US Navy sailor is feared dead after going overboard TWO days ago in Australia's Timor Sea
Rescue crews have been operating around the clock in an attempt to locate the man who has been missing since Monday.
Australian assets are being contributed to the search and rescue operation led by the US, which has yet to yield any results.
The sailor was reported missing from the nuclear-powered USS George Washington aircraft carrier which is still sailing in the Timor Sea, northwest of Darwin.
It remains in the area while more than 30,000 military personnel from 19 countries take part in Exercise Talisman Sabre.
This biennial event is Australia's largest military training exercise and has been underway since July 17.
It was due to wrap up by the end of July but rescue operations have delayed its ending as emergency teams continue searching for the lost sailor.
Australia's Border Force and Defence Force have supplied a boat and an aircraft to assist the US Navy to find the soldier.

A contentious bronze statue immortalising former Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews will be debated in state parliament amid claims 'unresolved allegations' remain. Plans to make Andrews the fifth premier to be given a permanent statue have been contested by 12,644 Australians in a petition tabled in the Victorian parliament. 'We respectfully urge the government to cancel this proposal as it is inappropriate to erect statues of living politicians,' the petition said. 'Public monuments should be reserved for individuals whose legacies have been tested over time and are broadly regarded as unifying. 'There remains unresolved allegations regarding Daniel Andrews' management and handling of human rights during the state's pandemic response, lockdowns, and use of enforcement powers. 'These issues should be fully resolved before any public honour is considered.' Liberal MP Moira Deeming presented the petition, which noted Andrews' highly-debated involvement in a car crash with a teenage cyclist in 2013. 'Questions persist regarding Daniel Andrews' actions, including delays in reporting the incident and concerns about a possible political cover–up, raising serious doubts about accountability in public office,' the petition continued. 'Spending taxpayer money on a political monument, particularly for a figure whose legacy remains contested, is inappropriate during a time of economic hardship and community division. 'Doing so risks deepening distrust and undermining public confidence in government priorities. 'The petitioners therefore request that the Legislative Council call on the government to cancel any plans to commission or install a statue of former Premier the Hon. Daniel Andrews.' Andrews is set to be the fifth Victorian premier to receive recognition with a statue, alongside John Cain Jr, Rupert Hamer, Henry Bolte and Albert Dunstan who all stand on Treasury Place in the city's CBD. However, details of the cost of his statue and its planned location remain under wraps. When pressed, Andrews said those decisions were up to his successor. Victorian Premier Jacina Allan told reporters this week that the process of installing the Dan Andrews statue is underway. 'Former Liberal premier Jeff Kennett introduced a policy to install statues of former Victorian premiers who serve 3,000 days or more in office, in recognition of their long service to Victoria,' she said. 'The existing statues are located outside 1 Treasury Place and include former premiers Rupert Hamer, Henry Bolte, Albert Dunstan and John Cain Jr. Parliamentary standing orders permit the debate of petitions which receive more than 10,000 signatures, with a minister to provide a response within 30 days. Andrews was premier for almost nine years before he resigned in late 2023. He has since taken on a new role at Orygen, a mental health organisation. His handling of the Covid pandemic and use of enforcement powers were called into question after Melbourne remained in lockdown for 245 days, the longest in Australia and large parts of the world. A bungled hotel quarantine scheme by the Andrews Government has been blamed for the deaths of 768 people. The families of those victims publicly condemned Andrews last year when he was awarded the nation's highest honour – the Companion of the Order of Australia.

Soccer club WITHDRAWS multiple teams for remainder of the season after frequent on-field brawls - 'loss of confidence from the community'
An amateur soccer club has withdrawn multiple teams for the rest of the season following a number of alleged recent game-day incidents. Banksia Tigers, based in Sydney 's south, confirmed the development on Thursday as they look to address the 'loss of confidence in our club from the broader community.' The club's Premier League men's squad, All Age outfit and under-15s boys won't play again in 2025, as they all face disciplinary action from Football St George, the local association, after recent instances of alleged violence during matches. Additionally, the Tigers have voluntarily withdrawn all other male teams competing from under-18s to over-35s. It follows reports of a fight between two sets of fans on June 26 when Banksia took on Scots Lions FC in a Premier League match at Gardiner Park. Speaking on 2GB Sydney, radio host Ben Fordham acknowledged the significant action taken by the Tigers. 'They have decided to pull the pin after one too many brawls,' he told listeners on Friday. 'It follows a string of violent incidents, the latest which saw a spectator rush onto the field (during a game). The face of Sydney's alleged private school childcare predator is revealed - as 1,200 parents are put on alert
The first picture has emerged of a childcare worker and private school graduate accused of indecently filming children at after-school centres on Sydney 's north shore. David William James, 26, attended Knox Grammar at Wahroonga until 2017 and worked part-time at almost 60 child care facilities between March 2018 and September 2024. His identity had been kept secret for the past nine months until a suppression order was lifted in Downing Centre Local Court on Thursday. James is charged with nine counts of aggravated use of a child to make child abuse material, four counts of possessing abuse data or material and one of using a child to make abuse material. He was employed at 58 out-of-school-hours (OOSH) centres but investigators have allegedly found evidence of crimes committed at only six of them. Police said James was accredited to work with children but that certification had since been removed. James did not appear in person on Thursday when Deputy Chief Magistrate Michael Antrum lifted a non-publication order on his name. Daily Mail understands that police will allege James filmed boys using the toilet and exposed himself in front of children. He failed to finish his probation period and resigned from the NSW Police Force in May 2023 after a stint working in a civilian capacity. NSW Police admitted on Thursday that James was rejected by the force because he had failed to disclose his part-time childcare employment. 'During his employment, the man failed to seek the required approval to engage in secondary employment, and as such, police were unaware of his concurrent role in the childcare sector,' a police spokesperson said. 'We acknowledge the seriousness of the allegations and condemn any behaviour that places our community's most vulnerable members at risk.' On Thursday, AFP acting Assistant Commissioner Brett James said its investigation into James began after the detection of child abuse material on the dark web in June 2024. 'Today, court orders were lifted, so we can now talk about this investigation,' acting AC James said. It was revealed last month, before James' name could be published, that 1,200 letters had been sent to parents and carers who may have crossed paths with him 'The non-publication order issued by the court was to allow our investigators the time to carefully work through all the available evidence to establish a full picture of the alleged offending.' Acting AC James said police had examined 142,000 files on the alleged paedophile's devices which amounted to 18.9GB of material. It was revealed last month, before James's name could be published, that 1,200 letters had been sent to parents and carers who may have crossed paths with him. The letters were sent as part of process led by NSW Police and the AFP under the Joint Child Protection Response Program. Investigators asked parents and carers who received the letter to read it carefully, including instructions for contacting a hotline with any relevant concerns. Police were working with NSW Health, NSW Department of Communities and Justice, NSW Department of Education and Training and the Office of the Children's Guardian. James was initially charged last September with refusing to grant Australian Federal Police access to his phone and was arrested again a month later when he was charged with further offences. In a joint statement released on June 19, the AFP and NSW Police said James' alleged offending involved a 'very small number of children'. James has been refused bail since October and is next due to face court on August 21.
