The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 May Turn Out to Be Quite Rare
Up to this point, just 302 ZR1 orders have been accepted by the factory and entered into the system where they can be tracked by employees and the handful of future owners, according to a seemingly well-placed forum user known as Corvette Ed. With dealers reportedly receiving zero new ZR1 allocations for the final cycle of 2025, it looks like that's where the count will stop for year one.
Not only does that make the 233 mph monster's maiden voyage one of the shortest in recent memory for a 'Vette variant, the first 302 are guaranteed to stand out in the long run — as they will be the only ones ever fitted with the original C8 Corvette interior. Starting in 2026, all examples of America's Sports Car, from Stingray to ZR1, will be treated to a slew of interior upgrades that notably includes the removal of the so-called 'wall of buttons' that has been polarizing car circles since 2020.
Of that initial run of 302 cars, 185 are slated to be coupes, according to the report, leaving 117 orders for the hard top convertible. The 61% take rate for the coupe and its exclusive split rear window flips the script on what we've seen with the other widebody C8s, which started in 2023 with the Performance Car of the Year-winning Z06. That year, drop-top Z06s outsold coupes 3304 to 3109; the following year, bolstered by the emergence of the hybrid all-wheel-drive E-Ray, the widebody 'verts were victorious again, by a margin of 140 units (6066 to 5926).
Unfortunately, the report still leaves us in the dark regarding take rate on the big-winged ZTK track package that debuted on and adorned some 70% of the swansong C7 ZR1s – though, with heavy constraints plaguing carbon fiber parts across the C8 range throughout 2025, the new car isn't likely to approach the ratio of the '19s. The MidEngineCorvetteForum post also goes into the paint choices of the orders, and brings up another outlier in the limited crop of '25 ZR1s: just 22 examples will reportedly wear colors that have since been retired, 16 in Sea Wolf Gray and six in Rapid Blue.
Regardless of spec, releasing an inaugural run of 302 ZR1s into a world clamoring for the model's herculean horsepower is likely to be a recipe bound to test Chevrolet's anti-flipping measures. All ZR1 buyers are subject to a 12-month no-sell clause that, if broken, could earn them a large profit — but also land them a 'no high-demand' cars list and void the warranty for the second owner. Even with these risks in place, it should be interesting to watch first owners testing the waters early on; when the first Z06s hit Bring a Trailer, for example, they were commanding as much as $100,000 over sticker, warranty or not. With the ZR1 starting at $174,995 and easily climbing past $200K with options, there's no telling how high collectors might push the market for the first 302.You Might Also Like

The 2025 Chevy Trailblazer FWD LT is powered by a turbocharged 1.2-liter three-cylinder that generates 137 horsepower and 162 pound-feet of torque and is mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission. The front-wheel-drive Trailblazer with the 1.2-liter three-cylinder engine returns an EPA-estimated 30 mpg city, 31 mpg highway, and 30 mpg combined. The LT trim comes standard with 17" gloss black aluminum wheels with a machined face, automatic LED headlights, automatic high beams, active noise cancellation, remote start, an 8-inch driver information display, an 11-inch infotainment touchscreen, wireless Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, Wi-Fi hotspot capability, tire pressure monitoring, lane keeping assist with lane departure warning, forward collision alert, and automatic emergency braking. The 2025 Chevrolet Trailblazer is a strong contender in the subcompact crossover segment thanks to its strong styling statement, roomy interior, impressive in-car tech, and excellent safety scores. While the LT trimmed model might not have a potent engine, its ride is comfortable, and the cabin is nicely accommodating for small families. Here is what drivers had to say after Sunday's Cup race at Sonoma Raceway: Shane van Gisbergen — Winner: 'This is amazing. This is why we go racing. I had a great time. It's awesome to have Red Bull on the car this weekend. Trackhouse Racing gave me a great Chevrolet again. What a great couple of weeks! Just to execute, make no mistakes, have great pit stops, great strategy and be able to hold them off there at the end – it's incredible. Chase (Briscoe) was driving really well. We had a lot of fun there. … On the last restart, I thought he (Briscoe) jumped a little bit. I was just trying to do what I could to get in position in Turn 2. That last one, I had to give him a bit of rub, but that was it. I'm just over the moon.' Dustin Long, Chase Briscoe — Finished 2nd: 'I don't know if I really saw everything (Shane van Gisbergen) had, truthfully. I felt like every time I would get close; he would just start driving back away. We were definitely the second-best car. I don't really know what more I need – maybe a little bit a grip, but even if I had a little more grip, I don't know if I'm going to be able to gain the speed that he had. But overall, great day for the Bass Pro Shops Toyota. This is by far my worst race track, so to run second to him, it definitely means a lot, so proud of the day.' We probably needed a little bit more to get Shane (Van Gisbergen) and Chase (Briscoe).' Michael McDowell — Finished 4th: 'We needed a little bit more pace out of our No. 71 Gainbridge Chevrolet. We had Project Zin on the car today, which was really cool. Qualifying really hurt us. I think we had decent pace, but we weren't fast enough to get around the good cars. We got off strategy there, and that didn't work. Thankfully, we caught a caution and we were able to tires on our Chevrolet and fight our way back. We salvaged a top-five day, but that's not what we need. We all know what we need to do, and we just weren't quite good enough to do it today. But this is part of the process. You have good weeks and bad weeks. Last weekend (at Chicago), we had a car that could win. Today, we were a little off. We'll keep building on it.' Christopher Bell — Finished 5th: 'We worked really good there as Toyota teammates and (Tyler Reddick) was just talking there about that last lap. I don't know what else he does, or I do – we are racing for a top-five, a position there, and I took the lane, and he chose not to ship me. I appreciated that. Tires versus no tires, offense versus defense there at the end of the last lap. Tough to race respectful whenever you are out like that, and I get it.' Tyler Reddick — Finished 6th: 'Today was a bit of a struggle honestly for the Chumba Casino Toyota. We just kind of went backwards – we slid back throughout the whole day and didn't really get stage points. We just kept fighting all day long. We put tires on there and was able to get through the chaos. We had a shot at fifth, just didn't want to use Christopher (Bell) up on that last corner, so we settled for sixth.' Ty Gibbs — Finished 7th: 'Overall, we had an okay day. Our SAIA No. 54 Camry – we needed to make some adjustments, and I need to do a better job. We had an okay day.' Kyle Busch — Finished 10th: 'We had to come from behind all day with our zone Chevrolet. On the initial start, our car had no drive or rear lateral any direction. After falling to the back, Randall (Burnett) and the guys made the call for major chassis adjustments to get the rears working. Those adjustments definitely helped, just wished I could have had that same adjustment again without giving up the track position. We kept working on the balance and in Stage 3, the car was the best it had been. It was simply avoiding wrecks at the end. Proud of the No. 8 team for pushing through and getting a top-10 finish.' Ty Dillon — Finished 17th: 'It was a rough couple of laps there. Alex (Bowman) and I race really clean. I told him – man, if it wasn't for the million dollars, I probably wouldn't have done that, but I had to. It's been an incredible run for this No. 10 Kaulig Racing Chevrolet team. We've worked so hard for this opportunity. I can't thank Matt Kaulig, Chris Rice, Ty Norris and Kaulig Racing for giving me the opportunity to shine again. I've worked so hard to get here and I'm just grateful. All of our partners that are on board, this has just been so much fun. We're going to give it all we've got at Dover; put pressure on the guys. I think you've seen through this that our team doesn't quit. I saw the No. 48 there at the end, and I knew it was our opportunity to race hard and go get him. Just proud of this team's effort.' Austin Dillon Finished 21st: 'It was a hard battle for the No. 3 Bass Pro Shops / Winchester Chevrolet team. We didn't really have a lot of speed this weekend, but we did make it better. We made some adjustments mid-race, and then those cautions came out. I had to go through the grass and lost around 15 spots. We got a couple back there at the end, but it's not what we wanted. We'll keep digging. We've had some good Chevrolet's the last couple of weekends. Unfortunately, this week, we weren't as good as we've been, but we'll get better.'

Shane van Gisbergen dominates on another road course, wins at Sonoma to extend streak
SONOMA, Calif. (AP) — Shane van Gisbergen extended his winning streak to two straight and three victories in the last five weeks with yet another dominating run on a road course. The New Zealander once again showed he's in a completely different class on road and street courses than his rivals as he led 97 of 110 laps Sunday to win from pole at Sonoma Raceway. All three of his wins this year have been from pole — which tied him with Jeff Gordon for a NASCAR record of three consecutive road course victories from the top starting spot. Gordon did it between the 1998 and 1999 seasons. Victory number four for van Gisbergen — who stunned NASCAR in 2023 when he popped into the debut Chicago street course race from Australian V8 Supercars and won — seemed a given before teams even arrived at the picturesque course in California wine country. His rivals have lamented that 'SVG' has a unique braking technique he mastered Down Under that none of them — all oval specialists — can ever learn. That win in Chicago two years ago led van Gisbergen to move to the United States for a career change driving stock cars for Trackhouse Racing. He and Ross Chastain have pumped energy into the team over this summer stretch with Chastain kicking it off with a Memorial Day weekend victory at the Coca-Cola 600. Van Gisbergen is the fastest driver to win four Cup Series races — in his 34th start — since Parnelli Jones in 1969. He's also the winningest driver born outside the United States. 'It means everything. That's why I race cars. I had an amazing time in Australia, and then to come here and the last couple weeks, or years, actually, has been a dream come true,' said van Gisbergen. 'I've really enjoyed my time in NASCAR. Thanks, everyone, for making me feel so welcome. I hope I'm here for a long time to come.' The Sonoma win made it four victories for Trackhouse in eight weeks. Van Gisbergen was second from pole in Saturday's Xfinity Series race. Although he dominated again Sunday, van Gisbergen pitted from the lead with 27 laps remaining and then had to drive his way back to the front. He got it with a pass of Michael McDowell with 19 laps remaining, but two late cautions made van Gisbergen win restarts to close out the victory in his Chevrolet. Chase Briscoe was second in a Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing. 'I never played basketball against Michael Jordan in his prime, but I feel like that's probably what it was like,' said Briscoe after not being able to pass van Gisbergen on the two late restarts — the last with five laps remaining. 'That guy is unbelievable on road courses. He's just so good. He's really raised the bar on this entire series.' Briscoe was followed by Chase Elliott in a Chevrolet for Hendrick Motorsports. McDowell in a Chevy for Spire Motorsports was fourth and Christopher Bell in a Toyota for Joe Gibbs Racing was fifth. In-Season challenge The mid-season tournament that pays $1 million to the winner is down to four drivers. Alex Bowman finished 25th and eliminated Ty Dillon, who finished 26th. Tyler Reddick (11th) knocked out Ryan Preece (16th), John Hunter Nemechek knocked out teammate Erik Jones as they finished 21st and 22nd, and Ty Gibbs, with a seventh-place finish, eliminated Zane Smith. Bowman, at eighth, is the highest-seeded driver still in the challenge, which debuted this year. Crew fight NASCAR officials had to separate the crews for Brad Keselowski and Ty Gibbs when members from the two teams scrapped on pit road during the race. Keselowski's crew confronted Gibbs' crew after Gibbs drove through their pit stall and narrowly missed hitting some of Keselowski's crew members already in place waiting for him. The confrontation appeared to be contained to pushing and shoving and NASCAR quickly stepped between them. Both crews were given an official warning for fighting but NASCAR said Gibbs did nothing wrong. Clean race — for awhile It took 61 of the 110 laps for the first caution for an on-track incident — when Ryan Blaney was knocked off the course and into the dirt early in the third stage. The contact from Chris Buescher left Blaney stranded, and right before NASCAR could throw the yellow, Bubba Wallace and Denny Hamlin both spun. The race ended with six cautions — two in the final stretch. Up next The Cup Series races Sunday at Dover Motor Speedway in Delaware, where Denny Hamlin won last year. ___
