Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Monday described Andhra Pradesh as the best and safest destination for investments, assuring full government support to industries.
Speaking at the A.P.–Singapore Business Forum Roadshow in Singapore, a lead-up to the Partnership Summit in Visakhapatnam this November, Mr. Naidu highlighted vast investment potential in aerospace, defence, agri-tech, semiconductors, food processing, logistics, biotech, tourism, and other sectors. He said Andhra Pradesh offers both opportunity and security for investors, supported by industry-friendly policies under the Swarna Andhra 2047 Vision. Recalling Singapore's earlier role in drafting the Amaravati master plan, he said the present government is keen to revive ties and invited Singapore firms to collaborate with A.P. Mr. Naidu said the State was shifting to green energy, developing logistics corridors in Amaravati, Visakhapatnam, and Tirupati, and strengthening its skilled workforce. He also noted the presence of six operational ports and four more under construction, and the advantage of three major industrial corridors.
Andhra Pradesh is building a Quantum Valley in Amaravati, integrating data through a data lake, and prioritising Artificial Intelligence adoption, he added. The State's WhatsApp governance model has also emerged as a trendsetter. Ministers Nara Lokesh, P. Narayana and T.G. Bharat were present.

North Andhra leaders urge Chief Minister to fast-track Makavarapalem, Paderu medical colleges

Leaders from North Andhra have urged Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to back their stated commitment to the region's development with concrete action. The Forum for Development of North Andhra (FDNA) has expressed concern over the abrupt halting of construction work at the Government Medical College in Makavarapalem, which had been progressing well during the YSRCP regime. Similarly, the Paderu Medical College project is moving at a sluggish pace, with key infrastructure yet to be completed. 'In Paderu, three slabs have already been laid and major civil works were completed under the previous government. However, we were surprised to see construction equipment being shifted to Amaravati during a recent site visit,' said A. Aja Sarma, FDNA general secretary. Mr. Sarma said the forum had written to the Chief Minister on July 8, requesting immediate resumption of work. He emphasised that improved access to medical education is crucial for the backward North Andhra region, which has long been neglected by successive governments. Due to the shortage of medical seats, many students from the State are forced to pursue studies in countries like China, Ukraine, and several African nations. 'Setting up and completing government medical colleges is not just a policy decision — it's a necessity,' he said. At Paderu, only 50 of the sanctioned 100 seats were filled in the first batch due to poor infrastructure. With hostels yet to be completed, accommodation for a second batch of students will be a challenge. Of the required 180 staff members, only 79 have been appointed so far, and many posts are being filled on a temporary basis. Former professor at the Centre for Economic and Social Sciences (CESS), C. Ramachandraiah, criticised Mr. Naidu's continued focus on Amaravati at the cost of balanced regional development.

Singapore reaffirms commitment to Amaravati and A.P. development; Naidu hails move

In a significant announcement during Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu's official visit to Singapore, the country's Minister for Manpower and Science & Technology, Tan See Leng, reaffirmed Singapore's readiness to partner with the Government of Andhra Pradesh in the State's development, particularly in building Amaravati and driving economic collaboration across multiple sectors. Mr. Tan See Leng made the announcement via his official social media account, expressing Singapore's interest in working closely with Andhra Pradesh on key projects. He highlighted the State's potential in areas like agriculture, food processing, renewable energy, port development, digital technologies, and skill development. He also noted that Singaporean companies such as Food Empire and EverVolt are already looking to expand their operations in Andhra Pradesh, citing the State's rapid growth and investor-friendly climate. Master plan In his statement on Tuesday, Mr. Tan See Leng referenced the earlier collaboration between Singapore and Andhra Pradesh during Mr. Naidu's 2014–2019 term, particularly in shaping Amaravati's master plan. He recalled Singapore's involvement in infrastructure design and development assistance, as well as the successful participation of Singaporean firms through the Swiss Challenge method in bids for the Amaravati Start-up Area project. However, the Minister also pointed out that after the change in administration in 2019, this collaboration came to a halt. The Singapore consortium eventually withdrew from the Amaravati project due to the lack of support from the previous State government. With the renewed leadership under Mr. Naidu, the Minister expressed hope for revitalised cooperation and confirmed Singapore's willingness to offer technical expertise and collaborate with global institutions like the World Bank on Andhra Pradesh's urban and economic development strategies. The Chief Minister, in response, extended heartfelt thanks to Mr. Tan See Leng and the Government of Singapore on behalf of the people of Andhra Pradesh. Taking to social media, Mr. Naidu expressed his appreciation for Singapore's continued trust and partnership, calling it a positive and meaningful relationship that has played a vital role in Andhra Pradesh's growth journey. He welcomed Singapore's willingness to re-engage and emphasised that the discussions held during his visit paved the way for deeper collaboration in sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, renewable energy, digital innovation, and skill development. 'Inspiration for A.P.' Highlighting the strong bond dating back to the 1990s, the Chief Minister stated that Singapore's development policies have long served as an inspiration for Andhra Pradesh. He acknowledged the difficulties that emerged in the partnership due to past political shifts, but affirmed that with a clear public mandate and a renewed vision for growth, his government is committed to comprehensive development across the State. Mr. Naidu reiterated that the new coalition government is determined to steer Andhra Pradesh towards its 'Swarnandhra 2047' vision, an inclusive and progressive roadmap for economic and social transformation. He emphasised that with Singapore's cooperation, the State will be better positioned to deliver on public aspirations and build world-class infrastructure and urban ecosystems. Calling for mutual respect and collaboration, the Chief Minister said that Andhra Pradesh is ready to work hand-in-hand with Singapore across multiple sectors to bring about impactful, long-term development for the people of the State.

Visakhapatnam to emerge as Andhra Pradesh's growth engine: CM Chandrababu

As part of his ongoing visit to Singapore on Tuesday (July 29, 2025), Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu held meetings with representatives from major global firms—Keppel Corporation, GIC (Government of Singapore Investment Corporation), and Wilmar International—seeking strategic partnerships to transform Andhra Pradesh, particularly Visakhapatnam, into a dynamic hub for growth and innovation. In a key interaction, the Chief Minister met Lim Yeang Yeow, Executive Director of KeppelCorporation, a Singapore-based conglomerate known for its expertise in urban development, infrastructure, and commercial real estate. The duo discussed Keppel's prior engagement in Amaravati's development and explored renewed opportunities for collaboration. Mr. Naidu invited Keppel to take part in developing projects across IT, commerce, and housing sectors in Visakhapatnam, which he envisions as the future growth engine of Andhra Pradesh. Later, Mr. Naidu held talks with Bryan Yeo, Chief Investment Officer of GIC, one of Singapore's largest sovereign wealth funds. The discussion focused on long-term partnerships and stable investments in the state, particularly in real estate, industrial development, urban infrastructure, healthcare, education, and civic amenities. The Chief Minister assured GIC that Andhra Pradesh would provide a supportive ecosystem for sustainable investments in these critical sectors and emphasized the vast potential the state holds. In a separate meeting, Mr. Naidu met Kuok Khoon Hong, Chairman and CEO of Wilmar International, a global agri-business giant. The two leaders explored investment opportunities in food processing, edible oils, and agri-infrastructure. Mr. Naidu proposed that Wilmar can collaborate with the state to build a value-based agricultural market that directly benefits farmers and boosts the agro-economy.
