Fast bowlers Jacob Duffy and Matt Henry were instrumental in New Zealand's win, taking three wickets each as South Africa was bowled out for 152 in 18.2 overs. South Africa's Lhuan-dre Pretorius started strongly with 27 runs including six boundaries before Henry and Duffy struck back with quick wickets. Debutant Senuran Muthusamy, promoted to No. 4, was bowled by Ish Sodhi shortly after the batting powerplay. South African captain Rassie van der Dussen was run out for 6 runs by Mitchell Santner at the non-striker's end, leaving his team struggling at 62-5 in the ninth over. SA vs NZ: Robinson, Duffy star as New Zealand begin Rob Walter era with win

Tim Robinson and Jacob Duffy were the stars of the show as New Zealand started the Rob Walter era with a 21-run win over South Africa in the second match of the tri-series in Harare on Wednesday, July 16. Robinson remained unbeaten on 75 from 57 balls while Duffy broke the back of the Proteas batting order with figures of three for 20 in his spell. advertisementThe Blackcaps were missing many of their main stars due to their Major League Cricket commitments and will be available from the next game. They also handed the young Bevon Jacobs his debut while South Africa brought back Gerald Coetzee after a nine-month absence. After being asked to bat, New Zealand suffered a top-order collapse before Robinson and Jacobs came together with a 103-run stand to ensure they posted 173 for five in their 20 overs. SA vs ZIM 2nd T20I, tri-series Highlights In response, South Africa were bundled out for 152 runs as Duffy received support from Matt Henry, who ended with figures of three for 34. The start to the first innings wasn't an easy one for the Blackcaps as they kept losing wickets at regular intervals and went from 62 for two to 70 for five. This is when Robinson and Jacobs came together and with the former getting a second life when he was dropped on 26. He would capitalise on the fact he was batting at No.3 and put on a 50-run stand with Jacobs in 39 balls. Having started slowly, Robinson exploded into life towards the end. He found the perfect partner in Jacobs, who absorbed the pressure from the Proteas spinners well before cashing in with three big sixes in the end. South Africa were given a good start by Lhuan-dre Pretorious at the start as he scored 22 off 16 balls, but New Zealand got into the mix with a couple of wickets as the Proteas posted 50 for two in the powerplay. The introduction of captain Mitchell Santner with the ball paid dividends as he dismissed Reeza Hendricks. The promotion of Senuran Muthuswamy was a failure as Ish Sodhi joined in to apply the squeeze on the run-chase. Soon, South Africa lost their way and found themselves at 62 for five with New Zealand firmly on top. Dewald Brevis, who set the stage alight in the last game against Zimbabwe, was tasked with getting his team over the line alongside George Linde. Brevis started to go on the attack as he hit Santner for a six and followed it with two more off Matt Henry. advertisementHowever, Daryl Mitchell took a fine catch to dismiss Brevis but the Proteas remained in the hunt. Linde's 30 made the equation interesting as 30 were needed off the final three overs. But the wicket of the all-rounder spelled the end of the chase as Duffy came in to disrupt the chase. He was on a hat-trick after getting Kwena Mpahaka's wicket, and Henry put the finishing touches on the win with the dismissal of Coetzee. The win put New Zealand at the top of the standings with a better run-rate and they will face Zimbabwe on Friday, July 18. - EndsMust Watch

Shane Warne vs Muttiah Muralitharan?: Who does Brian Lara admire more? West Indies legend breaks it down

Shane Warne (left) and Muttiah Muralitharan West Indies cricket legend Brian Lara has declared Shane Warne as the superior spinner when compared to Muttiah Muralitharan , despite acknowledging that Murali posed more pressure while bowling. Lara shared these insights during his appearance on the 'Stick to Cricket' podcast, hosted by former England cricketers Phil Tuffnell, David Llyld, Alastair Cook, and Michael Vaughan. "Shane Warne is the best. He is the best. And you know, I would walk out to bat against Murali, and I am confused. You know, I got that 688 runs in three matches and the first half an hour of Murali bowling, I would be confused," Lara stated on the podcast. Go Beyond The Boundary with our YouTube channel. He is like 'Oh, take out the no bat pad for Lara. Nothing. Nothing. Let's move everybody up'. And all of a sudden, the pressure came off. But Murali gave me more pressure than Shane," Lara explained. "That is why I rate him higher, because I think he was mentally stronger. And obviously with his bowling attack and the pitches that he bowled on, which favoured, you know, the McGraths and McDermotts, for him to pick up that amount of wickets, very, very special. I think his strength was his mental thing," Lara added. by Taboola by Taboola Sponsored Links Sponsored Links Promoted Links Promoted Links You May Like Bebe una taza cada mañana y descubre lo que pasa una semana después.
