The Mighty Bose Launches New Wireless Earbuds And Bluetooth Speakers In Time For Summer
The mighty American audio brand Bose has a legendary reputation for creating audio products with 'room-filling sound.' Today, Bose is announcing three new products that sound as if they won't disappoint.
First up from Bose launch is the new QuietComfort Ultra Earbuds. This is the next-gen version of Bose's flagship wireless and noise-cancelling earbuds, the QuietComfort Ultras. This latest version includes a suite of compelling updates that are designed to boost the user's listening experience.
With new and improved AI algorithms that enhance the ActiveSense function, the new earbuds are now better at filtering out any sudden noise spikes to produce a smoother adaptive noise cancellation.
The Bose QuietComfort Ultra earbuds are available in a limited-edition Deep Plum colorway as well ... More as Black and White Smoke.
Most ANC earbuds are pretty good at cutting out unwanted sounds like road noise, aircraft engines or the constant hum of an air conditioner. With these new algorithms, Bose says the QC Ultra will be able to cope with sudden sounds while also offering improved voice pickup and call quality.
These new wireless earphones have an IPX4 rating and can play for up to six hours on a single charge of the earbuds' batteries, although that figure dips to four hours if the immersive audio feature is turned on. The storage case can now be charged wirelessly as well as via the usual USB-C port.
The Bose QC Ultra support Bluetooth Core 5.4 Multipoint connectivity, which means they can work with two source devices connected at the same time. There is support for both SBC and AAC codecs, making them compatible with most Bluetooth streaming devices including iPhones and Android.

As well as SBC and AAC support, the QC Ultra also support Qualcomm's Hi-Res aptX Adaptive codec which automatically adapts to streaming lossless audio wirelessly and provides low-latency transmission when used with a device certified for Qualcomm's Snapdragon Sound platform. Android users can also take advantage of Google's Fast Pair function.
The new Bose QuietComfort Ultra wireless earbuds are available to pre-order from June 12, 2025, in Black and White Smoke colorways, plus a delicious-sounding limited-edition Deep Plum finish. The earbuds will begin shipping on June 26, 2025, priced at $299 / £299 / €299.
The new Bose SoundLink Plus portable Bluetooth speaker will be available in a summery Citrus Yellow ... More colorway.
The second new product announced by Bose today is the all-new SoundLink Plus speaker. This mid-range portable Bluetooth speaker sits neatly between the brand's SoundLink Flex and SoundLink Max speakers.
The SoundLink Plus is designed to provide a rich sound and has a build that's tough enough to be ready for almost anything. The overall size is large enough to create a robust bass response but small enough to go almost anywhere. In fact, the SoundLink Plus is sufficiently compact that it can be stuffed in a backpack, duffle bag or beach tote.
The Bose SoundLink Plus has a single subwoofer, plus a tweeter and four passive radiators to create that big bass sound. Thanks to an IP67 waterproof rating, the it can survive the rough and tumble of outdoor life, making it suitable for hiking.

The new speaker can float on water and comes with a rugged utility nylon rope attached to its side. This makes it easy to pick out of the pool or to clip onto something else like a tent pole or the branch of a nearby tree.
The new speaker has a powder-coated steel grille and a coating of soft-touch silicone material that makes it durable and able to take a bit of a beating. The battery can hold enough juice from a single charge to play for up to 20 hours before it needs topping up. The battery has so much capacity that it can function as a power bank for charging devices like smartphones using the speaker's bi-directional USB-C charging port.
The third and final new product announced by Bose today is the second iteration of the company's popular and compact SoundLink Micro speaker. Measuring 103mm square and just 39mm deep, this miniature Bluetooth speaker delivers a sound that's loud enough while still projecting enough bass. The sound comes from a single dynamic driver and two passive radiators.

Cognition will buy AI coding startup Windsurf, which is losing its leadership to Google
What's left of the AI coding startup Windsurf will be acquired by its competitor Cognition, the two companies just announced. Google announced on Friday that it had hired Windsurf's CEO and other key executives and licensed its technology, leaving Windsurf's future as an independent company in doubt. This also meant a previous deal with OpenAI to acquire it was off. Now, Windsurf interim CEO Jeff Wang says Cognition's acquisition will be a "perfect fit" that would provide endless opportunities for engineers to "100x" their productivity. The terms of Cognition's deal, announced Monday, weren't disclosed. "The last 72 hours have been the wildest rollercoaster ride of my career," Wang posted on LinkedIn. Cognition didn't immediately respond to a request for comment, and Windsurf declined to comment. Cognition, which is backed by Khosla Ventures and Founders Fund, raised a $175 million round last year, only six months after launching. Cognition was last valued at $4 billion, Bloomberg reported, raising hundreds of millions more this year. Windsurf's investors include General Catalyst and Kleiner Perkins. It has raised over $200 million, according to PitchBook. OpenAI previously planned to buy Windsurf for $3 billion, Bloomberg reported. Talks fell through over the Windsurf CEO's opposition to sharing intellectual property with Microsoft, Business Insider previously reported. Questions about the Google deal In a note to staff that Cognition cofounder and CEO Scott Wu posted on Monday, he announced that all Windsurf employees would benefit financially from the acquisition and there would be no waiting period for their stock to vest. He wrote that every single Windsurf employee would be "treated with respect" and "well taken care of." Over the weekend, questions had swirled about the Google deal, especially what impact it would have on employees whose equity had not yet vested. Amjad Masad, CEO of rival vibe coding platform Replit, for example, urged Windsurf employees to join his startup, saying that Replit has passed on many acquisitions and was "building for the long haul." Cognition's plans for Windsurf Cognition said the acquisition would supercharge its AI software developer product, Devin. Windsurf's Wang also poked fun at Anthropic, which cut off access to some of its latest AI models after the news broke that Anthropic's rival OpenAI was in talks to buy Windsurf. "And, of course, we're friends with Anthropic again," Wang said in the announcement.

Android's hidden phone info menu is finally getting organized
Mishaal Rahman / Android Authority TL;DR Android Canary is showing a change to the hidden phone information menu. There's a new entry called 'Phone Information V2.' The new entry separates information that was on one page into four categories: Device Details, Data & Network, Satellite, and IMS. Did you know that Android has secret short codes you can use to gain quick access to certain features or information? You just have to enter one of the codes into the dialer to trigger an action or be taken to a hidden menu. In Android Canary, it looks like one of these hidden menus is getting a change. When you type in *#*#4636#*#* into the dialer, your phone will show you a hidden menu with options including Phone information, Usage statistics, and Wi-Fi information. Most people who know about this hidden menu tend to use it to force-lock their network to 3G, 4G, or 5G, so it doesn't switch automatically. Something we noticed in Android Canary is that this menu now has a fourth entry — Phone Information V2. Previously, all of the details in the Phone information option were presented on one page. This new option separates that information into four different tabs: Device Details, Data & Network, Satellite, and IMS. As expected, the tabs neatly bin all relevant information into the categories they belong in. The Satellite tab is particularly interesting as it is completely new. Got a tip? Talk to us! Google Photos AI Remix: Are Your Memories Still Real?
Google Photos is prepping a new AI-powered feature that can turn still images into moving videos. SOPA Images/LightRocket via Getty Images Google Photos is developing a new 'Remix' feature that turns still photos into AI videos. Remix prioritizes fun and ease of use over creative control The feature raises concerns over how we view our memories. Google Photos is primed to significantly change the way we interact with our memories, thanks to an experimental new AI-powered 'Remix' feature that will let you transform any still images into entertaining video clips using AI. While this sounds like a fun new way to enjoy our photos, for me, it also raises questions about the authenticity of our memories and whether such a feature is really appropriate for Google Photos. Early signs of the Remix feature were first spotted in the Google Photos app a couple of months ago, focused mainly on transforming photos into various artistic styles, but now a new report from Android Authority , reveals Google's demo of a new image-to-video function, suggesting that the feature is getting closer to release. Google's Remix feature turns still images into fun videos with AI. GOOGLE/ANDROID AUTHORITY The demo video, unearthed by software sleuth AssembleDebug , shows a still image of a cute dog, accompanied by two human friends in the park. Remix then transforms this image into a celebration including natural movements from all three participants, with the addition of applause and falling confetti. Introductory text below the clip states, 'Simply choose a photo, pick a fun prompt to apply, and see your photo transform,' displayed above a large 'Try now' button implying that Google is preparing to introduce the new Remix feature to users imminently. According to previous discoveries reported on by Android Authority , these 'fun prompts' will include 'Subtle Movements, ' 'Go Wild,' and 'I'm Feeling Lucky,' suggesting that users will have only limited control over the videos they create. With the Pixel 10-series launch just weeks away, the release of Remix could be strategically timed to showcase the capabilities of Google's latest Pixel devices. However, there's nothing in the code to suggest when, or for whom, the feature will eventually become available. Perhaps it will launch as a Pixel 10 exclusive, or for Google One subscribers only: we'll have to wait and see. Not The Same As Gemini's Veo 3 Image-To-Video? Google adds image-to-video capabilities to Gemini for Gemini Pro and Gemini Ultra subscribers GOOGLE Remix appears, at first glance, to offer similar functionality to other image-to-video AI applications, including the version powered by Google's own Veo 3 model, recently made available to Gemini Pro and Gemini Ultra subscribers in the Gemini app. However, there seem to be some important differences between the two, not least being the fact that Veo 3 allows you to type any text prompt you like when generating a video rather than forcing you to pick from a list. Veo 3 can also generate audio for your AI clips, something which isn't mentioned as a feature of Remix. However, I think Remix's inherent limitations could be vital in maintaining Google Photos' core usage as a place for storing, reliving and sharing memories. Is Google Photos the right place for AI Video? Google has a history of using the latest available technologies, including AI, to enhance and repurpose the photos and videos in our libraries by automatically-generating animations and short videos and collating our most interesting memories into 'Moments.' However, the Remix feature appears to take things a step further by encouraging users to turn their photos into videos of moments that never actually happened. I feel Google Photos should be a place for storing real memories rather than a platform for creating synthetic content. Google Photos is pretty good at separating out different types of content, such as screenshots and documents, so it's reasonable to hope it will do the same with AI-generated videos. However, if Remix AI-videos start appearing in Google's automatically-generated 'Moments,' I think we'll have a problem — especially if they become difficult to distinguish from reality. Remix runs the risk of blurring the lines between genuine memories and what many would consider 'AI slop.' I'm sure there's plenty of fun to be had in sharing short AI-generated clips, but I wouldn't want them clogging up my photo library. Much will depend on the details of how Google implements Remix and how Google Photos curates these AI videos alongside our genuine photos and videos. Would you use Remix?
