Meanwhile, in another decision, the Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has also given its nod to the construction of the four-lane Paramakudi-Ramanathapuram Section of National Highway (NH) -87 in Tamil Nadu at a cost of Rs 1,853 crore.
Briefing media after the meeting of the Union cabinet, Information & Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, 'The National Sports Policy 2025 aims to set India on a transformative path toward becoming a leading sporting nation globally, preferably the fifth powerhouse, while creating healthier, more engaged and empowered citizens.'

With unemployment a big issue among India's youth, the government is betting that this subsidy will get private businesses to step up recruitment. But it's unclear if this alone will suffice. In many cases, recruiters have been going slow because they don't see sufficient scope for business expansion, with profit growth in focus instead. Many ELI applicants are likely to be companies that would have hired anyway. But then, we won't know if this idea works till it is tested out.

Cabinet nod to upgrade TN highway
New Delhi: The Union Cabinet has given its nod for the construction of a 4-lane Paramakudi-Ramanathapuram section of the national highway 87 in Tamil Nadu, worth Rs 1,853 crore. The project aims to upgrade approximately 46.7 km of NH-87 from Paramakudi to Ramanathapuram to a 4-lane configuration, which will decongest the existing corridor, improve safety, and cater to the mobility needs of rapidly growing towns. "The project will not only enhance connectivity between major religious and economic centers but also boost tourism to Rameshwaram and Dhanushkodi, opening new avenues for trade and industrial development,' Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Ashwini Vaishnaw said, briefing newsmen.
