GTA 4 Remastered could arrive this year according to leaks, and it needs it
Leaks are claiming that a new remaster for GTA 4 could touch down before 2025 is out, and it couldn't be a better time to capitalize on a game that sorely needs a new lick of paint.
A new rumour has appeared thanks to one GTA leaker, who claims that GTA 4 Remastered could be on the way before the end of the year.
It's hard to deny that GTA is the franchise of the hour – and frankly, the last few decades. When Rockstar Games so much as twitches, it sends shockwaves through the entire gaming industry, which makes the fact that it revealed a major GTA 6 delay and the long-awaited GTA 6 trailer 2 all in the space of a week all the more surprising. The gaming company pulled out all of the stops to ensure that the disappointment of receiving history's most anticipated game was alleviated, and it seems as though they may have just managed it.
There's no surprise that the title has so much pressure on it – GTA 6 is the latest instalment of gaming's biggest franchise ever, following on from a lineage of games that seem to transcend iconic. They're a beast of their own, and all eyes are on the new title. But as it seems, players should be keeping an eye on the past.
New leaks have appeared from a leaker widely considered to be the closest to Rockstar Games on the internet, and they indicate that Grand Theft Auto's past could be about to get a new lick of paint.
Return to Liberty City
Even though Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition was an unmitigated disaster when it launched, it looks like Rockstar Games is taking up a new opportunity to reboot a game in dire need of some changes, as a GTA leaker has claimed that GTA 4 Remastered could be on the way. Taking to GTAForums, notable leaker Tez2 has responded to a question about the potential of a remake or remaster of Niko Bellic's adventure, and they seem to expect a new port for the game.
'Someone at R* hinted at the IV port, and by now it should've gone up a year in development,' they say. 'We may end up seeing it drop later this year. And it's one more reason, in addition to existing reasons, the LCPP mod was taken down. If they still follow their plan laid out from the pandemic days, they'll do an MP3 port after IV. So that is an opportunity to do a bundle or a Definitive Edition. Max Payne 1 & 2 remakes, and a Max Payne 3 port.'
It's a surprising revelation, especially when many players would hope that the entire Rockstar Games workforce would be trying to push GTA 6 over the line, but there's no doubt that GTA 4 is deserving of a new lick of paint. The game's vehicle controls are loose and wobbly, and its visuals are a little overexposed, which suits its art style, but doesn't feel particularly modern. GTA 4 Remastered's arrival by the end of the year would be a treat for many players, especially if it tidies up a number of issues that make the game's brilliant story a little hard to access these days.
Take the leaks with a pinch of salt, as even Tez2 could be wrong – but there's little doubt that it's an exciting implication. It looks like we're going to have a very GTA-heavy couple of years.

I bought GTA 5 for the third time and it's still one of the best games ever
A reader reveals how the wait for GTA 6 led him to buy GTA 5 for the PS5, as he insists the 12-year-old game is still the best entry in the series so far. I love Grand Theft Auto. I'm in my fifties now and I don't often play video games anymore. If I have any spare time, I prefer to watch decent films or well scripted television series, like Succession. Video games require effort and physical interaction and I'm not really up for that after a week at work. Up until this year, due to my overall gaming lapse, I'd resisted upgrading to the current generation of consoles, but I've now purchased a PlayStation 5 for one reason alone. I have to play Grand Theft Auto 6. It's like an overpowering urge akin to when you're ravenous and you see a big tasty-looking cake. You want that cake. There's no debate in your head. That cake must find its way into your mouth. That's how I feel about Grand Theft Auto 6. When the new Grand Theft Auto game was delayed until next year I was utterly heartbroken, especially since I bought a new console for the sole purpose of playing it. The current instalment in the franchise, Grand Theft Auto 5, is relatively cheap at the moment (about 15 quid) and the old/current game began to look quite appealing to me as a stopgap until I could play the new game, but I held back from buying GTA 5 because I already own two copies on other formats. How could I possibly justify buying and playing Grand Theft Auto 5 again? Years ago, I bought and played GTA 5 extensively on the PlayStation 3. I purchased the game a second time on the Xbox One. In that enhanced version of the game there were notable improvements. Mainly, I'm thinking about first person view being an option in every vehicle. Grand Theft Auto 5 on PlayStation 5 seemed so unnecessary to me. Apparently the PlayStation 5 version wasn't much of an improvement, and wouldn't it be better and more adventurous to branch out and play something else? But then, as I've mentioned above, GTA 6 got delayed and I needed to satisfy my hunger for the franchise, and so I found myself buying the same game a third time. After this purchase I rather regretted surrendering to my urges, that is until I installed Grand Theft Auto 5 and actually started playing it. Sign up to the GameCentral newsletter for a unique take on the week in gaming, alongside the latest reviews and more. Delivered to your inbox every Saturday morning. From my hands-on experience of the PlayStation 5 version, I have to say that Grand Theft Auto 5 is still a right laugh and in many respects I think it might be the best entry in the series. The missions in 5 are a major improvement on the previous games, in that they're fun and often spectacular. All too often in the other games, some of the missions regressed into becoming a major chore. That remote control helicopter mission in the multi-story carpark in Vice City sticks in my head as a serious blight in an otherwise enjoyable experience. Grand Theft Auto 5 is far more accommodating. If you keep failing the game offers you a chance to skip a mission, which is probably sacrilege to hardcore gamers but I think a bit of all-abilities inclusion is an excellent idea. I'm still barely into my latest playthrough and already rescuing Michael's son from his hijacked boat was/is so cool. You're chasing down a stolen yacht that's being towed in a trailer. Franklin jumps onto the yacht while it's in motion and you have to then catch him and Michael's dangling son. Brilliant stuff. I can't immediately remember missions with that kind of scope in the earlier games. I also love the random incidents that occur throughout the map while you play. After you've darted over to intervene in a theft, in true Grand Theft Auto style you can either give the money back to its rightful owner or keep it for yourself. The Strangers and Freaks side missions are a great addition too. Grand Theft Auto 5 offers a multitude of tempting distractions, other than simply running amok until the police take you down, which although fun can become a rather aimless and morally troubling activity. On this latest playthrough of GTA 5 I've only noticed a couple of downsides. I've been forced to remember how much I hated Franklin's mate Lamar. Just a horrible, moaning character with dialogue that's littered with offensive expletives. I punched Lamar and ran him over and that provided marginal relief but, yes, I still hate him. And the character models in general look a bit crusty and old, which is perfectly understandable given the age of the game itself. And if I'm honest the only improvement in the PlayStation 5 version is that the game loads slightly faster and maybe the environments look marginally better… so was it worth buying the game yet again? More Trending I have to say yes. Playing Grand Theft Auto 5 is still a joy and I'd recommend readers giving the game another go given its cheap price. In my opinion, no other game offers such a multifaceted and amusingly detailed experience. Listening to Cara Delevingne on Non-Stop-Pop FM. Stealing a flashy sports car and then gunning it for miles across the brilliantly realised map. Grand Theft Auto 5 really is the gift that keeps on giving, that is until Grand Theft Auto 6 finally comes out. Popular singer brutally mocked over disastrous acapella performance of her biggest hit
R&B star Amerie has been savaged online after performing an acapella version of her 2005 hit 1 Thing. The singer, 45, was performing at the AFRAM music festival in Baltimore when she told her band to stop playing so that she could sing acapella. Amerie, who has been under fire for her vocal abilities in recent weeks, seemed to be trying to prove her skills by performing the track completely live and unaccompanied. However, many fans on social media were left underwhelmed by her rendition of the iconic song. 'Is this a humiliation ritual?' asked one, while another wrote, 'You can tell she's tryna prove something here.' A third commented, 'Artists do have off days... They are human. It seems the band not playing in the right keys can throw off the artist as well.' Another wrote, 'Sounds like somebody singing in the shower but I'mma mind my business.' A fifth fan wrote, 'Internet got everybody trying to prove themselves smh. Amerie is a legend in her own right. Who truly cares if she off key?' Other claimed that it's the key of the song and not Amerie's actual vocal abilities that are the issue when it comes to singing 1 Thing live. 'All this could've been avoided by changing the key lol,' wrote one. 'Just change the key!' demanded another, while a third wrote, 'Omg why won't she change the key.' A fourth said, 'That song IS insanely hard to sing. It's so high and so fast.' Other fans jumped to the star's defense and said that she sounds the same live as she does on the recorded version. 'She sounds JUST like the song to me... I don't get the hate,' stated one. Another wrote, 'She sounds EXACTLY like she sound back in the day - if y'all don't know who Amerie is just say that.' It comes after Amerie was ridiculed online following a live performance she did for NPR's Tiny Desk Concert. The 18-minute set went viral online earlier this month, with many fans feeling underwhelmed by Amerie's vocals. 'I genuinely didn't expect her to sound as bad as she did. I think she makes wonderful music, but her background singers suck. She sounded like she couldn't hear herself,' wrote one. 'She's stunning and seems like she had fun. However she doesn't sound that good to be honest,' wrote another. Amerie first shot to fame in 2002 with her debut single Why Don't We Fall in Love. Her career ascended to new heights in 2005 with 1 Thing, which topped the R&B charts and became a major hit across Europe. She recently revealed that her record label almost gave 1 Thing to Jennifer Lopez instead of her, so she leaked her version to radio stations to prevent JLo from getting it. Shortly afterwards, producer Rich Harrison helped Lopez, now 55, record and release Get Right, a track with a similar sound and nearly identical elements. After her success on the music charts, Amerie reinvented herself as a book influencer on YouTube. After building a following in the literary space, Amerie published a children's book in 2017 and released her first novel earlier this month.

Everything you need to know about GTA 6 as game listed on Xbox early
Rockstar isn't due to release Grand Theft Auto 6 until May 2026, but Xbox players were shocked to find that the world's most anticipated game was available to download from the Xbox Store a full 11 months ahead of its launch. It was too good to be true, of course. The surprise 328MB download turns out to be a placeholder file, designed to allow Rockstar Games to automatically pre-install the game to Xbox consoles when it does eventually launch next year. Rockstar hasn't even opened pre-orders for GTA 6 yet, but the frenzy around a dummy Xbox download is the latest indication of just how excited fans are to get even the faintest whiff of the game. Why was 'GTA 6' delayed? The CEO of Take-Two, which owns Rockstar Games, has confirmed why the decision was made to delay the release of Grand Theft Auto 6. The game was pushed back from its initial release window of Autumn 2025 to 26 May 2026, and Zelnick said it's because of how 'complex' the game is, describing the delay as a 'worthy investment'. In prepared remarks ahead of an earnings call, Zelnick said: 'I believe affording Rockstar additional time for such a groundbreaking project is a worthy investment. GTA 6 began development in earnest in 2020 following the massive success of Red Dead Redemption 2, and the title is now the most anticipated entertainment property of all time. 'The ambition and complexity of GTA 6 is greater than any previous Rockstar title, and the team is poised to release another astonishing entertainment experience that will exceed players' expectations.' This explanation comes after Rockstar released the second trailer for GTA 6 on 6 May, which had the biggest video launch in history with more than 475 million views across all platforms in its first 24 hours after release. It gave a fresh glimpse of protagonists Lucia and her partner – now confirmed to be named Jason – tearing through the Florida-inspired Vice City. It's the first trailer since the first teaser from December 2023, which shattered YouTube records and has since racked up more than 250 million views itself. The delay itself came on 2 May, shortly after Zelnick hinted a slip was possible despite earlier confidence in a 2025 launch window. While GTA 6 is now on the back burner until 2026, Borderlands 4, which was announced at the same time, is still scheduled to arrive in September. So, what do we know about GTA 6? When is the game releasing? And how much could it cost? We've got all the details about the upcoming instalment of the franchise. 'GTA 6' release date and trailer 2: When will the game launch? The long-awaited second trailer for GTA 6 recently landed, giving fans a fresh look at Vice City and our two new protagonists, but it came with a dose of disappointment. Rockstar officially confirmed that the game won't be arriving in 2025 as originally promised. Instead, it's now set to launch on 26 May 2026, according to a statement shared on the publisher's social media channels. It's not the first time Rockstar has delayed a major release. Take Red Dead Redemption 2, for example. The first teaser for that game arrived in October 2016 with a planned launch in the second half of 2017. It was then delayed twice, first to early 2018, and finally released on 26 October 2018 – a full two years after the teaser dropped. The timeline now looks similar for GTA 6. The game's first trailer debuted in December 2023, promising a 2025 release window. But with the new date set for May 2026, Rockstar appears to be following a familiar pattern. Timeline of 'GTA 6' release date delays Rumours of a GTA 6 delay began circulating in March 2024, when a report from Kotaku revealed insiders at Rockstar believed the game would be pushed to late 2025 or even early 2026. According to the report, development had started to 'fall behind,' with Rockstar leadership concerned the studio wouldn't hit its original target. Just a month earlier, in February 2024, Rockstar mandated a full return to the office for its staff. While the company cited quality and security as reasons, sources told Kotaku it was also driven by mounting pressure to stay on schedule. At the time, Kotaku reported that while early 2025 had once been possible, the studio was now aiming for an Autumn 2025 launch – a sentiment echoed by Zelnick during earnings calls throughout the year. In December 2024, Zelnick teased the game as 'extraordinary and worth waiting for,' adding that it would be 'breathtaking.' That timeline was finally upended when Rockstar officially confirmed the delay and set a new release date of 26 May 2026. The news came just ahead of the release of GTA 6 's second trailer, giving fans a new glimpse at the game's setting and characters. Zelnick has also given recent interviews where he's said when a specific release date is given, it's historically been met in relation to other titles. 'GTA 6' location: Where is Vice City? The second trailer for GTA 6 confirms the game is set in the state of Leonida – Rockstar's fictional take on Florida. Vice City sits at the centre of it all, returning as the main location. This time around, the city looks bigger, more detailed and far more grounded in modern-day culture than the 1980s version seen in previous games. While Vice City still has the flashy beachfronts and neon lights, it now includes everything from pastel hotels and late-night strip clubs to busy roads, local businesses and viral-style social media clips. Areas like Ocean Beach, Little Haiti and the Tisha-Wocka flea market all appear to be part of the city. Landmarks like the VCI airport and Port VC show up again, hinting at a much larger, more complex map. The game will also include locations like the Leonida Keys – a tropical island chain – and Grassrivers, a sprawling swamp region. There's Port Gellhorn, a faded coastal town with run-down shops and motels, and Ambrosia, which is dominated by a sugar refinery and a biker gang. Mount Kalaga, a mountainous rural area in the north, rounds things out. While Vice City is the headline location, GTA 6 is shaping up to be much more than a city map. The wider state of Leonida looks like a vast world, with plenty to explore outside the city. There is speculation that the inclusion of Mount Kalaga and the mention of Gloriana, which could be a fictional state based on neighbouring Georgia, means the game will expand beyond Leonida too. 'GTA 6' story and characters: Who will be the main protagonists in the new game? Rockstar recently released character bios for GTA 6. The two main protagonists are Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos. Jason is a former soldier working for local drug runners in the Keys, while Lucia has just been released from Leonida Penitentiary and is looking for a way to turn her life around. Cal Hampton is Jason's friend and an associate of Brian Heder. He is described as living 'at the low tide of America' and spends his time listening to Coast Guard communications while drinking at home. Brian Heder is a veteran drug smuggler from the Keys. He runs a boat yard with his third wife, Lori, and is allowing Jason to live rent-free at one of his properties in exchange for help with local shakedowns. Boobie Ike is described as a Vice City legend who owns a strip club, recording studio and property portfolio, while Dre'Quan Priest is said to be an aspiring music mogul who runs Only Raw Records and is focused on building his label's reputation in the local music scene. Real Dimez is a rap duo made up of Bae-Luxe and Roxy. They are described as using their time shaking down dealers to fund their music careers and grow their social media following. They are signed to Only Raw Records. Raul Bautista is described as a seasoned bank robber who is always on the hunt for new talent. How much is 'GTA 6' going to cost? There's still no official price, and Take-Two bosses refused to be drawn on revealing how much it will cost despite being asked about it by investors during the most recent earnings call. While rumours have suggested the game could cost up to $150 (£120) due to its reported $1bn to $2bn budget, that seems unlikely. The price of games is rising, though, with Nintendo the first to up the price of one of its star digital games to $80 (£75) with Mario Kart World. Microsoft confirmed it will be following suit and doing the same with some of its first-party titles over the pre-Christmas shopping period. There has been speculation Rockstar is likely to follow suit, however Mafia: The Old Country, published by sister Rockstar company 2K, is being sold at $49.99 (£44.99) and Zelnick said in Take-Two's most recent earnings call the company is focused on giving gamers value for money through its variable pricing model. What console will 'GTA 6' be on, and is 'GTA 6' cross-platform? GTA 6 is officially coming to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on 26 May 2026. Rockstar has not confirmed a PC release, and there's no mention yet of a version for PS4, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch 2. A PC version will likely come later, based on Rockstar's usual release pattern. Cross-platform play has not been confirmed. Rockstar hasn't said anything specific about the Nintendo Switch 2, but Zelnick has previously said the Switch's audience has broadened and that 'we actually would fully expect to support Switch [2]', though GTA 6 was not mentioned by name. If it does come to the Switch 2, it'll almost certainly be well after the main launch. There's worse news for 4K support and 60fps. In 2024, Digital Foundry's Richard Leadbetter said the PS5 Pro was unlikely to run GTA 6 at 60fps, explaining that the series has always pushed the CPU hard. Since the PS5 Pro uses the same CPU as the base PS5, experts believe it will likely be locked to 30fps at launch, with possible upgrades later. Tech experts there have since doubled down on these claims after scrutinising the second trailer. While there are currently no deals on the standalone PS5 Slim console, if you buy the console from Very, the retailer will throw in a copy of the PS5 version of GTA 5 for just £10, saving you £10.
