Two-year-old boy found dead on camping holiday after disappearing from caravan
A two-year-old boy who went missing from a caravan during a family camping trip for Father's Day has tragically been found dead.
The toddler, who had been staying in a trailer with his family, is believed to have left their mobile home without anyone noticing.
Early on Saturday his family reported him missing while they were camping in the Manorlands area of Utah, the Summit County Sheriff's Office said.
A passer-by reportedly found the boy unresponsive in a drainage or runoff ditch, around one mile downstream from where he had been camping with his family, at around 11.15am.
The Sheriff's Office reported that the two-year-old was rushed to a hospital in Wyoming before being moved to a Salt Lake City hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
An investigation has been launched and, as reported by the Mirror, authorities are looking into when the boy was last seen alive. It is thought to have been a "tragic accident", officials have said.
The Sheriff's spokesperson, Skyler Talbot, told local news outlets: "We are fairly early in the investigation. However, at this time, there's nothing to indicate this is more than a tragic accident.
"We are going to be working with the Utah Office of the Medical Examiner, and we hope to have some preliminary results from them as to the cause and manner of death, hopefully in the coming days."

It is unclear exactly how far away it was from their campsite to the water where the boy was found, but Talbot said it was within eyesight and walking distance.
The spokesperson said: "It's certainly not lost on us that this is Father's Day. This is incredibly tragic. There's a mother who's lost her son; there's a father who's lost his son; and there's a grieving family.
"We are going to investigate this fully, but right now, our thoughts are with the family during this time."

Emily Yao was out with two friends in Edinburgh on Tuesday night when two youths raced towards them on e-scooters before hurling vile racist abuse at them - with police now investigating. A group of youths have been filmed "hurling" racist abuse at a group of women near the University of Edinburgh prompting cops to launch a probe. Emily Yao was unlocking her bike with her two friends at Potterow at around 10pm on July 1, when two young boys on e-scooters raced towards them. Emily, who has lived in the capital since the pandemic and was born in China, claimed they hurled abuse at the trio, including calling them 'Chinese f*****s'. During the incident she attempted to film the two youths, who she believed are around 11-years-old, on her phone with local cops now probing the incident. Speaking to Edinburgh Live, Emily said: "Suddenly we heard a kind of howling sound, like an animal, from behind. "We saw someone racing towards us on a scooter, and just as he was about to hit us he swirled around. We were a little bit shocked, and then, he and a mate of him and just started to say things like Chinese f*****s, f*** off. "I just took out my phone and started filming them and trying to get a clear shot of their face, but I couldn't quite get them. I was trying to get them to come back and to, I asked them, can you repeat what you just said to me on tape? She continued: "He asked me 'do you feel threatened?' so I asked him 'do you think I should be? Do you want me to feel threatened? "The whole encounter was just so sinister. I was kind of embarrassed that I was frightened by what looks like an 11 or 12-year-old. "I think the thing that makes it a bit different is that they seem to only target Asian women. The whole thing reminded me of Adolescence, that Netflix show, especially when he asked me the question, do you feel threatened? "It just took me right back to the show where the boy asked the psychologist if he scared her. "It's really weird, and the fact that they are targeting women. Paddleboard tragedy teen's school to celebrate his life on last day of term
Auchmuty High School has said the day will allow students and staff to "share stories, laugh, cry and support each other". The school attended by a Scots teenager who tragically drowned while paddleboarding is to honour him on the last day of term. Alexander McNab, 15, was reported missing from the water at Lochore Meadows in Fife on Saturday, June 28. A major search effort began and tragically his body was recovered on Sunday afternoon at around 1.20pm. He was a pupil at Auchmuty High School in Glenrothes, which has announced it will use the day to remember him as the school year ends on Thursday, July 3. Students and staff have been invited to wear pink to celebrate his life, with a book of remembrance set up for anybody from the school community to leave a tribute. A post on social media said the day will include opportunities for people to "remember Alex, share stories, laugh, cry and support each other". It added: "Our thoughts, prayers and support remain with his family." On Monday, Alexander's family shared a statement via Police Scotland in memory of their "much-loved son". In it, they said: ' Alexander was much loved, caring, adventurous, bold, hard-working, ambitious and always looking out and caring for others. 'He is a much-loved son, brother, grandson, cousin, friend and boyfriend and a big part of his local community. 'Alexander will be forever missed by those that knew him and loved him. Detective Sergeant Duncan Thompson said: 'Our thoughts are very much with Alexander's family at this very distressing time and we have specialist officers supporting them.' A major search was launched to find the schoolboy at around 5.25pm on Saturday after emergency crews received a report of concern for a boy who had been out on the water. Police Scotland, the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service, the Scottish Ambulance Service and HM Coastguard were in attendance to carry out extensive searches. Since the tragic news of his death broke, a fundraising page has been set up to raise funds for his mum to help with funeral costs. It has since raised over £24,000 as of July 2.

Heartbroken family of man who drowned in rock pool issue warning for beachgoers
Łukasz Kasperczyk was just 32 years-old when he drowned at Dunbar Harbour. He was enjoying a day out with his friends before events took a tragic turn. The family of a young man who tragically drowned in a rock pool at a Scots beach have issued a warning to beachgoers as they mark eight years since his death. Łukasz Kasperczyk was just 32 years-old when he died at Dunbar Harbour in a catastrophic accident on June 30, 2017. The fisherman originally from Poland was enjoying a day out with friends at Dunbar Harbour when he stumbled over some rocks smashing his head and drowning in a small pool of water. Sadly he was pronounced dead at the scene leaving behind his girlfriend, son, sister, dad and five nieces. His niece, Ewelina Wybraniec who was just 16 when the tragedy occurred has spoken out as summer approaches and people flock to seasides across Scotland. The now 24-year-old told Edinburgh Live: "He was an amazing guy and he was always there for my mum. We were so close - he was the only man in my life. "A group of friends had organised a fishing trip at Dunbar harbour. It was around 4pm and my uncle was pronounced dead at 5.30pm. "He left the car while they were unpacking things because he wanted to look at the rocks. They don't know what happened, there was nobody there. "Apparently he fainted because my uncle fell straight onto his face - his cause of death was drowning." "He fell face first in a small body of water. The puddles have such a small amount of water so it's really bizarre thinking about how he drowned in that. It was a horrible accident, it took five minutes and he was gone." "He loved the outdoors and fishing, so he would have known it was dangerous. I just don't understand why he would even attempt to climb the rocks. "It's so important to think about the safety of being near the water. Nobody realises how dangerous it is out there on the rocks, one wrong move and something drastic can happen. Water Safety Scotland revealed last month that men, particularly those aged 20 to 29, are at a higher risk of drowning compared to other groups. According to fresh data from the Water IncidentDatabase (WAID), men accounted for 82 per cent of all accidental water-related deaths in Scotland in 2024. Community Safety Minister Siobhain Brown said: 'My thoughts and sympathies are with the families and friends who have lost a loved one in a drowning accident. "I encourage everyone to protect themselves and others when in and around the water and to be aware that water temperature can vary drastically, as can currents and tides. "It's well worth learning the Water Safety Code and using the resources of Water Safety Scotland so people can stay safe and prevent accidents in our waters.
