Missing New Brunswick woman's death considered suspicious: RCMP

Police in New Brunswick are investigating the death of a missing woman as suspicious.
RCMP said Rachelle Paget, 34, was reported missing on June 15 around 11:50 a.m. They were told the Woodstock woman was last seen on June 13.
Police found her body in the Saint John River in Medford on the evening of the day she was reported missing.
The Major Crime Unit is now investigating her death as suspicious. Police are asking anyone who may have had contact with Paget between June 13 and 15 to contact investigators.
RCMP said officers have also recovered her vehicle and are looking for any information on sightings of it between June 13 and 18. Police describe the vehicle as a red 2022 Chevrolet Trailblazer with New Brunswick licence plater NGP 892.

The driver drove off, police say. The pedestrians, a 25-year-old women and an infant, both from Eskasoni, were taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries, according to the release. Police located the truck nearby and determined that the driver had fled on foot. The 34-year-old driver was later located and arrested. Earlier that morning, at approximately 7:55 a.m., Eskasoni RCMP had responded to a report of a possible impaired driver involving the same pickup truck. A search for the vehicle was unsuccessful. The man has been charged with failure to stop after an accident causing bodily harm and two counts of dangerous operation causing bodily harm. He remains in custody pending an appearance in Sydney provincial court on Monday. The current condition of the victims has not been released.

The police officer drove to the scene, but the driver had already fled. The officer stayed to treat the victims, a 34-year-old woman and a 56-year-old man. Both were taken to Victoria Hospital and remain there in serious condition. Prince Albert police are asking anyone with information about the incident to contact them at 306-953-4222.
