The seal has officially been broken on the start of fall camp for the 2025-2026 edition of the Ohio State football team. The Buckeyes are the defending College Football Playoff national champions and will begin to put the building blocks in place to try and make another run.
To do it, the tone has to be set on the onset of fall camp, and by all indications, that's exactly what happened inside the Woody Hayes Athletic Center. The Ohio State football creative team is one of the best in the business and is always on the job when it comes to its social media game, and it wasted no time sharing some highlights of the first day of camp.
If you haven't seen any footage of the first day of fall camp, check out some of the moments and excitement of the day thanks to what was shared by the Ohio State Football "X" account below.
We'll continue to keep an eye on what's going on in fall camp as Ohio State speeds ahead towards the start of the 2025 season and the massive opener against the Texas Longhorns on August 30.

Alabama transfer announces commitment decision to ACC program

Having entered the NCAA transfer portal earlier this offseason, a commitment decision has now officially come from former Alabama Crimson Tide right-handed pitcher Packy Bradley-Cooney. According to an announcement on social media, Bradley-Cooney has committed to play next season at Miami. During his lone season at Alabama, Bradley-Cooney made six appearances for the Crimson Tide in 2025, with each coming out of the bullpen. Across 3.1 innings pitched, Bradley-Cooney owned a 10.80 ERA with a 5:7 K:BB ratio, as well as opponents owning a combined .250 AVG against. Prior to this past season at Alabama, Bradley-Cooney spent a year at Campbell where he served as the program's closer. Former Iowa football QB headed to Kansas JUCO

After transferring away from Iowa in December, former Hawkeyes quarterback James Resar announced he was back in the transfer portal last week. The 6-foot-4, 212-pound quarterback didn't see any game action in his lone season in Iowa City. Resar initially transferred to Division II UNC-Pembroke on June 4. But, the Jacksonville, Fla., native's stay in North Carolina isn't a long one. Resar announced his transfer commitment to Independence, a member of the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference. Resar, a 6-foot-4, 212-pound quarterback, signed with the Hawkeyes as part of the 2024 class. Resar was regarded as a four-star signee, the No. 23 overall and the No. 41 recruit in Florida in the 2024 class, per 247Sports. Though he arrived as a quarterback signee, Resar switched to wide receiver. Iowa football coach Kirk Ferentz revealed Resar sustained a non-contact knee injury after the position change. Resar was a tremendous track athlete when he signed with the Hawkeyes. The Florida native earned four varsity letters in track and was a 100-meter district champion with a personal best of 10.67 seconds. Per 247Sports' 2025 transfer portal rankings, Resar is listed as the No. 58 available quarterback and No. 807 player overall. Resar has four years of eligibility remaining. James Franklin updates Penn State's backup QB decision

Jaxon Smolik and Ethan Grunkemeyer still competing to back up Drew Allar For the third striaght season, Penn State knows who the starting quarterback of the team will be. But one of the more important questions at the position may not be answered before the start of the season. Who will be the backup option to Drew Allar should one be needed to call into action? After losing Beau Pribula to the transfer portal just before the start of the College Football Playoff last season, Penn State's top two options behind Allar come down to redshirt sophomore Jaxon Smolik and redshirt freshman Ethan Grunkemeyer. If you are to take anything head coach James Franklin said to heart during a media day session on Saturday, the decision may linger into the season. "That one in the spring was really tightly contested," Franklin said on Saturday when meeting with the media. "This thing is, I think, going to go right down to the wire." Franklin suggested the decision on who will back up Allar could be determined on a weekly basis based on performance during the week during practices, which suggests Franklin and his staff are not comfortable making a firm call at this time and are encouraging more competition for the job. "Depending, if it finishes up like it did in the spring, it could continue throughout the entire year," Franklin said. "If it's close, if there's a gap, there's a gap. If it's close, I think the competition could go throughout the year, whoever has the best week that week is going to be the backup quarterback type of deal, just based on how close it was this spring." This is a tactic that is not new for Franklin. We have seen this strategy play out multiple times in recent seasons with the backup quarterback decision-making. In 2021, there was some indecision on who would be the backup option to cemented starter Sean Clifford with Ta'Quan Roberson and Christian Veilleux competing for the backup job. Penn State was forced to throw in Roberson in a tough spot on the road against Iowa when Clifford was knocked out of a game, and Roberson showed he was not at all ready for the spot. Later in the season, when Clifford was again banged up in a game, it was Veilleux who stepped onto the field as his replacement. Franklin explained that Veilleux was not ready for the spot earlier in the season against Iowa. Smolik, who flipped from Tulane to Penn State in 2023, missed the 2024 season due to an injury, and Grunkemeyer did not get on the field until getting a chance to relieve Allar in a win in the first round of the College Football Playoff last season against SMU. Grunkemeyer may have the more promising future outlook as the possible successor to Allar in 2026, but Franklin and his staff will not worry about what could be in 2026 when it comes to determining the best option to win on a week-to-week basis this season. Of course, the hope is that Franklin and his staff will not have to lose too much sleep over who fills in for Allar. Follow Kevin McGuire on Threads, Bluesky, Instagram, TikTok, and Facebook.
