Emma Watson appears to be embracing a new chapter both academically and romantically. The 34-year-old Harry Potter star, who is currently pursuing a DPhil (Oxford's version of a PhD) in creative writing, was spotted in Port Meadow, Oxford, enjoying a casual date with a mystery man.
Passersby said the pair were painting portraits of each other, laughing, and sharing a picnic, largely unnoticed by others nearby. 'They were having a general chat and making each other laugh, which was cute,' said Judie Kitchen, a student who saw them. 'They were painting each other and eating together. It was just a really cute date.'
This sighting comes nearly a year after Emma was seen at an Oxford bakery with fellow student Kieran Brown, sparking speculation about a budding romance. Before that, she was in a more public relationship with Brandon Green, son of British tycoon Sir Philip Green. The pair reportedly split in late 2023 after an 18-month relationship that included meeting each other's families and vacations in Venice.
Watson, who splits her time between the US and the UK, has largely kept her personal life private, though she occasionally shares introspective glimpses on social media.
As for her current connection, while Emma hasn't commented publicly, witnesses say the chemistry was unmistakable. 'They only had eyes for one another,' one source said, suggesting the actress may have found new joy amid her academic journey.

Oasis fans flock to Cardiff for long-awaited comeback

The Gallagher brothers had been feuding for over a decade. Photo: File Tens of thousands of ecstatic Oasis fans headed to Cardiff on Friday as the legendary Britpop band kicked off a highly anticipated reunion tour nearly 16 years after last performing together. The concert at the Principality Stadium in the Welsh capital was to be the first of a 41-date run of gigs spanning the world, including in the United States, Japan, Australia and Brazil. Once-warring brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, their bandmates and UK support acts are set to perform in Cardiff on Friday and Saturday before five hometown gigs in Manchester starting on July 11. Further sold-out British and Irish concerts will follow at London's Wembley Stadium, Edinburgh's Murrayfield Stadium and Dublin's Croke Park, before the international leg of their Oasis Live '25 tour. "All that matters is how the people in that stadium feel," Liam Gallagher, 52, said on social media last week, as months of anticipation reach a climax. Fans have been sharing their excitement at the first chance to see Oasis play live since 2009 – or ever – after it was long seen as a remote prospect following one of music's most acrimonious break-ups. The band's 1990s gigs are the stuff of legend. "The feeling is biblical!" fuel tanker driver Sean Campbell, 35, told AFP before attending Friday's gig. "I've been waiting years for their return. I missed out on going years ago, so this is my first time seeing them live." Ticket controversy Oasis, famous for 1990s hits like Live Forever and Wonderwall, announced its comeback tour last August, days before the 30th anniversary of their debut album, Definitely Maybe. The Manchester rockers split in 2009, with Noel saying he "simply could not go on working with Liam a day longer". The Gallagher brothers had maintained a war of words about each other for more than a decade, performing individually over those years but never together. The surprise announcement that they had finally put aside their feud to reunite sparked an online frenzy for tickets but outrage over sudden price hikes that saw Britain's competition watchdog threaten legal action. Resale tickets costing thousands of pounds have surfaced, while fans have also been targeted by online scams. Britain's Lloyds Bank estimated in April that victims had collectively lost more than £2 million ($2.7 million). The tour is expected to be a boon for the struggling UK economy. Fans could spend more than £1 billion combined on tickets and outgoings such as transportation and accommodation, Barclays bank estimated in May. 'Rough and ready' Oasis will be supported in the UK by Richard Ashcroft, frontman of British rock band The Verve, as well as the Liverpool-formed band Cast. Illuminated drones displayed Oasis's classic logo above the Cardiff stadium late Wednesday, in a one-night display adding to the buzz around the tour's kick-off. Oasis began jamming together months ago, before starting rehearsals in London more recently. The band has reportedly welcomed several new members for the tour, including a keyboard player and drummer. Writing in the tour programme, Noel, 58, reflected on the band's enduring popularity, saying "a new generation recognises how Oasis wasn't manufactured". "It was chaotic, and flawed, and not technically brilliant. We were rough and ready guys from a rehearsal room, and people recognised it." AFP

Brad Pitt reveals why a Ford v Ferrari team up with Tom Cruise never happened

Brad Pitt confirmed that he and Tom Cruise were once attached to star in an earlier version of Ford v Ferrari. In an interview with The National, Pitt said the two were considered for the roles of British driver Ken Miles and American automotive designer Carroll Shelby, respectively. However, Cruise opted out after learning that Shelby's character had limited driving scenes. 'When Tom realized that Carroll Shelby would not be driving much in the movie, it didn't come through,' Pitt said. The 2019 film Ford v Ferrari, later directed by James Mangold and starring Christian Bale and Matt Damon, was released to critical and commercial success. Pitt described the film as 'a great movie' and did not express any regrets about not participating. Asked about future collaborations with Cruise, Pitt indicated openness but noted he would prefer to avoid Cruise's well-known stunt work. Pitt and Cruise previously worked together in the 1994 film Interview with the Vampire. Pitt also mentioned their past go-kart racing experiences during the interview, recalling that Cruise usually won. 'He got me in the end,' Pitt said. While the on-screen pairing in Ford v Ferrari never happened, Pitt's comments have renewed interest in the possibility of future projects involving the two actors.
