorities of the south Kolkata law college to provide their names, phone numbers and addresses. Mishra's phone also revealed more than just Wednesday's horror. Sources said investigators found what his circle already knew — a cache of doctored photos of female students, their faces superimposed on pornographic images and shared on WhatsApp groups. The nine-member SIT led by an officer of the rank of assistant commissioner spent Sunday at Pramit's Howrah home, combing through his computer for more videos. Neighbours protested, but the team – bolstered by the addition of four sub-inspectors, one of them a woman officer – stayed put for two hours. What they found there is still to be disclosed. Sources said a relative of the survivor's family told police that they were satisfied with the probe for now and are expecting a speedy trial.
