Chicago Sky's iconic player Angel Reese creates WNBA history with new franchise milestone
On Monday, the Chicago Sky competed against the Minnesota Lynx in the WNBA. Led by Ariel Atkins, the Sky had scored 87-81 during the first half. The fans and the media were excited to see the Chicago Sky score remarkably during the initial period.
Their opening star, Ariel Atkins, scored 27 points, three rebounds, and one assist. The game saw some rough patches with their key player being injured in the leg. However, with Angel Reese taking the court, she managed to score some points for the team. The Chicago Sky gave their best, but ultimately fell short and lost the game. At last, the Lynx outscored the Sky and won 91-78 in the game.
Angel Reese becomes fifth fastest player reaching career high points
After their key player, Ariel Atkins, severely injured her leg, the Sky called for help.
Then came the Sky's iconic player, Angel Reese. The 6-foot-3 forward made a mind-blowing appearance. She scored 22 points, 10 rebounds, and 3 assists, making it her ninth double-double in a row. She became the fifth fastest player to have achieved 750 career high points in the franchise's history. She indeed created history in just 55 games at the age of 23.
It was a tough night for the Chicago Sky. The game hit differently for the Minnesota Lynx.
The entire team had gone through a rough night after Ariel Atkins' leg injury. But things weren't so bad for Angel Reese. She saw an opportunity and quickly grabbed it without any prior discussion, which turned out positively for her. Although her team lost the game, she scored some noteworthy points. Angel Reese won, but all in vain as she couldn't help her team win the match against the Lynx.
The game proved to be fruitful for the Sky star, Angel Reese, alone. The Minnesota Lynx outscored the Chicago Sky by 15 points in the second half of the game. The Lynx's star player, Napheesa Collier, led the team and scored 29 points, three rebounds, and five assists. The game night was like a rollercoaster ride for the Sky as they saw a series of ups and downs in the game. The Sky will, however, regroup and compete with the Atlanta Dream on Wednesday.
Meanwhile, Angel Reese is going to be the only player from the Chicago Sky who will be joining the Indianapolis in the WNBA ALL-Star Game, 2025.

Tommy Mellott set to follow Julian Edelman's footsteps as Tom Brady backs Raiders' next QB-to-WR project
Tommy Mellott steps into Tom Brady's Edelman-inspired blueprint (Image via: Getty Images) Julian Edelman's journey from a college quarterback to Super Bowl MVP is the kind of NFL transformation legends are built on. Nearly two decades later, Tom Brady and the Las Vegas Raiders appear ready to recreate that success story with rookie Tommy Mellott now stepping into the spotlight as their next potential quarterback-to-receiver conversion project. Tom Brady 's Edelman blueprint reimagined in Las Vegas Julian Edelman's NFL journey began with a mistake, a botched hook route during OTAs that drew Tom Brady's wrath. But instead of folding under pressure, Edelman used the moment to fuel his relentless development as a slot receiver. Fast forward, he became Brady's most trusted target, particularly in pressure-packed playoff moments. That exact transformation could now inspire the Raiders' approach with Mellott. Brady, now part-owner of the franchise, saw firsthand how Edelman turned himself into a reliable wideout. And with the Raiders' selection of dual-threat Montana State quarterback Tommy Mellott—who lacks the NFL arm but has the speed, vision, and grit—the writing is on the wall: a position switch is underway. Tom Brady & The Las Vegas Raiders LOVED Tommy Mellott In The NFL DRAFT... Lance Zierlein pegged Mellott as a 'QB-to-WR' project with serious potential. Mellott doesn't just have impressive athleticism; he has the mental toughness and football IQ that make such transitions work. In 2024, he racked up 2,783 passing yards, 31 touchdowns, and over 1,000 rushing yards—proof he can make plays in multiple ways. Raiders' offseason moves signal trust in Mellott's shift The Raiders' decision to draft another quarterback, NDSU's Cam Miller, immediately after selecting Mellott points to a clear strategy: Miller is QB3, Mellott is a receiver in the making. Mellott has already embraced that challenge, highlighting his past experience playing multiple roles, including wide receiver and special teams during his time at Montana State. Meanwhile, the Raiders recently waived second-year quarterback Carter Bradley, further thinning their QB room and solidifying the roles heading into camp. With Geno Smith as the starter, Aidan O'Connell as the backup, and Miller as the developmental arm, Mellott's path to a WR spot looks open. Also Read: NFL QB rankings 2025: Jalen Hurts falls to No. 9, Emmanuel Acho slams list as 'Asinine' If Mellott continues his development and builds trust with his quarterbacks the way Edelman did, the Raiders may have a clutch pass-catcher on their hands. The transformation won't be easy, but with Brady's backing and a proven template in place, Tommy Mellott could be the next great quarterback-turned-receiver story the NFL needs. IND vs ENG: Former England captain lashes out at Ben Stokes' Bazballers- 'It's a members' club'
England's captain Ben Stokes gestures during the fifth day of the third cricket test match between England and India at Lord's cricket ground in London, Monday, July 14, 2025. (AP Photo/Richard Pelham) Former England captain Geoffrey Boycott has slammed Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum for their rigid approach in continuing with Zak Crawley , despite the opener's struggles. Boycott said he is amazed by the fact that the England cricket management is not looking for another opener. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. SUBSCRIBE NOW! "People ask me: 'Haven't we got another opener in county cricket?' I say: 'I don't think the hierarchy are looking.' It's a members' club and if you are in it… you can't get out," Boycott wrote in his column for The Telegraph. "Zak Crawley is a lucky lad because there is an old saying in cricket: 'Never change a winning team.' "I don't believe that, but some do, and because they won, England will be tempted to pick the same players. I believe in another saying: 'When you are winning, that is when you should try to improve your team.'" 'Pretty cooked': Ben Stokes after leading England to Epic Lord's triumph The 27-year-old has already played 57 Tests for England and is averaging 30.89. "How many more chances is Crawley going to get? He has learned nothing in his 57 Tests," he said. "A waft in the first innings, caught behind, and a front-foot drive in the second innings to a wide sucker ball, caught at gully. Poll Should England consider replacing Zak Crawley as opener? Yes, he needs to be replaced No, he deserves more chances Only if there are better options available Unsure about his performance "It was just a replay of too many of his dismissals. Time to go. Five hundreds and an average of 31 is not good enough." Boycott said the Australian troika of Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood will be waiting for Crawley to play in the Ashes, and it is not a good sign for the England team. "Most opposition bowlers can't wait to get their sweaters off to bowl at him. Can you imagine what the Australian seamers are thinking about this winter's Ashes series? "If Starc doesn't get you, Hazlewood and Cummins will." Catch Rani Rampal's inspiring story on Game On, Episode 4. Watch Here!
