Malaysia's Haloje Delivery To Launch In Singapore Following Indonesian Expansion
By Mohd Iswandi Kasan Anuar
JAKARTA, July 16 (Bernama) -- Malaysia-based delivery platform Haloje Delivery is set to enter the Singapore market next month, following its recent expansion into Indonesia, said its founder and director Jalluddin Abu Hassan.
The platform is operated by Techzilla Global Solution Sdn Bhd.
He said the move is part of the company's broader strategy to strengthen its footprint across Southeast Asia, with Singapore's status as a logistics and digital hub making it a strategic choice for the next phase of growth. 'Singapore is a mature and competitive market, which makes it ideal for testing and refining our service offerings. We will tailor our services to local needs, focusing on efficiency, punctuality, and technology integration,' he told Bernama.
Jalluddin said Haloje Delivery also plans to target niche cross-border delivery services between Johor Bahru and Singapore, a segment it believes is underserved by larger platforms.
In a bid to strengthen its presence in Indonesia, its subsidiary PT Haloje Delivery Indonesia sealed a memorandum of understanding early this month with Persatuan Ummat Islam, an organisation with over 20 million members, to support digital economy development within local communities.
Having launched operations in late 2024 in Bekasi, West Java, about 20 kilometres east of central Jakarta, Haloje Delivery offers services including food delivery, courier services, medicine delivery, groceries, and mobile prepaid credit top-ups. 'Our approach in Indonesia is highly community-based, working closely with local organisations and entrepreneurs to ensure alignment with on-the-ground needs,' said Jalluddin.
Its expansion efforts are supported by the Malaysia Digital X-Port Grant Programme, under the Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC), aimed at helping Malaysian tech companies scale globally.
Jalluddin revealed that while the operations in Malaysia have already reached profitability, it remains focused on reinvesting in technology, marketing, and talent to drive its regional expansion.

Ether-linked stocks jump as crypto coin hits 6-month high
FILE PHOTO: Souvenir tokens representing cryptocurrency Bitcoin and the Ethereum network, with its native token ether, plunge into water in this illustration taken May 17, 2022. REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/Illustration/File Photo (Reuters) -Cryptocurrency-related stocks rose in premarket trading on Friday, with shares linked to ether leading the charge after the No. 2 crypto hit a six-month high. Shares of BitMine Immersion Technologies, which holds about $1 billion worth of ether, soared 14%. Other ether holding firms Bit Digital and BTCS added 4% and 12.5%, respectively. Ether climbed to $3,675.81, its highest since January 6, and was last up 5% at $3,601.40, outperforming bitcoin, which eased 0.7% to $118,961 after hitting a record high of $123,153 this week. BitMine, where tech billionaire Peter Thiel is the top investor and Fundstrat's Tom Lee serves as chairman of the board, said on Thursday it had accumulated 300,657 ether in just three weeks and aims to acquire about 5% of over ether supply which currently stands at 120.71 million. A number of other companies recently decided to add ether to their balance sheets, following the example of Strategy, the largest corporate holder of bitcoin. Strategy's bitcoin stockpile was acquired at a sharp discount over the years to current price. SharpLink, which has funded its ether treasury through stock sale over the past seven weeks, said it had raised its current $1 billion share sale plan by an additional $5 billion. Its shares rose 5.6%. Ether benefits from increased usage of U.S.-dollar-pegged tokens known as stablecoins. Most stablecoins are issued and transacted on the underlying blockchain Ethereum, driving up demand for ether to pay transaction fees. "The standout proposition of institutional Ethereum accumulation seems to be stablecoin growth which has been further accelerated by the recent success of Circle IPO," said Matthew Dibb, CIO at Astronaut Capital, a Singapore-based crypto asset manager. "Ethereum is by far the biggest beneficiary of stablecoin usage." The U.S. House of Representatives on Thursday passed a bill to create a regulatory framework for stablecoins, a watershed moment for the digital asset industry. "Time will tell whether these treasury companies outperform the core ETH ETF, but given the success of (Strategy) in recent years, it won't stop them from trying." BlackRock's iShares Bitcoin Trust ETF has gained 10% so far this month, while the ether equivalent ETF has added nearly 36% in the same period. Among other crypto stocks, stablecoin issuer Circle Internet gained 2.7%, while crypto exchange Coinbase Global added 2% on Friday. Foreign investors remain significant net buyers in 1H25, contribute net inflow of RM21.4bil
KUALA LUMPUR: Foreign investors remained significant net buyers in the first half of 2025, contributing a cumulative net inflow of RM21.4 billion year-to-date June 2025, said RAM Ratings Services Bhd (RAM Ratings). However, foreign holdings of Malaysian bonds eased to RM5.4 billion in June, reversing strong inflows of RM13.4 billion recorded in May, amid weaker investor sentiment due to US tariff uncertainty. "This was primarily driven by selloffs of both long-term Malaysian Government Securities (MGS) and Government Investment Issues (GII), as well as short-term Malaysian Treasury Bills (MTB) and Malaysian Islamic Treasury Bills (MITB), which respectively amounted to RM5.3 billion and RM1 billion. "Conversely, corporate bonds continued to attract foreign investments, which posted a net inflow of RM903.4 million (May: RM550 million),' it said in a statement. The credit rating agency said, however, that this was only the second month in 2025 to see an overall net foreign outflow, after February's RM1.1 billion. Furthermore, it said foreign investor interest could stay muted in July as the Aug 1 deadline for higher US reciprocal tariff rates looms and uncertainty remains over whether Malaysia can strike a deal before then. Growing expectation of a longer pause in the US monetary policy easing, given the hotter-than-anticipated July inflation print, also dulls the attractiveness of emerging market assets. "Markets currently expect the US Federal Reserve (Fed) to keep the policy rate unchanged at 4.25-4.5 per cent at the upcoming July Federal Open Market Committee meeting,' RAM Ratings added. RAM Ratings said waning hopes of a Fed rate cut this month strengthened the greenback. As of July 17, the ringgit weakened moderately to 4.25 against the US dollar (end-June: 4.21). - Bernama

China eyes new measures to boost economy
BEIJING: China has a 'plentiful' toolbox to avoid an economic slump in the second half of the year, its commerce minister said yesterday as he admitted it faced a 'very severe and complex situation'. Growth hit 5.2% in the second quarter, official data showed Tuesday, but analysts have warned that more must be done to boost sluggish domestic consumption as exports face the knock-on effects of global trade turmoil. Retail sales rose far less than expected last month and were much weaker than May, suggesting efforts to kickstart consumption have fallen flat. 'We are still facing a very severe and complex situation. Global changes are unstable and uncertain. Some of our policies will offer some new responses according to the times and circumstances,' Wang Wentao told journalists at a news briefing. 'Our toolbox is plentiful, and we will be fully prepared.' Asked specifically about China's reliance on exports, Wang suggested the government was preparing policies to 'further stimulate the momentum of our consumption development'. 'China's economy is improving, and the long-term fundamentals have not changed, the consumption market's characteristics of great potential, strong resilience and vitality have not changed,' he said. Wang also namechecked Beijing-based toymaker Pop Mart, whose Labubu monster dolls have become a must-have item internationally, adorning the handbags of celebrities such as Rihanna and Dua Lipa. 'We are also promoting new forms of consumption... for example Pop Mart, these kinds of new trends, new fashions and styles... the Labubu phenomenon has swept the world,' he said. Beijing is battling to shift towards a growth model propelled more by domestic demand than the traditional key drivers of infrastructure investment, manufacturing and exports. That desired transformation has become more urgent since Donald Trump came to office. The US president has imposed tariffs on China and other key trade partners, disrupting trade norms and threatening Beijing's exports at a crucial time for its economy. The two superpowers have sought to de-escalate their row after reaching a framework for a deal at talks in London last month, but observers warn of lingering uncertainty. Wang said yesterday that despite 'storms and rain', Washington remained an important trading partner. Even though China-US trade has declined proportionally for each country, overall bilateral trade has remained stable, Wang said. In a sign of progress, US tech giant Nvidia said this week that it would resume sales of its H20 artificial intelligence chips to China after Washington pledged to remove licensing restrictions that had halted exports. China's commerce ministry acknowledged the US decision in a statement yesterday afternoon, even as it called for Washington to 'abandon its zero-sum mentality'. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has met with Chinese leaders this week in Beijing, telling journalists Wednesday that his firm was 'doing our best' to serve the country's vast semiconductor market. – AFP
