Internet loses it over man's avocado hack
Mikey, from Cape Town, took to TikTok to share the way he has been cutting avocados for 'as long as he can remember,' he told news.com.au.
While most people cut an avocado down the middle and pull it apart so that both sides expose the flesh and the pit, that is not how Mikey does it.
Instead, he cuts off the top to reduce the amount of flesh exposed and keep it from browning. He then dips his knife into the avo to take what he needs.
'And you just drop it right on a little plate [after you're done],' he said.
The clip has been viewed more than 4.7 million times and has garnered more than 5000 comments.
Social media users were in a frenzy over the clip.
'As someone who doesn't want the whole avocado on my toast, this is amazing,' one person commented.
Another added: 'No one has EVER opened an avocado like that.'
One simply wrote: 'That's actually really smart.'
'This guy is using avocados like it's truffle butter,' one added.
Someone else weighed in: 'I actually think this is genius !!!! Not everyone eats avocado the same way … thanks for the tip!'
Others couldn't fathom not eating an entire avocado in one go.
'Not eating a full avocado with your toast is crazy work,' one said.
Another added: 'What's leftover avocado?'
'1. We don't have leftover avocado in my house. 2. WHY HAS NO ONE THOUGHT OF THIS?? 3. RIGHT. Because no one else has leftover avocado either,' one social media user summarised.
Mikey told news.com.au that he was currently on holiday in New York while his wife is working in the city, with the pair staying with a friend.
'And, I was cutting some avo to put on some sourdough bread and her friend said, 'oh my goodness, I've never seen someone cut an avo like that',' he said.
'I explained to her [it was to stop it browning]. She said that was amazing and told me to do a little video, post it on TikTok and see what happens.
'And the rest is history.'

Popular Perth ribs joint launches viral Dubai choc desserts
A Perth restaurant, known for its American-style barbecue ribs, is causing a stir among the food community following the launch of its viral Dubai chocolate-inspired desserts. The head chef at Ribs Lane was inspired by the viral Dubai chocolate taking social media feeds by storm to create rich, over-the-top treats for dessert lovers wanting in on the global obsession. The Dubai chocolate sweet treat craze recently popped off on TikTok thanks to influencers promoting Dubai chocolate — a chocolate bar containing a filling made with kadayif and pistachio — created by Emirati Fix Dessert Chocolatier in Dubai. Head chef Nicka Isabella said the team saw the trend explode overseas and wanted to create something that would give Perth a taste of the hype. 'It's not just about going viral. These desserts taste as good as they look. Perth deserves its own over-the-top dessert experience, and this is it,' she said. The desserts are unapologetically extra. Credit: Jay Turks Each dessert features house-made elements and Ribs Lane's signature drizzle, crafted to mimic the iconic Dubai-style presentations but with a Ribs Lane twist. 'These desserts are unapologetically extra and that's exactly what we wanted,' Nicka said. 'We've developed our own special recipe and flavour profile that's got people returning again and again. They are indulgent, fun, and impossible to ignore - both on the table and on social media.' People with a sweet tooth can indulge in viral Dubai chocolate loukamades ($17), waffles ($17) and cups ($15). The Ribs Lane Subiaco location will also offer a dessert pizza ($23).

'Off to get one tomorrow morning': Social media goes crazy for $16 Kmart bathroom storage hack
A social media design expert has revealed how a simple $16 item from Kmart can maximise storage space in your bathroom. Dina Santos posted the video after she bought an 8 litre storage container from the outlet, which Kmart's website describes as "a hygienic and user-friendly solution for everyday waste disposal.' But Ms Santos has revealed that she uses the bin to store toilet rolls, telling her followers that it can also double up as a waste bin or a storage facility for laundry detergent. Commenters have taken to Instagram and TikTok to praise the lifestyle hack. One commentator announced: "Thank you I'm off to get one tomorrow morning." "I bought this 2 hours ago," someone else revealed. Another added, 'I've been eyeing this off! Thanks for sharing.' But others have pointed out that there is an issue with the product, with some saying it could be mistaken for a bin. 'It's all good fun until a guest throws their wrapped-up old pad into the bin without realising,' one shopper remarked. Someone else agreed, 'I thought the same thing TBH'. 'The only time the kids would use the bin as a bin is if I didn't use it as a bin,' a different user joked. 'Do you have problems with guests using it as a bin?' a follower asked, to which Dina replied, 'Not at all, I have a cute small bin on the other side'. One user mocked the video's premise, writing, "Is that a hack though? Putting things inside a container...?" A trawl of the Brisbane based designer reveals that it isn't just Kmart products she's raving about, but also outfits from discount retailer Target.

Sophie Cachia and Madison Prespakis' bold property move
Melbourne entrepreneur, author and influencer Sophie Cachia has listed her fully renovated Tullamarine home as she prepares to buy with AFLW star Madison Prespakis. Cachia, who has a combined social media following of more than 300,000 across Instagram and TikTok, is known for her bold personal style, parenting content and outspoken takes on relationships and identity. Her partner, Madison Prespakis, is a midfielder for Essendon in the AFLW and a former Carlton star who won the league's Best and Fairest in 2020 aged 19. RELATED: Landmark 139yo Melbourne church could fetch $5.5m Luxury home smashes Plenty record 'Small' Melbourne house scores $5m deal Ms Cachia, who co-parents three children, said the home had been the perfect base during a period of growth in both her personal and professional life — but the time was right to move on. 'Maddy and I will definitely be buying together, it's not about proving anything to anyone else, we're just really aligned in what we want,' she said. 'Whether it's near family or by the beach, as long as we're together, that's all that really matters.' Her four-bedroom home, which features a monochrome palette, premium appliances and a designer double ensuite, was purchased in 2021 and completely overhauled under Cachia's direction and has $900,000-$990,000 price hopes. Perth-based interior stylist and director of 13 Interiors Kelly Donougher, helped Ms Cachia design the home with a black-and-white aesthetic. 'I wasn't even really looking to buy, I just went to the open home, saw the potential, and completely fell in love with it,' Ms Cachia said. 'I literally rang Kelly while I was standing inside and said, 'If I buy this, will you help me style it? 'We were so aligned from the get-go. 'That strong monochrome look, I've always loved it. I knew exactly what I wanted this home to feel like.' The centrepiece of the renovation is the oversized ensuite in the main bedroom, complete with double vanities, a double shower, and a custom step built with young children in mind. 'I'm someone who doesn't really use the bedroom for anything other than sleep, so I wanted the ensuite to be the wow factor,' Ms Cachia said. 'That whole front section of the house became a sanctuary. I'll miss it so much.' Other highlights include two living areas, a walk-in dressing room, integrated appliances, secure gated entry and a low-maintenance backyard with a private pool. Matthews Real Estate director John Matthews said the home was one of the suburb's most stylish offerings, with interest already building among buyers who will recognise the value of a finished renovation. 'You walk in and it just hits you — it's chic,' Mr Matthews said. 'It's not the kind of renovation you see in Tullamarine every day. Replicating this would cost well above the current guide.' The four-bedroom residence is scheduled to go under the hammer on August 23. Sign up to the Herald Sun Weekly Real Estate Update.
