21-year-old man killed, another injured in Townsend Street shooting
A 21-year-old man was killed in a shooting following a robbery in northwest Milwaukee on July 4. The shooting occurred at approximately 11:13 a.m. in the 2600 block of West Townsend Street, the Milwaukee Police Department said in a news release. Two armed suspects robbed a victim, and the suspects and victim then exchanged gunfire, police said. One of the suspects, the 21-year-old man, sustained fatal injuries. The victim, a 20-year-old, was transported to the hospital with non-fatal injuries. Police are still seeking the second, unknown suspect. The department asks anyone with information to contact Milwaukee police at 414-935-7360 or, to remain anonymous, contact Crime Stoppers at (414) 224-Tips or the anonymous tip website and app P3 Tips. There have been at least 70 reported homicides in Milwaukee so far this year, according to Milwaukee police data.
