The shocking moment came after Hamilton blamed himself for a 'terrible' performance at the Spanish Grand Prix.

The Ferrari star finished sixth in Barcelona, with Oscar Piastri coming first, and remains winless for his new side.
After the race, Hamilton was interviewed by Sky Sports presenter Rachel Brookes.
And the seven-time world champion appeared close to tears when asked if there was 'something wrong' with Ferrari's car.
He said: 'Not particularly, it was not a great day. The strategy was good, the team did a great job. That's it.'
Noting Hamilton's downcast mood, Brookes replied: 'I hate seeing you in this mood.'
But the Brit snapped back with watery eyes: 'Well what do you want me to say? I had a really bad day and I've got nothing to say.
'It was a difficult day, I've got nothing else to add to it. There's no point explaining it.
'It's not your fault, I've just not got anything to say. I'm sure (Ferrari) won't (be able to find a fix), the answer is probably just me.'
However, Hamilton has now apologised to Brookes for his tense replies in the interview.
Her fellow Sky Sports star David Croft revealed all on The Fast and The Curious podcast.
He said: 'Lewis was really down on himself, and no one likes to see that because at the end of the day, whether you're a fan or not, Lewis Hamilton is the greatest racing driver we've ever seen.
'Statistically, he is the greatest. I think he's the greatest even without the stats.
'He wears his heart on his sleeve and should be applauded for that because it does a lot of good when he wears his heart on his sleeve.
'He did apologise to Rachel Brookes for being so down in the dumps off camera. He said, 'I'm really sorry about that, I'm just so down'.
'And that just shows the extent that he really was down. He's not putting this on for the cameras, trust me.
'And once again, it's right after the race. He's not had time for a debrief. He's not had time to have a chat with his race engineer.
'So he probably didn't know the extent of whatever damage the car had at the time he spoke to Rachel.
'And he probably didn't realise that it was the car that was hindering him more so than his driving in that one.
'And look, when you're in a Ferrari and you're overtaken by Nico Hulkenberg, albeit in a Ferrari-powered Sauber, you're going to question, 'Is it me really? Am I doing something wrong here?'
'Because it just didn't go for him really from the outset.'

‘You don't have too many positive things to say' – Lewis Hamilton in tense exchange with Martin Brundle over F1 photo
LEWIS HAMILTON was involved in an awkward exchange with Sky Sports F1 pundit Martin Brundle ahead of the Silverstone Grand Prix. Hamilton is looking to continue a run of scoring a podium at Silverstone in every race since 2014, including eight wins, one P2 and two P3 finishes. 4 4 But he might have his work cut out for him after failing to land a podium all year since joining Ferrari, with his best feature race result being P4 twice. One of the most recognised voices among an ocean of opinions about the seven-time Formula One world champion is former racer Martin Brundle, who now lends his voice to Sky Sports for analysis. While Brundle started the season backing Hamilton to win a record eighth world title, he later admitted it was "very hard" to watch post-race interviews considering his pace struggles. And Hamilton, 40, took the chance to cheekily call out some of Brundle's past comments, ironically as he was lavishing praise on the Brit's move to Ferrari. Brundle, 66, was chatting to Hamilton on the track at Silverstone about his internet-breaking photo at Maranello, when he said: "That image of you in the black coat in the Schumacher square at Ferrari… 'One of the most iconic photographs ever in F1 and what a shot that was." Hamilton then interrupted Brundle, commenting: "Thanks man, that means a lot coming from you, you don't have too many positive things to say always." The interaction went viral on social media, with one fan writing: "The way i laughed when Lewis said that." A second said: "He stood on business." Lewis Hamilton gives lucky F1 rival a lift home on his private jet A third added: "That took me out!" Another said: "Lewis cooked!!!" On Friday Hamilton gave Brundle even more reason to praise him after topping Free Practice One before also lapping P3 in Free Practice Two later on. Lewis Hamilton's Silverstone record Lewis Hamilton holds the F1 record for the most top three finishes at a single circuit at Silverstone, with 15 podiums to his name including eight wins after his 2024 victory. Here's a look at his year-by-year run: McLaren, 2007 - P3 McLaren, 2008 - P1 McLaren, 2009 - P16 McLaren, 2010 - P2 McLaren, 2011 - P4 McLaren, 2012 - P8 Mercedes, 2013 - P4 Mercedes, 2014 - P1 Mercedes, 2015 - P1 Mercedes, 2016 - P1 Mercedes, 2017 - P1 Mercedes, 2018 - P2 Mercedes, 2019 - P1 Mercedes, 2020 - P1 Mercedes, 2021 - P1 Mercedes, 2022 - P3 Mercedes, 2023 - P3 Mercedes, 2024 - P1 Ferrari, 2025 - P? McLaren 's Lando Norris - eyeing a home race win for the first time in his career - topped FP2 while Hamilton's Ferrari team-mate Charles Leclerc clocked in the second fastest time. Despite Hamilton's cheeky dig, the pair do seem to be on good terms after commentator David Croft revealed Hamilton advised the producers of F1: The Movie to add he and Brundle into the film for authenticity. Croft said: "He [Hamilton] said, 'If you want to make it authentic commentary, you need Martin and Crofty'. "I really appreciated that." The British Grand Prix starts at 3pm on Sunday, while qualifying for the race commences at 2pm on Saturday. 4

Arsenal Files: Still no Benjamin Sesko transfer offer as Gunners wait for nervous Leipzig to act
THERE is a growing sense of fear and anxiety at the Red Bull Arena around the future of Benjamin Sesko. RB Leipzig are in desperate need to sell players to rebuild their squad after missing out on Champions League football last season. 4 4 In previous years, they have sold big and recruited wisely, earning the tag as one of the best self-sustaining clubs in Europe. Last summer, they raked in around £85m from Dani Olmo and Mohamed Sinakan. The year before, a whopping total of around £188m for Christopher Nkunku, Dominik Szoboszlai and Josko Gvardiol. And in 2021, they managed to convince Bayern Munich to fork out a record-breaking £21m to lure manager Julian Nagelsmann away. Leipzig need to cut their wage bill by at least 20 per cent to balance the books, and need funds to provide a competitive group of players for new manager Ole Werner. They had hoped that winger Xavi Simons – who they signed for a club record £70m including add-ons in January before asking to leave this summer – could generate a good return, but his recent form has not turned heads. In this window then, Leipzig have accepted that Sesko, 22, will be the man to fill up their kitty. The issue is that Arsenal have still not made a bid – and that is seriously worrying the German club. SunSport understands that, as it stands, negotiations over a fee that both clubs are happy to shake hands on are at a stalemate. And there are no signs of progressing, despite Arsenal and boss Mikel Arteta 's well-documented admiration of the young Slovenian. 4 They have also already agreed on personal terms with the player. Arsenal consider around £60m a fair price. Leipzig would prefer upwards of £70m, but the Gunners are ready to dig their heels in and hold out, playing hardball for their man. Arsenal know that Leipzig are getting desperate, in a weak negotiating position financially, and they are confident they represent Sesko's best chance of a move this summer with other suitors, for now, looking elsewhere for a No.9. Sesko's agent Elvis Basanovic has so far been reluctant to pressure Leipzig into a sale. There are frustrations that the 'gentleman's agreement' the the striker could leave for £60m is in danger of being broken. But Sesko's entourage know relations need to be kept sweet should his player stay in Germany, and has been keeping a lower profile than usual. Inside Arsenal's frustrating striker transfer saga By Jordan Davies ARSENAL'S never-ending hunt for a world-class striker is in turmoil as deals for Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres stall. The Gunners were confident of doing their business quickly this summer after months of preparation by boss Mikel Arteta and new sporting director Andrea Berta. But inflated asking prices and broken gentlemen's agreements have derailed those plans and left Arsenal frustrated. Sesko believed he would be allowed to leave RB Leipzig for around £60million, while SunSport understands Gyokeres was told £59m would be enough to seal his own exit. But those price-tags have gone up, leaving Arsenal debating whether they represent value for money. While the players' camps are also growing restless, knowing the Gunners can only sign one of them. So what next? Will Arsenal keep waiting in the hope of fees eventually going down? Or turn to other targets, like Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike? Whatever they decide, with pre-season looming and the fixtures already out, Arteta will be desperate for them to move quickly to avoid another nearly season. The hope for Arsenal is that, in the coming weeks, Leipzig lose patience and lower their asking price, in need of the funds as soon as possible to get their own deals over the line. But SunSport understands they have still not yet highlighted a preferred Sesko replacement. There is, however, a growing unrest within the Leipzig fanbase which could also force the club's hand in negotiations. There are concerns Sesko will not react well to not getting his move, especially given their absence from the Champions League. Arteta and sporting director Andrea Berta will not wait around forever though. The ideally want a striker through the door before their pre-season tour of Singapore and Hong Kong on July 19. And they have maintained an interest in Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres and Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike should the Sesko move collapse. In short, it looks a mess from the outside, but Arsenal remain calm over their approach. 4 HEINZE STRAIGHT IN FORMER Manchester United and Real Madrid defender Gabriel Heinze will join Mikel Arteta's coaching staff at Arsenal. The Argentine will fill in after the recent departure of assistant Carlos Cuesta, who became Parma's new head coach. And SunSport understands that Heinze is set to get straight to work by joining the squad on their warm-weather trip to Spain next week ahead of their pre-season two-week tour of Asia from July 19. Arteta is keen to integrate Heinze, 47, with the players quickly to develop lasting relationships, as well as helping his new man get to grips with the demands of supporting a Premier League squad. Argentine coach Heinze has spent most of his managerial career in his home nation, as well as a short stint in the MLS with Atlanta United.
